Katz Coffee: Brewing Community and Connection, One Cup at a Time

Avi Katz’s passion for coffee began after graduating from the University of Houston’s Hospitality program, where he entered the coffee industry and discovered the power of a simple cup to bring people together. “I like to think of coffee as ‘Liquid Love,’” he said. “The simple act of sharing a cup of coffee with someone can forge a connection and create community.” That passion soon grew into a lasting love for coffee when a California-based coffee company with 37 stores nationwide recruited him. That experience led him to participate in several coffee companies, including Lola Savannah in downtown Houston, Fontana Coffee Roasters in Montrose, and eventually founding Katz Coffee in Spring Branch. When Avi launched Katz Coffee, he didn’t do it alone. His mother was his primary partner and investor, helping turn his vision into reality. The original Katz Coffee was in a small, 900-square-foot convenience store on E. 20th Street. Specializing in sourcing and roasting the world’s finest coffees and offering the freshest possible product to wholesale and retail customers, Katz Coffee later relocated to 2400 Karbach St. The move to Karbach St. was strategic. “I witnessed the overwhelming success of Karbach Brewing Co., and I felt we would have synergistic endeavors between coffee and beer,” said Avi. “Additionally, I love the atmosphere the brewery creates on the street. They know how to throw an incredible party.” That same sense of community extends beyond Karbach to Spring Branch. “The diversity of cultures coupled with the unique
culinary offerings and the centralized location brings an element of fun and excitement to the city,” said Avi. That focus on community extends beyond Katz Coffee’s physical location. Grounded in the belief that every sip stands for something, the company invests in the communities it serves through its Cause Coffee Program, which supports a variety of nonprofits, including Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Houston Fire Department, the University of Houston and the PTSD Foundation of America/Camp Hope. “Our Drink the Flag program, for example, invests a portion of proceeds to benefit the PTSD Foundation of America, which is privately funded and does not accept VA dollars,” Avi said. “Every cup goes further than flavor; it helps to change lives.” Since founding Katz Coffee, Avi and his team have grown significantly while navigating challenges, including the pandemic. “COVID was the only year we experienced a decrease in size. But my team always rises to any occasion, and we were able to overcome the pandemic and, since then, have tripled in size,” he said. Today, Katz Coffee has become one of the largest specialty roasters in North America. The team's cohesiveness and emphasis on creating a family environment help Katz Coffee stay focused on what has always been at its heart: creating connections, building community, and sharing great coffee. For Avi, success is measured not only by the company’s growth, but by the relationships formed over every cup.
“Good coffee is more than just taste,” said Avi. “Please stop by to experience our festive atmosphere, talented baristas, and delicious coffee.”
Katz Coffee is located at 2400 Karbach St. Customers can visit the lobby Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a free cup of coffee and to experience firsthand the welcoming atmosphere and sense of community that have become part of the Katz Coffee experience.

At Spring Branch Community Health Center (SBCHC), we are gearing up to host our annual Fall Harvest Luncheon on October 21st, 2026, at the Junior League of Houston. SBCHC has served our neighboring communities for over two decades and continues to evolve to better meet our patients' health and wellness needs through life-saving services. Each year, we host a formal fundraising luncheon, with contributions supporting our health services. This year, our focus is on securing the future of health by directing our investments toward the SBCHC Total Health Campus. Houston continues to face a growing health crisis as many families face delayed care, develop preventable conditions, and rely on overcrowded exam rooms, costing Texas over $1.7 billion annually. As we face rapid population growth and shrinking federal funding, SBCHC has launched the Securing the Future of Health campaign to deliver more reliable care in the heart of the Spring Branch community. With this groundbreaking facility, our goal is to double capacity, expand services in high-need areas, improve health outcomes at scale, and strengthen our operational sustainability. This campaign will improve the health and wellness of individuals and families in Spring Branch. This year’s Fall Harvest Luncheon Chair is Gabriela Gerhart, Founder of Motherhood Center. In her early life in the Czech Republic, Gabriela discovered her passion for babies and childcare, inspiring her to establish the Motherhood Center. After receiving her degree in Pediatric Nursing and working in the US, she recognized the importance of building a strong support system for women during pregnancy and motherhood. With her expertise, she led many health initiatives that support women’s organizations and several non-profits. She values the difference SBCHC has made for our patients, especially expectant mothers. Our OBGYN services provide foundational support for all women through primary care, well-woman exams, and prenatal and postpartum care. With the high demand for women’s healthcare, SBCHC remains committed to expanding our health services for all families. We invite you to our Fall Harvest Luncheon. Your support can help us turn our vision into a reality with sponsorship options you can reserve. Join us to remove barriers to care, expand access to services, and create effective health solutions for Houston families. For more information, please call Bruce Padilla at 832.878.9710 or email bpadilla@sbchc.net. Sponsorship packages are available at givebutter.com/2026fhl.
