Horseback riding adventure

March 8 This one-hour, walking ride meanders through the scenic woods, marshes and tidal creeks of Seabrook Island. Great family adventure for first-time riders as well as experienced equestrians. Minimum age is 8 years old. Cost is $115 per person; RecOn price, $20. Advance sign-up is needed.

Harrah’s Casino Trip March 25-26 Travel along with the ORC to Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee, N.C. The $130 per person cost includes one night of lodging (based on double occupancy), transportation, and $40 of food and gaming incentives. Space is limited, so sign up now!

Tour Charleston by bike March 15 We will transport you and your bike to our starting point - Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park - and provide expert guides for our tour of historic downtown Charleston. Brookgreen Gardens Tour

March 22 Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, S.C., is a National Historic Landmark spread out over 9,000 acres. This garden was America’s first public sculpture garden. It now contains more than 1,400 works of sculpture placed in an extraordinary combination of art and landscaped nature. Cost for the trip is $49 per person. This is a PLAYpass-eligible trip. Advance reservations required.

3D archery shoot

March 19 & April 16 These shoots will be “Hunter Class” 3D events with targets ranging from 10 to 40 yards distance. All skill levels are invited to participate. Archers must provide their own equipment; no crossbows are permitted. Each shoot begins at 5 p.m. at the Air Base Outdoor Recreation. Please register two days before each date. Let’s go racing at Darlington April 12 Experiencing a Saturday night NASCAR race at Darlington should be on every race fans bucket list! Discover Sandy Island April 19 Travel along with our staff of tour experts on a trip to Sandy Island in Georgetown County. This island has been preserved as wildlife refuge and nature center. Accessible only by boat, we will learn it’s rich history and have a Gullah-style lunch. The $65 per person cost includes all transportation, lunch, tours and a stopover to browse through the many shops on Pawley’s Island. Advance sign-up is needed.

Weekend kayak adventure May 3 Glide along some of the most scenic and breath-taking waterways in the Lowcountry. Egg Hunt Adventure

April 19 All JB Charleston youth ages 1 to 12 are invited to this year’s Egg Hunt Adventure at Marrington Plantation on the Weapons Station. This free event will also feature music face-painting and games. Children will be grouped into six different, age-related hunts. The fun starts at 10 a.m. Be sure to bring a camera for a picture opportunity with the Easter bunny. Pre-registration not required.

Unfortunately, most parents cannot go on “spring break” with them. The Weapons Station Youth Programs has come to the rescue with a camp at the Youth Center for children ages 5-12. All campers will be supervised while engaging in activities that include crafts, cooking, field trips, games and just general fun. Fees are based on total family income.
