From Rafael Dear all, In February 2009 a boy came to Taiwan. He never managed a team, he never worked in Operations or Customer Service. And he did not speak Chinese. However 50 ladies - and some gentlemen - took him in as a member of their family. Together they worked together as ONE family to solve customers‟ problems (including those we created :-) ), improve M&S‟ ability to sell our Product (and not kill each other in the process), and helped each other grow (in terms of capabilities, family size, cargo weight :-) ). Together the OFR Family overcame many challenges – economic problems, implementing difficult customers, OAS issues, transitioning some tasks to GSC, etc. All this means that as ONE TEAM, 2013 vs 2009 we have grown our Files by 34%, CBM by 30%, TEU by 70%. Our EBIT contribution has grown 450% (250% if no 50:50). In 2009, OFR was only 16% of the Taiwan EBIT but now we are at 54%. Now that we have made these achievements and made our “home” larger, it is time we graduate to and have our family sit in different rooms – Operations, Customer Service and Product & Capacity. Our family will still be ONE family but the company wants to move in the direction where we can specialize, and focus our efforts into being experts at our work – whether it is to deal with vendors, customers or with the network of carriers and the regional carriers. We have achieved a lot and now we are at a fork in the road – we have two choices: 1. Stick to the past (how nice our processes were before) and complain about the present (why am I not doing what I did in the past… I don‟t like this!) and when there are trouble cases, immediately say “this is your job!” 2. Have an open mind and learn about our new roles, help to develop and improve our new processes.

Can I give my last request as your boss? As you go through this graduation book, I wish you will: 1. Remember all the good times we had through the years BUT also remember that we had our challenges which we fixed together. 2. Think of how you have grown (in terms of capability not just in terms of beauty). Even more important, think of how your colleagues have helped you grow and how you have also helped others grow. As you turn the last page, I ask you to dream. Think of 5 years from now – what will our 2018 Graduation Album look like? Will we have the same (or bigger) smiles? What success stories will we have? How did we handle our new Organization successfully? How did we help each other and our customers become more successful? … Now let‟s do these things every day and influence others to do the same :-) Happy Graduation!

Let’s talk about

Active Leadership

Following „Give Me Five‟ campaign in 2012, the active leadership activity triggered so many proactive feedbacks and some hilarious memories. To keep the fun part and continuously discover the vast of leadership topic, in 2013 Mr. Alampay assigned Eric to have a series events „Let‟s talk about Active Leadership‟ for all OFR colleagues. Instead of commentary behind the scene, we invited the teams to speak out their thoughts, ideas or expectations about “Active Leadership”. In terms of which, each leader is required to lead a short discussion with teammates for topics linked to “Leadership,” and propose 1-page hardcopy summary as homework. To make sure the quality of discussion, the leaders had been trained to lead a topic discussion in a joint session with HR before. Not surprisingly, the teams delivered profound yet thorough discussions and some of which are very characterized that we decided to include the spectacular contents in this memorial book. Please take some time enjoy the messages spread around the book, placed in their hand-in order.
