Kothabondhu Mithila starring Tahsan & Agnila and Why So Serious? starring Abir and Elita. And the writers of their unique stories Anisul Haque Sagor, Md Sakawat Hossain and Khandakar Noushadur Rahman have worked with renowned directors and celebrities to bring the stories to silver screen. Shafayet Mansoor Rana, Masud Hasan Ujjal and Ashfaque Nipun are the directors of the play. l

Four films hit cinemas this Valentine’s Day n Afrose Jahan Chaity A total of four films are going to hit the cinemas across the country on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Dhallywood gears up to release Iftakar Chowdhury’s Agnee, Samia Zaman’s Akash Koto Dure, Shohanur Rahman Shohan’s Lobhe Paap Paap-e Mrityu and Jadu Azad’s Prem Ki Oporadh. Agnee, the most awaited action-thriller film of this year has already created a buzz through its trailer. It is rare for any Dhallywood movie to catch the attention of web browsers, who are usually busy with viewing stunning videos from Hollywood, Bollyood and others. When the 3-minute trailer of Agnee went viral on Face-

book and Youtube, it crossed 1 million hits on Facebook. The big-budget film produced by Jaaz Multimedia stars Mahiya Mahi and Arefin Shuvo. The film will be screened in 80 cinemas across the country. The industry’s most wanted duo Riaz-Purnima will cast a spell on the audience with their magical chemistry in the romantic film directed by Shohanur Rahman Shohan, titled Lobhe Paap Paap-e Mrityu. The Dhallywood fans are eagerly waiting to watch the on-screen chemistry of the dynamic duo once again. The film will be screened around 70 cinemas across the country. According to the director, it is a romantic-action film. Samia Zaman’s Akash Koto Dure is

being released at Balaka Cineworld, Bashundhara Star Cineplex and Jamuna Blockbuster. The film features both veteran and debut actors. Rajjak is a prominent actor and had a significant role to play in the film while Mostafa and Fariya, both are two new faces in the film industry to debut on the silver screen. Prem Ki Oporadh is another typical commercial film. But the attractive aspect of the film is its debutant actor Hridoy Khan, who has already won the hearts of the audience through his skills as a singer. Along with Hridoy, the lead female actor of the film is also a debutant, Priyanka Shadin. The film will be released in 50 cinemas. l

A television drama titled Lal Kham Bonam Nil Kham will air on Valentine’s Day at 8:15pm on NTV. The drama is written and directed by Mostafa Kamal Raj and features popular actors including Chanchal Chowdhury, Agnila, Sohel Khan and Tasnuva Tisha in the lead roles. The drama is set in the backdrop of 1980s. A rural girl played by Agnila lives with her grandfather, who is the chairman of the village. She is the doting granddaughter of the old man and for her wellbeing and learning,

he hires a lodging master played by Chanchal Chowdhury. At first there was little chemistry between the two. But, Agnila falls for the lodging master and faces rejection. In her determination to win his affection, Agnila keeps up her campaign to make Chanchal fall for her. Finally he caves in and they get involved. Chanchal approaches the chairman for his approval to marry his grandchild. At first the old man reacts negatively, but on seeing their love, he consents. On the wedding day, Chanchal disappears, leaving just a letter behind. l

Anushka Sharma denies lip job Anushka Sharma has surely had more than her share of limelight in the past few days. The Jab Tak Hai Jaan actress, who has been at the receiving end of much criticism due to her apparent “lip job,” finally released a statement denying the rumours saying she is just using “lip enhanching tools.” Anushka Sharma, who recently appeared on the controversial chat show Koffee with Karan along with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, took to social networking site Twitter, saying that though she is a very private person and felt it necessary to release a statement about her much talked-about lips, owing to the “scary direction” that the story has taken. Anushka’s Twitter post on Monday begins: “Hellooooo everyone !! Today I am here to talk about my lips !! Yes ! There ! I said it .. My lips !” “Lately there has been a LOT of talk about me in this particular episode of Koffee with Karan. Mainly regarding my lips. I am here to just convey what I have to say regarding the same. I am talking about it only because this story has taken a scary direction and things have been ‘blown out of proportion’ ( pun intended ;) ),” she says. Theatrecanfund celebrates 5th anniversary n Entertainment Desk

Theatrecanfund (Theatre for cancer foundation), the sister concern of Natuke Theatre Group is celebrating their fifth birth anniversary today through the staging of Thakur Ghore Ke Re. The play will be showcased at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 7pm. The story is an adaptation of Marc Camoletti’s Don’t Dress for Dinner, translated and directed by AL Noman. The plot centers on Samuel and Jacqueline, a not-so-happily married couple. Both of them are involved in extramarital affairs. As Jacqueline prepares to go out of town to visit her mother for the weekend, Samuel invites his girlfriend Suzanne, along with his best friend Patrick. What he does not know is that, Patrick is Jacqueline’s lover.

He hires a chef, Suzette, to cater for the evening. When Jacqueline discovers that Patrick is coming to town, she cancels her trip, causing her husband to panic. When Patrick arrives, Samuel asks him to pretend act as Suzanne’s boyfriend. Patrick mistakes the chef Suzette as Suzanne. The resulting dinner turns into a hilarious yet complicated and slapstick comedy. The director Al Noman said: “I have focused on each character to uphold the features of human nature and behaviours. Since everyone is playing a hidden game with one another, I made changes at the end. I compared human behaviour with wild animals. The drama has been designed on a western concept, it was my attempt to stage the production to relate with the audience.” l

Musical show at American Standard International School

n Entertainment Desk American Standard International School in Baridhara hosted a Western Classical Music Night on Saturday at its campus. The performers included a trio of local and international artists—Lena Olausson on flute, Saad Chowdhury on piano and Towfiq Lena Olausson performs at the Murshed Khan on cello. programme Lena Olausson is a celebrated artiste from Kungälv, Sweden. Saad Chowdhury is a British-Bangladeshi pianist and musician based in Dhaka. Towfiq is a student of American Standard International School who has done diploma in music from the Malaysian Institute of Art. The show was attended by First Secretary and Consul Mohd Noordin Lomondot and his wife along with other diplomats from the Philippine Embassy, Korean Embassy and Russian Embassy, among others. l

Complete with candid commentary from the cast, Game of Thrones Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing, gives fans a spoiler-filled first look at some of season four’s biggest moments. “There is tremendous clamor for revenge, especially in the wake of the Red Wedding,” executive producer David Benioff explains.

“Some of the most shocking and mind-blowing scenes of the entire series come at the end of this coming season. Some very bloody confrontations.” Star Peter Dinklage promises that the newest season will focus on the revenge and retribution that so many fans are looking for following season three’s shocking endings. “I know how important the Red Wedding is to so many fans of the show and the books, but we pick up the pieces and top it in many ways.”

And now onto one of the most important and amazing aspects of the series: Daenerys’ dragons. “When the dragons were first born they were adorable little babies and completely devoted to their mother and couldn’t even eat without her.” Benioff says, “With each season they grow and each season they become a little bit more dangerous. And they’re at the point where they’re not babies anymore.” Game of Thrones’ fourth season will premiere April 6 at 9pm on HBO. l
