A group of us will be meeting on Thursday 6th November to practise lectio divina, using the Bible to help us pray. We shall be concentrating on a passage in the seventh chapter of Mark’s Gospel. Everyone is welcome and those wishing to come are encouraged to read prayerfully this chapter at least once before the meeting. This will take place at St Patricks on Sunday 23rd November during the 11.15am Mass. NEW PASTORAL WEBSITE Please could we have a volunteer from each parish who would interested in the next phase of setting up the website, providing advice on the design element of the site. There will be commitment to attend meetings a few times between now and Christmas. Contact the St Mary’s email address if you are interested in representing our

CHRISTIANS ENGAGING IN A SECULAR SOCIETY A one day forum to address this challenge is open to all at Park Place Pastoral Centre, Wickham, Hants, PO17 5HA on Saturday 22nd November 2008 10.00 – 15.30 There is no cost, a finger buffet lunch will be provided, but booking is essential by 7th November for catering purposes. CHRISTMAS CATALOGUES These charity catalogues for cards and gifts are starting to appear and are placed by the church door. After Mass at St Mary’s next Sunday, 9th November there will be the annual Memorial Service at the East Hendred War Memorial starting at 11am. JUSTICE AND PEACE RETREAT WORTH ABBEY 14 - 16 November Led by Fr Paul Fleetwood and Jane Ozanne, the theme is Prophets of our Time and is an opportunity to look at the lives of some of the men and women of our day, including Dorothy Day and Franz Jagerstatter, who can inspire us in our work for the Kingdom.
