ART & CULTURE In die Geschichte der Weltraumfotografie kann man in der Galerie Westlicht in Wien bis Ende Mai eintauchen. Delve into the world of space photography at the Westlicht Gallery in Vienna until the end of May. Zum Experimentieren mit Klang und Akustik lädt das „Soundlab“ im Münchner Stadtmuseum. The ‘Soundlab’ invites visitors to experiment with sound and acoustics at the Munich Stadtmuseum. „Van Gogh – der Selbstmörder durch die Gesellschaft“ im Musée d’Orsay in Paris bis 6. Juli. ‘Van Gogh – the Man Suicided by Society’ at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris until 6 July.
> Im Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid liegt derzeit ein großer Schwerpunkt auf Paul Cézanne, der auch oft als Vorreiter der modernen Kunst betrachtet wird. Die monografische Werkschau über den Künstler, die in Spanien zum ersten Mal seit 30 Jahren gezeigt wird, widmet sich den beiden Hauptthemen Cézannes, nämlich Landschaften und Stillleben. Der Franzose gilt als eine der Schlüsselfiguren am Kunstsektor in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts. > The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid is currently focusing on Paul Cézanne who is often perceived as the forerunner of modern art. The monographic exhibition of the artist is being presented in Spain for the first time in 30 years and explores Cézanne’s two key themes, namely landscapes and still lifes. The French artist is classed as one of the key protagonists on the art scene of the second half of the 19th century.
Die Welt von Toulouse-Lautrec The world of Toulouse-Lautrec > Anlässlich seines 150. Geburtstages widmet das Museum der bildenden Künste Budapest dem französischen Maler Toulouse-Lautrec eine umfassende Werkschau. Das Museum selbst ist in Besitz einer enormen Sammlung an Werken – insgesamt 368 Stück (inklusive 10 Poster, für die der Post-Impressionist berühmt geworden ist). Bereits im Todesjahr des Künstlers (1901) wurden erste Werke des Vertreters der Belle Epoque erworben. Die ansehnliche Sammlung lässt sich bis 25. August bestaunen. > The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is dedicating a comprehensive exhibition to the French painter Toulouse-Lautrec to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. The museum itself contains an enormous collection of works – 368 in total (including 10 posters for which the post-impressionist is particularly famous). The first works by this representative of the belle époque were acquired in the year of the artist’s death (1901). The considerable collection will be on display until 25 August.

> Breit gefächert und hochkarätig zeigt sich die Ausstellung „Die Gründung der Albertina – zwischen Dürer und Napoleon“ im Kontext des Lebens von Herzog Albert von SachsenTeschen und Erzherzogin Marie Christine, der beiden Gründer der Wiener Topadresse in Sachen Kunst. Viele Meisterwerke werden dem Publikum zum ersten Mal präsentiert, andere wiederum gehören zu gern gesehenen Highlights der Sammlung – wie z.B. Dürers berühmter Feldhase. Spannend ist dabei der Lebensstil der Gründer, der einen Einblick in führende Kunstzentren Europas sowie ein vielschichtiges Netzwerk und das feudale Leben des Hochadels zulässt. Noch bis Ende Juni zu sehen! > ‘The founding of the Albertina – between Dürer and Napoleon’ exhibition is a broad and high calibre collection set within the context of the life of Duke Albert of Saxony-Teschen and Archduchess Marie Christine – the two founders of Vienna’s number one address for art. Many of the masterpieces are being presented to the public for the first time while others are popular highlights of the collection such as Dürer’s famous young hare. The lifestyle of the founders offers insight into Europe’s leading centres of art, the multi-layered network in place and the feudal life of the higher nobility. On display until the end of June!

Familienporträt über Amy Winehouse Family portrait of Amy Winehouse > Bis August hat man die Möglichkeit, im Jüdischen Museum Wien einen Einblick in das Leben der 2011 verstorbenen Musikerin Amy Winehouse zu ergattern. Persönliche Erinnerungsstücke wie ihre Lieblingsgitarre, ihre Plattensammlung sowie Familienfotos und diverse Outfits geben nicht nur Aufschluss darüber, wer das große Talent wirklich war, sondern zeigen auch, dass sie bis zu ihrem Tod tief verwurzelt in der jüdischen Geschichte und stolz auf ihre Identität war. Ein völlig neuer Aspekt von Amy Winehouse wird hier dargestellt, den so noch kaum jemand gesehen hat.
> Until August, visitors to the Jewish Museum in Vienna can catch a glimpse of the life of musician Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011. Personal reminders such as her favourite guitar, record collection, family photos and various outfits reflect her enormous talent and the fact that she was deeply connected to her Jewish history and proud of her identity right up until her death. This is a completely new aspect of Amy Winehouse, never before seen in this form.
Viva Art Gallery: Liebe zur zeitgenössischen Kunst Viva Art Gallery: A passion for contemporary art > Eine Annäherung von Ost und West, verbunden mit der Liebe zur zeitgenössischen Kunst, bietet die Viva Art Gallery. Was mit der Idee, der Kunst aufstrebender Maler eine frische und lebendige Plattform in Wien zu bieten, begann, hat vor wenigen Wochen einen fixen Platz im Erdgeschoss des Wiener Palais Palffy gefunden. Am 7. Mai findet die offizielle Eröffnung mit der Ausstellung „Smooth Jazz“ des expressionistischen Künstlers und Exlibris-Illustrateurs Zhivko Mutafchiev, Gewinner des „Best Works Prize“ und „Excellent Prize“, statt. > The Viva Art Gallery focuses on a convergence of east and west, combined with a love of contemporary art. The initial idea of offering a fresh and lively platform for up-and-coming visual art in Vienna became a fixed feature on the ground floor of Vienna’s Palffy Palace a few weeks ago. The official opening will take place on 7 May with the ‘Smooth Jazz’ exhibition by expressionist artist and Exlibris illustrator Zhivko Mutafchiev, winner of the ‘Best Works Prize’ and ‘Excellent Prize’.
