HOW BRYSON DECHAMBEAU WON

Course Information Opened in 1974, Muirfield Village Golf Club is the dream creation of Jack Nicklaus, who wanted to bring a worldclass golf tournament to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Working with land planner Desmond Muirhead, Nicklaus designed a strategic course over 240 rolling, wooded acres that places a premium on accuracy as it winds through trees and over bunkers and water hazards. Nicklaus has tweaked nearly every hole over the years to make it a better test.

Bryson DeChambeau threeputted the final hole of regulation for a bogey to fall into a three-man playoff, then emerged with a victory on the second extra hole. DeChambeau led through 54 holes, but bogeys on 14 and 18 in the final round left him with a 71 for a 15-under 273 total, tied with Byeong Hun An (69) and Kyle Stanley (70). Stanley birdied Nos. 1417 but bogeyed the 18th and dropped out of the playoff with a bogey on the first extra hole. DeChambeau scrambled for a par on the first playoff hole and made a 12-foot birdie putt when they returned to No. 18 for the second extra hole. Patrick Cantlay took the lead with a 32 on the front nine on Sunday, but a 39 on the back nine left him one stroke behind.
