Oct 2009 Category: Loyalty and Commitment Kelly Steffes, administrative secretary for the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program, received the Staff Senate Moments of Excellence Award for October. Steffes was recognized under the “Loyalty and Commitment to the University category because of her work ethic, positive attitude, multi-tasking skills and service to both the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program and the DSU community. Steffes consistently goes above and beyond the scope of her job-related duties in an effort to better serve the TR Scholars and DSU. During the past year Kelly has helped initiate a number of positive measures in her role as President of the Staff Senate, including the Jeans Day fundraiser, professional development opportunities and collaboration with staff at other NDUS schools. During this same period she also served as a member of the Future Focused Planning Committee, the Strategic Enrollment Task Force, DSU 2015 Team Four, TR Symposium donor luncheon and a variety of other committees that are helping to shape the future of DSU. Steffes also models life-long learning for our students, having recently completed her degree at DSU. In addition, she creates an office environment where students feel welcome to drop by at any time for advice or encouragement. She consistently puts the needs of the program, its students, and the institution first.