Join us as we celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Guthrie Center,
a milestone for Spring Branch ISD and the future of career and technical education in our area. The community is invited to an Open House and Tours on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Guthrie Center, 10660 Hammerly Road, Houston, TX 77043. Come explore the new facility, see innovative learning spaces and discover the programs and realworld opportunities preparing SBISD students for what’s next. Learn more about the Guthrie Center here.
As Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) begins its 80th anniversary year, there is much to celebrate. Across classrooms and campuses, fine arts programs, athletic fields and career pathways, SBISD students and educators continue to demonstrate what is possible when great schools and a strong community come together around the success of Every Child. And the results are worth celebrating.
Among the Best in Texas and the Nation This past year, SBISD earned national and statewide recognition for excellence across academics, career and technical education, fine arts and athletics. SBISD was the only school district in Texas and one of just 108 districts nationwide named a District on the Rise by the Education Recovery Scorecard from Harvard and Stanford universities. The recognition highlights districts demonstrating exceptional academic recovery and growth. And the accolades extend well beyond academics. For the second consecutive year, SBISD was named a Career and Technical Education Association of Texas District of Distinction, recognizing the strength of programs that connect students with career exploration, industry experiences and real-world skills. SBISD also earned recognition as a Texas Art Education District of Distinction for the sixth consecutive year, celebrating outstanding visual arts education across the district. This summer, SBISD Athletics was named a Texas Way District of Distinction, recognizing a districtwide commitment to sportsmanship, character development and positive community engagement. Together, these honors tell a larger story: SBISD students have opportunities to discover their strengths and excel in the classroom and far beyond it. Academic Achievement Continues to Climb Spring 2026 STAAR results provide another reason for the SBISD community to celebrate. In Grades 3-8, SBISD outperformed both the state and the region overall in math and reading, as well as in Grade 8 social studies and Grades 5 and 8 science, at the Approaches, Meets and Masters performance levels. In math, SBISD exceeded the state by 13 percentage points at the Meets level and 11 points at Masters. Compared with our region, SBISD was 10 points higher at Meets and 9 points higher at the Masters level.Reading results were similarly strong. SBISD exceeded the State by 9 percentage points at Meets and 12 points at Masters, while surpassing the region by 6 points at Meets and 9 points at Masters. What does that mean for SBISD students? More students are demonstrating the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the next grade, while more are reaching the highest levels of achievement. Behind those numbers are students building the critical thinking, problemsolving, reading and mathematical skills that will prepare them for high school, college, careers and life .
Secondary Students Make Significant Gains The momentum continues at the secondary level. SBISD students improved in 12 of 15 End-of-Course performance measures. Biology was a standout, with a 10-percentage-point increase at Meets and a 17-point increase at Masters. English I improved 5 percentage points at Meets, while English II increased 6 points.SBISD also outperformed both the state and the region in Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History at all three performance levels, while exceeding both in English I and English II at the Meets and Masters levels. For students and families, these results mean more than higher test scores. They reflect students mastering challenging content, thinking at higher levels and building the academic foundation needed to take on advanced coursework and pursue college and career pathways with confidence. Ready for What's Next Success in SBISD is not simply about performing well today. It is about ensuring students are prepared to thrive tomorrow. Preliminary Advanced Placement® results provide another powerful indicator of that readiness. In 2026, 77% of SBISD AP exams earned a qualifying score of 3 or higher, up from 74% in 2025 and 64% in 2024.More students are also reaching the highest levels of AP achievement. This year, 1,273 students earned AP Scholar recognition, a 15% increase from last year and an impressive 70% increase since 2022.On the School Day SAT, preliminary results show SBISD students scoring 48 points above the state average and 51 points above the average of all global test takers. Our students aren't waiting for the future to prove they're ready. They're proving it now. With AP® success climbing and SAT performance exceeding state and global averages, more SBISD students are demonstrating the knowledge, skills and college-level readiness to compete and succeed wherever their next step takes them. 80 Years Strong, and Still Growing The numbers are impressive. The recognitions are worth celebrating. But the real story is the people behind them. Behind every result is a student who worked hard, an educator who challenged and encouraged them, a family that supported them and a community that continues to believe deeply in the power of its public schools. For 80 years, generations of Spring Branch families have invested in a simple but powerful promise: exceptional schools where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Today's results show that promise remains strong. As SBISD celebrates 80 Years of Excellence, there is much to be #SBISDProud of and even more to look forward to.
