Celebrate the Rites of Spring at the Morse

he Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art kicks off its seven-week celebration of spring with a threeday open house held in conjunction with the annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. All visitors enjoy free admission to the galleries during the festival. Then for six consecutive spring Friday evenings, from March 23 through April 27, the Morse will present live music from 5-8 p.m. during its free open house events. In addition to live music, the events include curator tours of the exhibition Louis Comfort Tiffany’s Laurelton Hall at 7 p.m. The April 6 schedule also includes a family tour of selected galleries and a demonstration of landscape painting techniques, with a free take-home art activity for participants. Finally, as is tradition, the Morse will offer free admission on Easter weekend, March 30 through April 1, with live music and a curator tour set for Good Friday. The Morse is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by American artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany. New exhibits include Tiffany Studios Designs, Louis Comfort Tiffany — Impressions on Film, Canvas, and Paper, and The Domes of the Yosemite, a monumental 1867 landscape painting by Albert Bierstadt. Through April, museum hours are 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday; 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Regular admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $1 for students and free for children younger than age 12. Admission is free from 4-8 p.m. on Fridays, November through April. The museum, located at 445 N. Park Ave., is owned and operated by the Charles Hosmer Morse Foundation and receives additional support from the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation. It receives no public funds. 
