2018/2019 TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

May 9-12, 2019

AT&T Byron Nelson Location Dallas, Texas Trinity Forest Golf Club

Course Information Trinity Forest Golf Club, a Bill Coore/Ben Crenshaw design, opened in 2016 and first hosted the AT&T Byron Nelson last year. While surrounded by the Great Trinity Forest, the course is essentially treeless and built on a sand-capped landfill. With a terrain full of humps and bumps, the course looks and plays very much like a Scottish links with fast turf in the playing areas, native grasses in the roughs and a strategic design where the best angles of approach require flirting with trouble.

“I looked at the leaderboard and realized that a lot of people were making an early charge and I knew I needed to kind of separate myself. I was able to do that because my putter got hot.”—Aaron Wise

Yardage 7,380; par 71 Aaron Wise, U.S.

Media Coverage Golf Channel/CBS

Tickets Daily grounds tickets (good any one day) cost $45, available through www.attbyronnelson.org. Admission is complimentary for patrons 17 and under. Military and veterans, along with one guest, receive complimentary tickets. First responders—police and fire—are admitted free.

2018 Champion

Aaron Wise birdied Nos. 7-10 to complete a stretch of six birdies in seven holes and went on to shoot a final-round 65 for a three-stroke margin and his first PGA TOUR win. The 21-year-old former NCAA champion at Oregon shot a 63 in the second round to move within a stroke of the lead and stayed in a battle with Marc Leishman the rest of the way. The two were tied for the lead after the third round, but Wise pulled ahead by four with his mid-round birdie burst, which was capped by putts of 16 and 18 feet on the ninth and 10th. Wise had a 31 on the front nine and finished with pars on the last eight holes while Leishman, who had opened the tournament with a 61, had a final-round 68 to finish second.  Wise didn’t make a bogey in his second-round 63 or closing 65.  Wise ranked first in Strokes Gained: Approach-the-Green at 1.498 per round and second in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee at 1.150.  Wise hit 66 of 72 greens in regulation to lead in that category. Branden Grace closed with a 62 to move up into a tie for third place.

J.J. Spaun shared third place, four strokes behind the winner.