Eight decades in, Spring Branch ISD continues to inspire minds, shape lives and show what is possible when an entire community comes together for Every Child.

This September is going to represent a whole new world to me. For the first time since I was five, there will be no school in my life. First, of course, it was as a student with grade, middle, then high school, followed by a career as a high school teacher and coach. Then I went back to grad school, followed by a little more teaching at the college level. At some point in the middle of all of that, we had our first son, and five years later, our second son, which has meant seventeen straight years of those two knuckleheads in school. But the older now has a master’s degree and the younger will be heading out east for a post-graduate year at a boarding school with the hope of playing basketball in college. That means, for the first time in a number of years, there will be no studying, no lesson planning, no carpooling, no parent-teacher conferencing. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. And I am so perfectly fine with that… At least that is the current mantra. But, that doesn’t mean that we have to stop learning, so I thought I would kick off “back to school” with a little “unlearning” in this space. In case you haven’t noticed, the wine world is a bit stressed right now, with sales down close to 30% in some sectors and multiple other concerns including the changing climate, labor issues, and the seemingly real move toward sobriety around the globe (that has not reached my household yet, and we are doing our best to ensure it never does). There are many issues in the wine world right now and I contend that many of them are self-inflicted. Wine is a beverage. A beverage. Yet many (myself included at times), treat it as if it were the nectar of the gods and that it should be held in the highest esteem and always treated as such. Hogwash (I was going to use a more “colorful” word, but I am sure it would have been censored by the editor). So here are four things that the wine world needs to get over right away. 1. Screwcaps The screw cap was introduced decades ago, but for some reason, it is still associated with “cheap” wine. I have had countless top-end wines from all over the world sealed with a screw cap and they (or at least most) have been glorious. I am writing this article, in a hotel in the middle of wine country, with about 29 bottles of wine all around me, but no cork screw. My “work” would be so much easier if I could simply open these bottles with a flick of the wrist.
to School Basics By Jeffrey M. Kralik, Ph.D. (The Drunken Cyclist)
3. There is no such thing as the “perfect” pairing A ton of time has been spent by so-called experts (like me?) telling you what you should eat certain foods with a given wine ; we love to explain why a certain cheese “needs” a bottle from a specific region or why salmon can pair perfectly well with Pinot Noir. While I agree that there are certain food-wine pairings that just “work”, who cares? You want a Petite Sirah (a big, red wine) with your cod? Go right ahead. You want a $10 Pinot Grigio with your $100 Wagyu Ribeye? No one should be stopping you. Life is short. Drink what you want. 4. Don’t put ice in your Rosé (or any wine) What a bunch of you-know-what. There is no one telling you not to put ketchup on your eggs (like my wife), mayonnaise on your fries (like my son), or Sriracha on just about everything (like my other son), so why can’t I put ice in my wine? I wouldn’t think twice about adding it to my lemonade, tea, or Coke (three other beverages), so why not wine? If the wine is not as cold as you like, and you don’t want to wait for it to get there, adding some ice will, um, make it colder. So there you have it, four quick and easy “rules” you no longer need to follow while consuming wine. In sum, I am going to have a warm Chardonnay, closed with a screw cap, with my hamburgers tonight. All I’ll need is a couple of ice cubes and a Dixie cup.

2. “Proper” wine glasses I have opined in numerous outlets that the whole concept of “proper stemware” when consuming wine is perhaps the dumbest and most (?) elitist of the myriad elitist barriers that many have erected around wine consumption. Sure, nice wine glasses add a bit of elegance to your beverage consumption, but you don’t have a $125 crystal wine glass to enjoy a glass of wine. Heck, all you really need is a red solo cup. Or a fairly long straw.

