Eco Charger's Founder - Director Fred Chugg comments,

‘Lithium power sources have most definitely come of age and represent a natural progression for Eco Charger and although there is a small additional cost consideration for customers, there are very definite advantages with marked improvements to power/weight ratio extending range and increasing towing capacity.

STOP PRESS

Launched in early March and now starting to roll out to dealerships and customers, the new models are the Lithium PURE, a 72volt, 2WD bike – the first of a planned ‘work specific’ range and the Lithium POWER, an extremely robust 4WD workhorse.

The Lithium powered vehicles have been carefully engineered to maximise these and other benefits. Furthermore to reinforce our noted ‘green credentials’ the Lithium battery packs themselves are supplied by Aceleron Energy, an award winning ‘clean technology’ company whose products have a unique reputation for sustainability and recyclability and who have worked closely with us to ensure the perfect power solution.’

ISSUE 3 SPRING 2020 ECOCHARGERQUADS.COM

The Eco Charger team have spent an intensive 12 months thoroughly exploring the potential for Lithium power supply whilst applying their unique blend of ‘engineering & design alchemy’ to create two very purposeful vehicles incorporating a host of new features within strikingly attractive bodywork. The result across the Lithium Range has been to achieve weight reduction, extended range, increased torque, improved towing capacity, higher top speeds, long battery longevity with faster charging plus most importantly improved off-road capability.

COUNTRYFILE LIVE – ROUND UP

UK Distributor, Marc Monsarrat comments, ‘We were delighted with the high level of interest in the performance and quietness of the Quads and in the advantages of sustainable ‘green power’ in general!

We ran a lucky draw competition at both Countryfile events – the prize being an ‘Electric Quad Experience Day’ at Keypitts Off Road Adventures’ hosted by Fred Chugg, Eco Charger's Founder Director. The lucky winner was Emma Etheridge, who farms near Blackawton, South Devon and Emma plans to enjoy her ‘off road ‘ experience later this Spring.

Although based on Eco Charger's successful Dominator and Eliminator 2 bikes, the new models represent far more than a change to power supply and a re-badging exercise!

Summer 2019 may seem a distant memory but with the countryside the natural habitat for our Quads, it is no surprise that we attended both of the BBC Countryfile Live shows held in August last summer at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire and Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

COUNTRYFILE COMPETITION RESULT

The weather held good at Blenheim and we were able to take full advantage of our outdoor test track to really put the bikes through their paces much to the delight of spectators young and old. The Yorkshire show presented more challenging weather but our display Quads managed to excite interest with visitors, the Countryfile team itself and the local media. Both shows allowed us to showcase our unique E-ATV’s to a wide audience - providing a host of new contacts and lots of potential demonstrations.

The stunning Upton Estate on the Oxfordshire / Warwickshire border comprises over 2,000 acres of pasture, woodlands and arable crops and is home to the famous Upton Viva National Hunt Stud and racing yard. Set up by Robert Waley-Cohen, a leading figure in the horse racing world and until recently the Chairman of Cheltenham Racecourse, Upton Viva has bred multiple winners including a winner of the Topham Chase over the Grand National fences and at the Cheltenham Festival, and nine other Class 1 winners. The estate is powered by renewable energy, including a large PV array, and a 1MW biomass boiler using woodchip from its own woodland. Upton Viva hosts the Upton House Horse trials, and

first became aware of Eco Charger when we exhibited there in July 2019. Following a demonstration of the Eliminator II, the stud team soon agreed this was the perfect work tool for them, enabling them to power through their busy workday smoothly and quietly.

bike has not let us down despite the copious amount of mud it goes through on a daily basis. We have used the bike for a number of jobs around the farm including fertilizing paddocks, muck collecting etc., and are very pleased with how the bike operates.’

The Eliminator II quad bike (suitably chosen in racing green!) is used for all racing yard tasks, such as feeding the horses and pulling the arena graders, and is driven on average just over 15 miles per day, every single day. To top it off, it’s entirely powered by renewable energy on this estate’s own green grid!

Robert Waley-Cohen adds: ‘As the Estate is determined to reduce its carbon footprint an electric quad bike is a good way to go as it can be charged on site, saves the time and cost of going in a vehicle to fetch cans of fuel from the local garage before tipping it into the fuel tank, and not doing this chore is better for the operatives’ health too. This is just an early stage for the Estate in going as all electric as possible and we are encouraged by our experience with the Eco Charger quad.’

Stud manager Jayne Bushby remarks: ‘We have found the Eco Charger quad bike a valued piece of kit for the smooth running of our yards. In particular, with one of the wettest autumns, this

HELPING A HERO

Two purpose built ‘off–road wheelchairs’ had both failed him - on one occasion sticking in mud and leaving Joe to physically crawl 400m to get home! With his wheelchairs ageing and due for an expensive refit, Joe was offered support by the Royal Marines Charity to find a more robust and sustainable solution. Extensive

In Joe’s own words: ‘My electric quad is fantastic! I use it 2-3 times every single day when I am in the country. It is so easy to drive, especially at walking pace. I feel so in control. It has far exceeded my expectation! I was a little sceptical at first as why weren’t the major brands making electric quad bikes, but I had the opportunity to go and meet Fred and Wendy Chugg (Founder Directors) and test ride the quads on their North Devon Farm. Immediately I was surprised by how quiet and easy it was to drive the Eco Charger and the power of the electric motor was incredible. I also loved the fact that Eco Charger is a totally British Company.

Being able to attach a trailer to collect logs for the fire or tow my clay pigeon trap down to the field has given me a new level of independence and I now couldn’t imagine life without it. For me it’s a relief to have the security to know that the battery range far exceeds what I would use in a day and it’s off–road capability is not going to let me down. Independence is a huge thing for me and I am now more capable because of this fantastic vehicle that has really made a huge difference to my life!’ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Townsend

After testing the quad I was completely sold and since its arrival I have driven the ATV multiple times everyday and I love it. I am able to tick along silently at walking pace with my wife and kid or open it up to give the dogs a good run.

COUNTRY CREDENTIALS The recent winter months have of course been the natural time to engage in traditional country pursuits – including of Game Shooting.

Joe’s love of the outdoors had presented him with a real struggle to find a suitable vehicle to get him, his young child and beloved Boykin Spaniels out and about in the countryside and gain some much appreciated independence.

research including months on the Internet finally led Joe to Eco Charger.

shootinguk.co.uk/reviews/automotive/eco-charger-quad-bike Liam’s comments, ‘So how did the Eco Charger quad bike compare with our petrol quad?

The short answer is well. However I have some reservations over the relatively short battery life and the cost. There are lots of positives, however— zero emissions, low noise, and low fuel and maintenance costs. We may not be in the market for an electric quad just yet, but I am sure plenty of people will be. I am equally certain we will see more of them in the future. It handled as well as any quad I've driven’.
