FIRST FOR WOMEN / BAUER PUBLISHING COMPANY OVERVIEW: Agency secured an opportunity for JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa to be featured as a trip giveaway in First for Women Magazine, and cross-promoted across other Bauer Publishing Company outlets, including In Touch Weekly, Life & Style, Closer and Woman’s World, reaching a very large audience on a national level and resulting in more than 2.4 million consumer impressions. EXCHANGE: JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa provided three nights accommodations for two guests, plus one spa treatment per person, and one day Bali daybed rental. STATUS: Promotion complete. TOTAL MEDIA VALUE: $330,461 / ROI: 24,378% BRIDES MAGAZINE EXCLUSIVE OFFER OVERVIEW: Agency secured an opportunity for JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa to offer an exclusive honeymoon deal which will be featured in the Spring 2017 issue of BRIDES Magazine. ADDITIONAL PR EFFORTS While Diamond Public Relations’ focus is on creating publicity opportunities for client, there are a range of other tasks and initiatives that agency completes on a regular basis. This quarter, those efforts included: PUBLIC RELATIONS MATERIALS • Agency drafted property 2017 PR Plan outlining strategies and objectives for 2017. • Agency drafted reactive statement following November 27 shooting incident in the Hotel Zone. MEDIA OUTREACH & PR PACKAGES • Agency worked with property to finalize “Girls Just Wanna Have Sun” package components and drafted verbiage for property website. • Agency worked with property to create the “And the Beach Goes On” offer at JW Marriott Cancun to impact January need dates. • Agency secured appointment for Chris Calabrese to meet with Connect Meetings editor, Kelsey Ogletree, during IMEX 2016 in Las Vegas. • Agency vetted incoming media visit requests on an ongoing basis. AWARDS • Agency notified property of Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards nomination, and provided marketing recommendations for property to encourage voting among guests and associates. • Agency drafted entry to submit “Kidfluencers in Cancun” campaign for the HSMAI Adrian Awards new PR Influencer Marketing category on behalf of CasaMagna Marriott Cancun, earning a Gold Award. Description: Diamond Public Relations planned and executed the “Girls Just Wanna Have Sun” press trip at the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa, which took place December 11-14, 2016. Agency chose the theme of the trip to position the property as the ideal girls getaway destination, and selected a group of five female journalists representing top outlets covering women’s lifestyle, destination weddings, culinary and fitness travel, and luxury destinations. The trip itinerary was designed to reflect actual activities guests would experience during a girls getaway at the resort, including spa, F&B, wellness, and leisure components. To give the group a sense of Cancun as a destination and the resort’s prime location, agency incorporated an offproperty dinner to a nearby restaurant, as well as a day trip to Isla Mujeres, which as the “island of women,” tied in perfectly to the theme of the trip. As an additional layer to this campaign, agency developed a promotional “Girls Just Wanna Have Sun” package at JW Marriott Cancun, which includes a Bali daybed rental, welcome margaritas, spa credit, and 25% off at restaurants, for the journalists to use as a call-to-action in their press trip coverage.

Onsite Activities included: Welcome Cocktails at Sasi Thai, Group Dinner at KASAI, Happy Hour with Executive Team, Group Dinner at Gustino, Free time to enjoy JW beach/pool/Bali daybeds, Beach Brunch Baskets, Spa Treatments at the JW Spa, Karaoke at Champions Sports Bar & Grill, Tequila Tasting & Group Dinner at Gustino, Yoga on the JW Lawn, Brunch at Sedona Grill.

AGENCY FEEDBACK: TRIP HIGHLIGHTS LITTLE TOUCHES, BIG IMPACT

The staff went above and beyond in demonstrating Marriott’s high brand standards for service. From the welcome rice art on the beds, to the little notes and drawings from the housekeeping staff, to the cooks at the omelet station at Sedona, the group was extremely impressed by the resort team throughout the week. Several of the journalists had dietary restrictions, and at every meal there were personalized menu items to accommodate them.

DAY TRIP TO ISLA MUJERES

As the “Island of Women,” Isla Mujeres was the perfect tie-in for a girls-only getaway — and its proximity to the resort means a no fuss way to have a little adventure. Incorporating local highlights like Isla Mujeres is always instrumental in painting a bigger picture about the destination, which the journalists can then use to make an even stronger sell for the property in their coverage. On the island, the group spent time exploring and browsing the shops, and then we secured a local snorkeling vendor for a a gorgeous afternoon on the water. Before heading back to the property, we had a fresh, authentic lunch at Mango Cafe.

DAYBED R&R / TREATMENTS AT THE JW SPA

After our Isla Mujeres excursion and an off-property dinner at Porfirios, it was perfect for the group to have one full day on the itinerary devoted to experiencing the amenities on property that make it the ideal girls getaway. The Bali daybeds offer privacy and luxury, and the journalists went one by one for their massages at the JW Spa. Several remarked that they had one of the best massages of their life. Since several of the writers are also freelance contributors to wellness and beauty publications, it was key to incorporate the Spa into their experience, for future editorial opportunities long after the trip.

TEQUILA TASTING & GUSTINO WINE PAIRING DINNER

On the final night, the knowledgable and charismatic tequilero from Casa Noble led a fun and informative tequila tasting, and then the amazing staff at Gustino served a delicious wine pairing dinner — creating the ultimate ‘wow’ factor to end the trip. The presentation, service, and ambiance of the whole evening was perfect. The group commented that they had never learned so much about tequila — while the multi-course dinner was elegant and truly spoke to the second-to-none F&B program at JW Marriott Cancun. 


ONE QUICK NOTE FOR NEXT TIME: WELCOME COCKTAIL


On the first night, the property had set up a mini cocktail reception format for our welcome cocktail at Sasi Thai. Since it was such a small group, we opted for a table overlooking the sunset instead where we could all chat. In the future, a table is all we need for the welcome cocktail, unless it’s a much larger group, such as the executive team.
