What is Sleep Inertia ?

Sleep Inertia is a physiological state characterized by a decline in motor dexterity and a subjective feeling of grogginess immediately following an abrupt awakening. The impaired alertness may interfere with the ability to perform mental or physical tasks.

What is a Circular Economy ?

‘A circular economy is an alternative to a traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.’

What a Circular Economy is important?

Apart from creating new opportunities for growth, a circular economy reduces waste, delivers a more sustainable economy, positions economies to better address emerging resources, help reduce the environmental impacts and keeps the consumption in check.


Headphone industry is growing rapidly with 314 million units being sold in 2016. - Global unit sales of headphones and headsets, Statista

‘Headphones offer a complex recycling challenge, as they are typically comprised of number of materials.’ - Sophia Bennett, Recycle Nation


SYSTEM DESIGN A system for a Circular Economy for headphones is designed as opposed to a Linear Economy where there is no particular consideration for where the final components of the product end up. (usually landfill)


PRODUCT DESIGN THE TANGIBLE VALUE

The motive is to design a timeless aesthetic that endures age gracefully while giving the user the opportunity to emotionally attach with the product while celebrating modularity. So that the product could justify having multiple lifetimes.
