CURRENT PROJECT


CHALLENEGE TO DESIGN A NEW OFFICE WITH GOALS TO ENHANCE EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE, BE ENVIRONMENTALLY-SENSITIVE, FORWARD-THINKING, FLEXIBLE, AND REFLECT WORKPLACE DESIGN RESEARCH. THE CLIENT WAS THE COMMUNICATION AND MARKETING DIVISION OF SPACE X. THE COMPANY WANTED A LARGE CONFERENCE ROOM, TOUCHDOWN SPACES, A KITCHEN, EMPLOYEE LOUNGE, TELECONFERENCING SPACES, AND INDIVIDUAL WORK STATIONS FOR TWENTY-NINE EMPLOYEES.

COMMERCIAL OFFICE

CONCEPT THE GREAT DIVIDE ESTABLISHES THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EACH HUMANS AND CONNECTS THEM IN A CELEBRATORY WAY. A HUMAN BRAIN IS THOUGHT TO BE DIVIDED INTO TWO MAJOR HALVES: ONE MORE MATHEMATICAL, AND THE OTHER MORE CREATIVE. THE GREAT DIVIDE ENHANCES THESE DIFFERENCES AND SEPARATES EVERYONE INTO TWO CATEGORIES: THE ARTISTS AND THE ANALYSTS. ULTIMATELY, THE GOAL OF THE DIVIDE IS TO ESTABLISH THIS DIFFERENCE, SO A PERSON CAN BE ENABLED TO UNDERSTAND THEIR OPPOSING HALF.

CHALLENEGE DESIGN A NEW OFFICE SPACE FOR THE STAFF MEMBERS OF THE COLLEGE OF FINE AND APPLIED ARTS. INCORPORATE A RELAXING ATMOSPHERE, EQUAL SPACE, ORGANIZATION, AND GREEN FEATURES.

CONCEPT

PRIVATE OFFICE

AMARANTHINE IS INSPIRED BY MODERN AND INDUSTRIAL OFFICES WHILE BEING HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY NATURE AND SUSTAINABILITY. THE IDEA BEHIND AMARANTHINE IS TO DISPLAY STUDENT WORK FROM THE COLLEGE OF FINE AND APPLIED ARTS.

CHALLENEGE DESIGN A FAMILY FRIEDNLY HOME THAT FEATURES A BATHROOM IN EACH ROOM, AND OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT SPACE FOR A NONTRADITIONAL FAMILY.

CONCEPT ARCADIA IS A MEDITERRANEAN STYLE SEASIDE HOME. THIS HOUSE IS DESIGNED TO BE A PARADISE; A PLACE OF GREAT PLEASURE, AND AN ABSENCE OF ALL EVIL.

CHALLENEGE I HAVE BEEN CONTRACTED BY A TURKISH RESTAURANTEUR TO DESIGN A RESTAURANT IN IZMIR, TURKEY. THE TARGET MARKET OF MY RESTAURANT MUST BE DEFINED THOROUGHLY BY RESEARCH ON THE LOCATION’S DEMOGRAPHIC. RESTAURANT SIZE: TO BE BASED ON THE SQUARE FOOTAGE REQUIRED TO SEAT 150-250 FOR DINING. A MEZZANINE WILL BE LOCATED WITHIN THE INTERIOR, AS WELL AS A BAR, ELEVATOR, PRIVATE DINING SPACES, AND MORE. THE SPACE PLAN MUST INCLUDE THE FUNCTIONAL NEEDS OF A RESTAURANT AND THE HUMAN BEHAVIOR AND PSYCHOLOGY OF THE CUSTOMER. RESTAURANT CONCEPT: TO FEATURE AUTHENTIC, TURKISH CUISINE IN A CONTEMPORARY, MID TO UPSCALE SETTING WHILE HONORING THE CULTURE. THE RESTAURANTEUR DESIRES AN ENVIRONMENTALLY-SENSITIVE SPACE. MARKETING: AS THE DESIGNER, I MUST INCLUDE NAMING, LOGO, WAIT STAFF ATTIRE, AND THE MENU WITHIN MY DESIGN.

CURRENT PROJECT

CONCEPT ICE & FIRE IS BASED ON THE PHILOSOPHY THAT TWO THINGS THAT DIFFER GREATLY CAN JOIN TO FORM AN EQUILIBRIUM. ICE AND COLD ARE TWO THINGS THAT IZMIR DOES NOT EXPERIENCE OFTEN, BUT ICE & FIRE STRIVES TO INTRODUCE THE UNCOMMON. IT STRIVES TO CREATE A COOL INVITING ENVIRONMENT: ONE THAT DIFFERS GREATLY FROM THE ONE OUTSIDE ITS WALLS. IZMIR IS A BEAUTIFUL OCEANFRONT LANDSCAPE THAT STRIVES IN ITS HOT CLIMATE, AND ENDLESS ABUNDANCE OF SEAFOOD; HOWEVER, NOTHING CAN BE BETTER THAN BREAKING THE MOLD OF TRADITIONAL HEAT. THROUGH BREAKING THIS MOLD, UNCERTAINTY CAN BE CREATED BY THE UNKNOWN. TO BALANCE THIS, ICE & FIRE ALSO LIVES BY THE PHILOSOPHY THAT YOU MUST “CHANGE YOUR LEAVES, KEEP YOUR ROOTS INTACT” (VICTOR HUGO). WITH THIS, ICE & FIRE WILL CREATE AN ICY OASIS THAT WILL SURROUND THE GUESTS, MAKING THEM FEEL AS IF THEY HAVE TRULY ESCAPED TO ANOTHER WORLD, BUT WILL BE READY TO BALANCE THE ICE WITH THE STRIKING FLAMES OF FIRE. LOCATED WITHIN THIS CRYSTALIZED WORLD WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL WARM FLAME, CREATING A HEAVY CONTRAST WITHIN THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT – READY TO REMIND THE GUESTS THAT A TRUE EQUILIBRIUM IS CREATED WHEN THE TWO OPPOSING FORCES ARE BALANCED: ICE & FIRE.