I get asked what my favorite restaurants are a lot. And it's kind of a tricky answer because I like different places for different reasons. A couple new Vietnamese spots have opened in Spring Branch this summer so I figured this would be a good time to share with you my favorite dishes at the various locales (and, yes, I will also share which Vietnamese spot is my favorite.) Me'lange (1827 Bingle Rd) - they just opened up in the old Kidz Grub spot. They only have a few tables so I expect they'll do a lot of takeout. My favorite dish is the Moon Beam Rice Cake with Shrimp (Bánh Ít Trán). They are dumplings made from Mung Bean that are sticky and dense and filled with Shrimp & Pork. One serving will fill you up, but they are best to share. A little fish sauce and chili oil and you're good to go. Xeo Yum (10049 Long Point Rd) - the owner actually grew up here in SB so extra points for that. You must try their signature dish the Banh Xeo Saigon. It is an egg crepe absolutely STUFFED with Shrimp and Pork Belly! Crispy, crunchy, savory - they amassed a well deserved following when they were formerly located in a Midtown food hall and this dish is a big reason why. Royal Tapioca (9455 Kempwood Dr). Hands down my mostest favorite Boba and Banh Mi joint. Roostar is fantastic, but they're elevated and totally worth it. But Royal T is the classic $6 Banh Mi that'll tear up the roof of your mouth but leave your taste buds and belly singing happy songs. Over a dozen different Banh Mi combos as well as 50 different beverage flavors to choose from. I get the Classic Combination Sandwich and a Coconut Mocha Boba. It makes me happy. Sandwich Pho Reel (9550 Kempwood Dr). This is the best Pho is Spring Branch. You asked. I answered. And I stand by that statement 100%. Tina and Tony Truong are the owners and their 24-hour Pho broth is deep and rich and unctous you need to go try it. They also have a “XXX” homemade chili oil they keep in the fridge. Ask for it if you dare… Saigon Hustle (1223 Witte Rd) convenently located across the street from my job at the Blue Lagoon, I love stopping in before work to grab a Hustle Roll to snack on. It is a Spring Roll (GÒi Cuón) made with Grilled Pork Sausage (Nem Nuong), fried crispy egg roll wrapper, lettuce, cucumber, mint, cilantro, pickled carrots and paté. I also pick up my jars of Connie Yama's ErrrTHANG CHILI CRISP here. Cuz it's great on ErrrTHANG!! Pho Luc Lac (9457 Kempwood Dr). Which is my favorite Vietnamese spot? This one. Love the owners, love the vibes, love the food. Been going there for years. That means a lot. And, believe it or not, even though it is my favorite Vietnamese spot, I rarely get Pho or Banh Mi there. Crazy, right? My two favorite dishes are Bánh Bột Lọc, which are these Tapioca Dumpling appetizers stuffed with Pork and Shrimp. The shrimp are shell on so they're crunchy. Takes you by surprise the first time but the contrast to the soft, sticky dumpling is great. I also get the M10 Mì Hoành Thánh Xá Xíu Nước, which is kinda like the Love Child of Pho and Ramen. It's Egg Noodles with BBQ Pork and Wontons and Onions in a delishes Pork Broth. So good. So there ya have it. If I get a hankerin’ for Vietnamese I'll be eating some if the above. Drop me a line on IG and let me know your favorite spots/dishes/ Spring Branch+ To Advertise: 713.828.4604 | September 2026

Who Will Care for Us Both of my parents have recently been in the hospital, so naturally my wife and I found ourselves talking about the care they received. What stood out to us wasn't necessarily the hospital itself. It was how much the experience seemed to depend on how many caregivers were available. Same facility. Same level of medical care. But when staffing was stretched thin, response times could vary dramatically. Nurses were constantly moving from room to room, and it was obvious they were doing everything they could with limited resources. That conversation led us to a much bigger question: Who is going to care for our aging population in the decades ahead? Look at the demographic trends and the challenge becomes difficult to ignore. Estimated 132 million babies were born worldwide in 2025. India alone accounted for more births than all of Europe combined. Pakistan had more births than the entire European continent. Nigeria nearly matched North America. Meanwhile, the United States, still the world's largest economy, ranked only eighth in total births. These aren't just interesting demographic statistics. They are a glimpse of the future workforce that will be expected to support a rapidly growing elderly population. And nowhere is that challenge more apparent than in elder care. Helping someone transfer safely from a bed to a chair. Preventing falls. Managing medications. Assisting with mobility. Helping someone eat or get dressed. And sometimes simply spending time talking with a patient who might otherwise be alone.

