Una vez que se cuenten con todas las autorizaciones y permisos correspondientes, pensamos iniciar la construcción se iniciará en el tercer trimestre de 2011, y para el año 2014, iniciaremos nuestra operación y estaremos produciendo a plena capacidad.
We will begin the construction as soon as we have obtained all the corresponding licenses and permits, hopefully during the third quarter of 2011. We expect to start operating by 2014, producing at full capacity.

What is your assessment of the work of Xstrata – Las Bambas with neighbouring communities and the local and regional government in recent years?
Una de las cosas que nos permite ver con optimismo el desarrollo de Las Bambas es la activa participación de la población. Sabemos de las malas experiencias con proyectos que nos antecedieron; por eso, desde el inicio, mantuvimos una estrecha comunicación con las comunidades vecinas. No sólo se les informó en qué consistía nuestro trabajo, sino también se les solicitó que realicen propuestas, muchas de las cuales fueron llevadas a la práctica, y pudieron comprobar la seriedad de nuestro compromiso. Estamos conscientes que quienes deben decidir sobre su futuro son los mismos pobladores, y que sólo trabajando juntos comunidad, Estado y empresa, podremos alcanzar un desarrollo sostenible para todos.
One of the things that enabled us to view the development of Las Bambas with optimism is the active participation of the population. We are aware of the bad experiences with projects that preceded us, which is why we maintained close communication with neighbouring communities from the very beginning. Not only did we keep them informed about our work, but we also asked them to make proposals, many of which were put into practice, thus proving to them that we were seriously committed. We are very much aware of the fact that the people themselves must decide their own future and that only if the community, the State and the company all work together will we able to achieve a sustainable development for everyone.
