VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS CAMPS CAMPERS ENTERING 3RD-5TH GRADES FALL 2019 Located at the Weingarten Building Visual and Performing Arts Camps are the way to spark your camper’s creativity this summer! No formal training necessary, these camps motivate and inspire your camper to be who they want to be and create masterpieces on canvas, with their voices and their bodies.

ART CAMP AT THE J

BEACH PARTY!

Art Camp at the J is the place to let your camper’s imagination shine. Each week will be a new experience with a different theme and/or using a different medium. Campers will imagine, create and bring home their magnificent masterpieces. Guided through the week by an accredited art teacher, campers will work on the skills necessary to be the next Picasso. All campers will have recreational swim daily.

ART MASTERS PAINTING CAMP

What do Chagall, da Vinci, Kahlo, SESSION OPTIONS Modigliani, Pissarro and Rothko have in common? They were all famous Session 1 | Week 1 painters and Jewish (at least in part), so who knows, they might have gotten their start at J Camps! Paint like a famous art master and explore the various movements, styles and expressions that made each famous painter museum-worthy. Moustaches not included.

Explore the art from all over the world. We will explore a different region each day including different mediums, art types, and more. Day 1: Asia/Middle East Day 2: Europe Day 3: Africa Day 4: South America Day 5: North America

Learn how to design and create your very own fashion forward pattern and transform it into fabulous, fun and totally cool wearable art using simple stitching and crafting techniques for fabric.

Spend your week creating art all about the beach. Think about sand art, ocean-scapes, surf board painting and more. Many mediums will be used to create amazing beach themed art projects.

Combine music and art to create our own musical instruments and sounds, paint our favorite musical masterpieces, draw and create to music, design our own concert posters and more!

CERAMICS I & II: ANCIENT ISRAEL

Unearth the rich history of ancient SESSION OPTIONS Israel by learning about and recreating our own archeological discoveries Session 2 | Weeks 2 & 3 through clay. Can you dig it?! Make an oil lamp, oil jug, tile mosaic, menorah, Kiddush cup/goblet, dreidel, Seder plate, challah plate, candlesticks or whatever ritual artifacts you can imagine discovering on this exciting journey through 2,000 years of space and time.

NATURAL WONDERS

Create recycled and natural kinetic art SESSION OPTIONS such as mobiles, wind chimes, pinwheels, jewelry or optical illusion Session 2 | Week 4 sculpture using items found outside, in nature, and up-cycled everyday materials such as wire, string, cardboard, plastic bottle caps and aluminum foil. Learn how to use manmade and natural resources thoughtfully to create beautiful and stunning works of kinetic art inspired by the famous works of Alexander Calder and Yaacov Agam.
