You are invited to attend a school improvement meeting on Wednesday, February 16th at 6 pm in the commons of the high school. Our focus will be on improvements in English, Math, School Safety and Security.

Financial Aid Night will be Wednesday Feb. 2nd for students and parents from 6 to 8 pm, in the commons at DHS. College representative, Kim Brezner will be here to offer information and answer any questions our parents or students may have. Hope to see you there !!

The students at DHS are our number one priority. Over the past few years, we have seen our attendance rate increase to 97.4%, our graduation rate increase nearly 10 percent to 87%, our dropout rate decrease to 1%, and most recently 74% of our English ECA re-testers passed in December. The number of students taking Advanced Placement and dual credit classes has increased as well, being 9.1% above the state average. We are also expanding our AP class choices. Beginning in the fall of 2011, students will have the opportunity to sign up for AP classes their freshman through senior years of high school and continue to take dual credit classes their senior year. This provides a great opportunity for our students to complete at least one year of college before graduating from high school. This is an invitation for all parents to attend technical training for PowerSchool and the use of the parent viewer. If you have an interest in seeing your student’s grades and attendance or would like to receive email notifications for grades and attendance please plan to attend. We will be hosting a series of training sessions on February 9th beginning at 4 pm. Each session will last approximately 30 minutes. Please RSVP with the main office at 260.920.1012 ext 2041 by Feb. 7th, for sessions beginning at 4:30, 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 pm. Space is limited and will be first come first served basis. Please sign up early to reserve your spot. PowerSchool provides a unique opportunity for parents to monitor student progress such as grades and attendance. The Curriculum Guide has a new look, rewritten for ease in understanding. Courses are arranged by department with icons that indicate required course for Core 40, Academic or Technical Honors diplomas. Elective courses and courses with class fees are also clearly marked. You can view the new Curriculum Guide from the Guidance link on the DHS website.

There will be an informational meeting for the parents of current 8th graders on Feb 15th, from 6-8 pm in the high school auditorium.
