X Matt Kuchar’s 262 total set the 72-hole record for the tournament that began in 2007, breaking the 263 mark of Harris English (2013) and Pat Perez (2016). X Four Mexican players made the cut, matching the most in tournament history. Armando Favela led the way with a T16.

El Camaleón has a feature that won’t be found anywhere else, a cenote, a naturally formed pit with limestone walls, incorporated into the heart of the fairway at the seventh hole, a 554-yard par 5. Marked as a water hazard but with an area where it is possible to play out of sand, it is positioned to come into play on the tee shot of longer hitters trying to reach the green in two.

X Kuchar also set tournament records for 36 holes at 128 (previously 129 by Gary Woodland in 2016) and 54 holes at 193 (previously 195 by Fred Funk in 2007 and Brian Gay in 2008). X Runner-up Danny Lee had a T3 finish at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2015.
