Natalia gets Real PE is fun! You even get to have a swim, writes Natalia Reali. Every week PE is fun. We learn a lot of different sports. We have done Frisbee, Soccer and Touch Footy and now we are learning a new sport called Gaelic Football, which is an Irish game. Gaelic Football is a combination of Soccer, Basketball, Rugby and a little bit of Volleyball. Soccer, because you use a Soccer ball, you can kick it while running with it and the scoring place is the normal Soccer goals. Basketball, because you can bounce the ball on the ground. Rugby because you have to tackle the person to get the ball off the opponent. And Volleyball because you can only throw the ball with Volleyball serves. On week 6, Friday, everyone was playing Touch Footy with great caution on the soccer field because of all the mud and water ponds. It had just rained the day before. So there I was all ready and with nice clothes, just waiting on our goal line to see if the other team comes. All I had to do is run touch them so that it wouldn’t be a goal. But what I didn’t know is that there was a huge mud puddle near by, and as you know me, I’m not very lucky, in other words I’m a klutz. So there I was, and all of a sudden my team yells out my name and said “Get Heath!” as I heard that I ran as fast as I could to try to catch him, but while he was running he was zigzagging on a huge and deep mud puddle, of course I didn’t even notice it so as I lengthened my arm out to touch him, I fell on my back on the huge mud puddle. But luckily I was able to touch him and it wasn’t a goal. Then I got up, smiled and tried to clean myself a little. Of course I was the joke of the term, but I’m ok with that. I literally looked like the 101 Dalmatians! Half of me was clean, and the other half was brown, full of mud! All I have to say is my team is lucky to have me; I even had a swim in the mud for my team!

Your Parent Teacher Association needs you There are many ways a good PTA can help support school life. This group of parents works in partnership with teachers and school administration to assist and support classroom as well as whole school activities in various ways. Please come to a meeting this Friday morning at drop-off time 9 am at the upper campus DIS Newsletter, Term 2, Week 9, 1 June 2010 - Page 3

Probability and graphs This term grade 3-4 have been learning about probability and graphs. They are finding outcomes of probability using spinners and dice. The results of their findings are then recorded and expressed using bar graphs and pictographs. The students have been working hard and enjoying the topic.
