TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

JANUARY 6-9, 2022

Sentry Tournament of Champions Harris English held off hard-charging Joaquin Niemann in a playoff to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions. The victory was the first for English since the 2014 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.

Location & Course Information

THE PLANTATION COURSE AT KAPALUA, KAPALUA, MAUI, HAWAII Opened in 1991, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw carved the Plantation Course into the hills of the West Maui Mountains on a former pineapple plantation. The course was refined and revitalized in an extensive 2019 enhancement. Yardage: 7,596; par 73

Notable Course Features

The last two holes at the Plantation Course are long on yardage, but both play downhill. While the 550yard, par-4 17th is annually one of the toughest holes, the 677-yard 18th plays so downhill that most of the field can reach or get close to the par-5 green in two.

“I knew I needed to get it rolling, and that putt on 11 kind of opened the floodgates. Then I could start seeing everything go in.” – Harris English

Harris English lost the lead to a charging Joaquin Niemann, who shot 64, but English rallied with birdies on four of five holes starting at the 11th. English bogeyed 16 and missed a 10-foot eagle putt on 18 to close with a 69 and a tie with Niemann, one stroke ahead of Justin Thomas.
