T.O.R.N. Part 3—Restoration 1. We Have All Been Created in God’s Image “Let us make humanity in our image in our likeness…So God created humanity in his own image, in the image of God he created them male and female.” Genesis 1:26-27 2. But Sin Has Seperated us From That Initial Glory “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned…For if many died because of the sin that entered through the first man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, over flow to the many.” Romans 5:12 & 15 3. God’s Purpose is to Restore Us Too What We Were Intended to Be “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of love. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my teachings.” Ezekel 36:26-27 4. Often the First Step Towards Restoration is Destruction “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s might hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you…And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast” I Peter 5:6-7 & 10 Should Not David’s Prayer Be Ours as Well? Every day Asking God to Restore and Renew Us. To Create in Us a Clean Heart, to Melt Our Hearts of Stone and to Restore in Us the Joy of Salvation and Life. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.” Psalm 51:10-12
