World-class golf Imagine yourself teeing off on Canada’s East Coast, surrounded by Nova Scotia’s dramatic scenery: sweeping sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and majestic forests. This is a golfer’s paradise. This small province packs in more than a dozen places to play, but it’s the three award-winning courses on Cape Breton Island that make it a coveted golf destination to discover. Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, a pair of 18-hole courses anchored by a luxe resort, have racked up worldclass rankings. With six beachfront holes, Cabot Links (Canada’s first authentic links course) stretches from ocean to village, making for an unforgettable experience entwined

with the natural landscape. Nearby Cabot Cliffs offers a different type of jaw-dropping scenery, with holes situated on wild dunes and high cliffs overlooking the glistening Gulf of St. Lawrence. Play a round at both from mid-May through the end of October.

For another sublime place to play set amid pristine wilderness (watch for moose!), visit Cape Breton Highlands Links. Named for its prime position in a national park, this 18-hole stunner was designed in the 1930s by golf architect Stanley Thompson. The fairways have drawn comparisons to Scotland’s topography, perhaps as Thompson’s homage to the sport’s Scottish heritage, St. Andrews in particular.
