Charity Benefit

The tournament raised $13.4 million for local and regional Quad Cities charities, mostly through the innovative Birdies for Charity program through which charitable organizations solicit pledges based on the number of birdies in the tournament. On top of that, the tournament delivers an additional check to each charity from tournament revenues, direct contributions and the John Deere Foundation.

XX Michael Kim’s 257 total was a tournament record, breaking the old mark of 258 by Steve Stricker in 2010. XX Kim’s eight-stroke margin of victory was also the tournament record, one better than David Frost’s seven-stroke margin in 1993. XX Kim became the third player in the last five

years to make the John Deere Classic his first PGA TOUR victory, joining Brian Harman (2014) and Bryson DeChambeau (2017). X X Two of the four players who tied for second, Francesco Molinari and Sam Ryder, were making their first start at the John Deere Classic.

The signature hole at TPC Deere Run is the par-3 16th, named “Mother Earth.” The 158-yard hole, one of the prettiest in the Midwest, is adjacent to the Rock River with bunkers protecting its flanks. It offers a chance for birdies as the players hit the finishing stretch, playing to a 2.879 average in 2018.
