ne of my favorite quotes came from the actor, Denzel Washington. “At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have, or what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” Man, have I learned that lesson over 61 years. Accomplishment feels good. Really good. Being part of a successful firm, and watching a company grow, that’s an amazing feeling. Getting to know and assist our incredible clients day after day, that’s exhilarating! But nothing, absolutely nothing in this life feeds the soul more than giving back — finding those opportunities to return the full measure of success with equal parts philanthropy. In the pages of this issue of RESIDE, you will find us celebrating some of our opportunities to do just that.
Welcome to the Philanthropy Issue letter from the editor

This year the men of Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty, teamed up with the incredible women from our company, and are participating for the very first time in the American Cancer Society’s “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign, raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October. Realtors are like everyone else… we have lost colleagues, parents, sisters, wives and husbands, sons and daughters, to cancer. To us, this is a no-brainer. Check out our team photo in this issue! Join our effort online and donate! Have you heard of the Women’s Exchange in Clayton? Originally founded in 1883 by women for women, it is one of the oldest charities in the country. The Women's Exchange supports women entrepreneurs by creating opportunities to sell products on consignment that they themselves
have made. In addition, the restaurant at the Exchange provides job training opportunities to support entrepreneurs who are building career skills! Women leaders are integral to the success of our real estate world, and we’re honored to be a part of making a difference alongside this outstanding charity that empowers amazing St. Louis women. Another charity close to our heart? As you’ve seen in previous issues, we support New Story, an incredible organization that literally builds safe and secure homes for the homeless in developing countries, or those affected by natural disasters. How poignant that is after the disaster in the Bahamas! We know how that feels here in tornado alley, and we support, through New Story, anyone who needs a house with a safe roof over their heads. Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty also sponsors the St. Louis Film Festival each year in November. Look for that announcement in the next issue. In addition, our amazing agents support bike races, Ready Readers helping kids read, athletic teams, schools and school supply drives, police departments, and COCA! The list is long because the deserving organizations and causes are so many! It’s been said, “To whom much is given, from him much is expected.” Our company has received so much in 14 years of representing the best clients in the city. We hope you enjoy our RESIDE magazine, the Philanthropy edition. Join us in celebrating our St. Louis commitment to give back. The causes are many, so must be our collective commitment to help! r