When We Get Old? These are incredibly labor-intensive responsibilities. I've now seen firsthand what happens when there aren't enough people available. Quality of care can suffer, while the nurses, aides and other caregivers on the front lines face increasing pressure and burnout. This is one reason I believe robotics and AI are becoming less of a futuristic idea and more of a practical necessity. We're already seeing progress in areas such as: Safe lifting and transfer systems that reduce the physical strain and risk of injury for both caregivers and patients. AI-powered monitoring that can help detect falls or changes in mobility without requiring someone to physically watch every room around the clock. Medication management systems that improve accuracy, provide reminders and help patients stay on schedule. Mobile assistive robots that can deliver supplies, retrieve items and potentially assist with basic mobility tasks, freeing nurses and aides to spend more time directly caring for patients. And this is probably only the beginning. I am not advocating that these technologies replace skilled caregivers. Nor should they. The opportunity is to use technology to handle more of the repetitive, physically demanding and time-consuming work so that humans can spend more time doing what humans do best: exercising judgment, showing empathy and actually caring for another person. That distinction matters. The future of elder care shouldn't be humans versus machines. It should be humans supported by machines. As birth rates continue to decline across much of the developed world and populations continue to age, we're going to have to confront a basic mathematical problem: more people will require care while fewer working-age people may be available to provide it. Technology won't solve that problem by itself. But the countries that successfully integrate robotics and AI into healthcare won't simply be investing in technology. They'll be protecting the quality of care for millions of older adults while supporting a workforce that's already under tremendous pressure. And after watching what nurses and caregivers have been dealing with firsthand, I think that conversation needs to start now.

The First Time You See Their Face For nine months, you carry your baby with you everywhere—but you can't see the little face you are already beginning to love. You feel the movements, hear the heartbeat, and wonder who your baby will look like. Then, for a few remarkable moments, ultrasound gives you a window into the womb. Opening in August, Little Bump Studio was created by Sally Huynh, a sonographer with more than 13 years of experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. After years of witnessing the emotional impact of ultrasound, Sally wanted to create a place where mothers could slow down, bond with their baby, and feel genuinely cared for. “Sonographers are trained to scan, take measurements, recognize anatomy, and look for abnormalities,” Sally says. “But something you can't 20 Spring Branch+ To Advertise: 713.828.4604 | September 2026
train is the ability to truly connect with the person in front of you.” In a warm, boutique setting, families can gather around the screen and see their baby’s tiny features— little lips, button noses, fingers, and familiar expressions. It may be a partner leaning closer, a grandmother seeing her grandbaby for the first time, or a mother quietly taking in her baby’s face. For a few precious minutes, everything else can wait. You’re simply meeting your baby.

Aye Candy
Raises a Glass to Expanding
Aye Candy, the speakeasy on Bingle Road that combines candy with cocktails, will soon add a wine cellar to its offerings, further enhancing its appeal as an “adult escape” in Spring Branch. The plan is a speakeasy-within-a-speakeasy: the Aye Candy Hidden Cellar will offer a wide variety of themed wine flights, from bold reds and crisp whites to sparkling and seasonal selections, that pair with curated charcuterie boards featuring jams, honey, and exotic cheeses. “Until now, we have focused on our extensive cocktail menu, but we see opening the wine cellar as a real opportunity that will appeal to sophisticated palates,” said Cristy Velasco, owner of Aye Candy. “It will give us the chance to offer something a little more elevated while still keeping the playful, hidden-away feel that people love about us.” With plans to officially open in late October, the Aye Candy Hidden Cellar will provide an ideal setting for Halloween and holiday parties. For those looking to host their end-of-year gathering in a one-of-a-kind venue, Aye Candy offers just that, with customers able to rent the cocktail bar, the wine cellar, or both. The Aye Candy Hidden Cellar will carry the look and feel of the rest of the speakeasy, inspired by Mexican speakeasies: hidden, intimate, a little unexpected, with a playful candy-inspired motif balanced against the polished cocktail lounge. The only cocktail bar in Spring Branch, Aye Candy opened its doors in June 2024, and the reception has been more than Cristy could ever imagine. “Word-of-mouth has been one of our most powerful marketing tools,” said Cristy. “Once people visit us, they can’t keep it to
themselves and tell their friends. It’s been amazing and fun to watch it take off.” The entrepreneurial spirit runs in Cristy’s blood — she’s also the owner of the insurance agency next door. She never imagined owning and running a speakeasy, but the venture has become a family affair, with her son and daughter helping her. “You never know where creativity, imagination, and hard work can take you,” she said. “I think it serves as a powerful example of that determination.” As Aye Candy prepares to raise a glass to the next chapter, Cristy hopes that the Hidden Cellar will give guests another reason to seek out the tucked-away Spring Branch escape – and another experience worth talking about long after they leave. Aye Candy is located at 1849 Bingle Road. For reservations or event bookings, call (346) 319-4439 or scan the QR code.

