APRIL IS UPON US Can you believe it is Easter already?! Term One for all our students is done and dusted, and the Easter festivities have commenced. We all know that Easter is celebrated at different times for different religions, but do you know why? Easter that is celebrated by 90% of Christians is based on the dates set on the Gregorian calendar (you know, the most widely used civil calendar introduced in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII aka the one your diary is based on!) However, Eastern Christians, Greek Orthodox and Orthodox Christians celebrate it on the dates set by the Julian calendar which was in existence prior to 1582. That only changed because Pope Greg thought we needed to adjust the year by 0.02! Festivities sometimes fall on the same dates, sometimes they are four weeks apart. It is much like the varying dates that the commencement of a new year is celebrated depending on different cultures and religions. Whatever your plans this Easter, we wish you a fabulous few days of rest and relaxation and happy house hunting. We would also like to commemorate the spirit of the Anzac’s on the 25th of April. A time to pause and reflect upon the immense courage, mateship, and sacrifices made in 1915 by those who have shaped our national identity.