Marina Champions Hope at Spring Branch Ace Hardware At Spring Branch Ace Hardware, young champion Marina Guerrero recently turned an ordinary day into something extraordinary. The smiling fifth-grader, born with a rare genetic condition, handed out donation buckets to customers—raising both funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network and Texas Children’s Hospital, the place she still considers a second home. Marina’s journey began with nearly impossible odds. Born prematurely in 2015, she spent months in the NICU and endured dialysis, more than 25 surgeries, a stroke and, ultimately, a life-saving kidney transplant from her father. Today, Marina is thriving. As the 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Champion, she is determined to help ensure that other children receive the same high-quality care that saved her life. Her donation drive found a natural partner in Spring Branch Ace Hardware, a locally owned business deeply connected to the community. Owner Brian Brown understands the mission personally. One of his own daughters was born with pulmonary stenosis, a heart condition that required approximately two weeks of care at a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. That shared experience made supporting Marina’s cause feel especially personal. By choosing a hometown hardware store as the setting for her fundraising efforts, Marina reminded neighbors that miracles can start close to home—and that locally owned businesses can play an important role in keeping hope within reach for every child who needs it. The Women’s Home Expands Recovery Services for Women with Outpatient Program As nonprofit organizations across the country face funding cuts and reductions in services, The Women's Home is expanding access to critical behavioral healthcare with the Passages Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a treatment program designed to help women overcome substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders while maintaining their daily responsibilities. Unlike residential treatment programs, the Passages Intensive Outpatient Program allows participants to continue living at home while receiving comprehensive care, making it possible to remain employed, attend school, and care for their families throughout treatment. "The need for accessible, comprehensive substance use treatment has never been greater," said The Women’s Home CEO Anna Coffey. "Our Intensive Outpatient Program removes many of the barriers that prevent women from seeking help by providing flexible, evidencebased care that supports recovery while allowing them to continue living their lives. We are committed to meeting women where they are and equipping them with the tools, resources and support they need to build lasting stability." The 12-week program combines evidence-based clinical treatment with The Women's Home's signature WholeLife® Model, a holistic, trauma-informed approach that addresses six dimensions of wellness: emotional and mental, financial, physical, social, spiritual and vocational. Rather than treating substance use disorders alone, the program focuses on the underlying factors that contribute to longterm recovery and overall well-being. Participants attend group therapy three days each week for threehour sessions while also receiving individualized counseling, case management, family services and peer recovery support. Services are available both in person and virtually, increasing access for women throughout the Greater Houston area. The program was made possible through a transformational grant from Passages for Women, Inc., whose closure in 2022 created an opportunity for its mission of supporting women in recovery to continue through The Women's Home. Certified peer specialists offer one-on-one mentoring, facilitate support groups, accompany clients to medical appointments and connect participants with recovery communities, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and SMART Recovery. Clients also participate in recovery-focused community activities and partnerships with organizations throughout Houston, helping build meaningful connections that strengthen long-term recovery. The Passages Intensive Outpatient Program is offered at The Women's Home's Montrose and Spring Branch locations, expanding access to women across Greater Houston. Eligibility Participants must: • Live in the Greater Houston area. • Currently have a substance use disorder or co-occurring mental health disorder. • Be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive outpatient treatment program. Scan the QR for more information about the Passages Intensive Outpatient Program or to determine eligibility, or call 713-521-3150.
