Available in blue, green, or pink, these monotone timepieces offer a shock- and water-resistant build, an auto-calendar function, a 1/1000 second stopwatch, a daily alarm, an LED backlight, and a matching resin band. Subtle they aren’t, but the Skittles-inspired colors are a nice way to kick up an otherwise conservative outfit.

Great for adding a splash of color to an otherwise subdued summer outfit, or attracting Oregon State fans.

108 OBJECTS FROM FLIGHT 815 T-SHIRT Just in time for the LOST series finale comes the 108 Objects from Flight 815 T-Shirt ($18). Featuring a broken plane graphic made up of — you guessed it — 108 items that were seen throughout the show’s six-season run, including the polar bear, the VW Dharma van, the numbers, the sub, Hurley’s Hummer, the infamous computer, Jughead, and Charlie’s guitar, gracefully printed on a black fine jersey tee with a broken plane Dharma logo on the rear.
TORQUE FITNESS F7 FOLD AWAY STRENGTH TRAINER Whether you’re working or boozing late into the night, odds are you’re going to wake up looking like Uncle Fester at least around the eyes (the bald head is reserved for those with really dick friends). Nivea Eye Roller Gel ($9) is here to help you combat this condition. Harnessing the benefits of your skin’s own Coenzyme Q10, which helps produce energy and works as an antioxidant to defend against free radicals, this gel glides on smoothly thanks to a rolling metal ball applicator, leaving you looking as fresh as those pantywaists that went to bed before last call.
LEXDRAY CLASSIFIED COLLECTION Made from high-quality, weatherresistant materials like 1680D nylon, neoprene, and leather, and sporting military-grade hardware, buckles, and zippers, this unique line of bags prides itself on looking understated but packing more pockets than most know what to do with. Add in features like false bottoms and hidden compartments, and you’ll see why they’re great for wannabe spies and drug runners alike.
WHAT YOU NEED TO ENJOY 3D IN YOUR HOME
oday’s 3D technology is far more advanced than that of even ten years ago. The blue-and-red paper glasses which were the hallmark of old 3D images are gone. Movies like Avatar and Coraline have proved that it is possible to create realistic 3D effects without degrading the quality of the image.
use different technology to product a 3D image.
The 3D technology in a 3D HDTV does result in a premium price. The least expensive models are around $1500, while larger models can easily cost over $3000. GLASSES REQUIRED
It is now possible to enjoy 3D films without even going to the theater. However, you’ll need special equipment if you want to enjoy theater quality 3D from the comfort of your own couch. OUT WITH THE OLD HDTV, IN WITH THE 3D HDTV Displaying a 3D image isn’t possible with just any HDTV. Special technology is required, and chances are that your current HDTV does not have it. You’ll have to upgrade to a 3D HDTV to enjoy 3D content. All of the major HDTV brands are rushing in a hoard of new 3D capable HDTVs. These HDTVs are labeled “3D-Ready” as a means of informing consumers that they are built to display 3D content. This would seem to imply that some standard has been agreed upon, but in fact different brands
DESIREMAGAZINE JUNE 2010
The paper blue-and-red glasses are gone, but glasses in general are not. All of the consumer 3D HDTVs on the market have to be used in conjunction with special glasses. Fortunately these glasses look like sunglasses, reducing the geek factor. The glasses aren’t free. While some 3D HDTVs come with one or two pairs of glasses bundled, this isn’t always the case. The glasses are usually around $100 a pair, and because each brand uses a different 3D technology you’ll have to purchase the glasses which match your HDTV. NOT ALL BLU-RAY PLAYERS ARE THE SAME If you already own a Blu Ray player you may need to replace it in order to display 3D. A new video format for 3D images, called Multiview Video
Coding, has been created. Blu Ray players which existed before this video format may not support it, preventing them from displaying 3D content. Some Blu-Ray players can download a firmware update that will enable this functionality. Before throwing out your old player check the manufacturer website to see if there is a way to update the player. PUTTING IT TOGETHER Enjoying 3D content isn’t inexpensive. You may need to spend several thousand dollars in order to enjoy 3D movies in your home theater. That’s a lot, but if you’re a home theater junkie it will be money well spent. The ability to enjoy 3D movies in your own home will put a smile on your face and will entertain your family and friends. SUMMARY 3D HDTV is bringing 3D movies to home theaters. Enjoying 3D content isn’t as simple as popping a 3D enabled movie into a DVD player, however special equipment is required. This article explains what is needed to enjoy 3D content

BMW M B I K E SONY ALPHA NEX - 5 C A M E R A Never one to accept common formats, Sony has taken a popular idea (micro four-thirds cameras) and made it its own with the new Sony Alpha NEX-5 Camera ($700). Sporting an 14.2 megapixel APS-C sensor and a new E-mount lens system, the NEX-5 is currently the world’s smallest interchangeable lens digital still camera, offering a ton of high-end features like 1080p video recording, ISO 12,800 sensitivity, 25-point autofocus, a tiltable 3-inch LCD screen, and some tricks borrowed from the company’s point-and-shoots, like hand-held twilight mode, auto HDR, and the awesome sweep panorama. Best of all, it takes standard SD cards (yay!) as well as Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, so you can finally use all those relics you have lying around from before your iPhone replaced your PSP.
RED DEAD RE D E M P T I O N Grand Theft Auto-style gameplay meets an old west storyline in Red Dead Redemption ($60). Developed by Rockstar San Diego, this followup to 2004’s Red Dead Revolver places you in the shoes of a former outlaw as he travels across the frontier in search of honor, fame, and a former associate he’s sworn to track down. CUSTOM BAT P O D Yes, that most dangerous two-wheeled of Batman rides can finally be yours. This Custom Batpod ($100,000/obo) is a full scale 1:1 working replica of Batman’s motorcycle from The Dark Knight, powered by a high output 650cc 4 stroke, water cooled engine with direct port nitrous injection, sitting on wheels that are 508mm across and complete with custom metal arm guards to hide the controls. Notably, it’s not street legal, and will arrive with one chain removed so it won’t even be ridable, but considering that only one stunt driver in the world was able to control the one used in the film, perhaps that’s not the worst thing, after all.

iversity. It’s the reason that Poker Stars is the largest competitive online poker website. The software is spectacular, but there are other services that pack all of the punch Poker Stars does. What sets it apart is the wide range of skill levels and play styles that compete there. There’s a broad diversity of tournaments on the Poker Stars website, tailored to many different styles of play, and the competition varies from elderly novices passing time between Wheel of Fortune reruns all the way up to former World Series of Poker champion. And unlike many online games, that have an elite class of players at the top and a handful of victims beneath them, Poker Stars draws hundreds of new players every day. This means that if you’re signing up for the first time, you’ll be playing against people on your skill level, and as you improve, there will always be quality competition. Once a person downloads Poker Stars, they’ll

find a solid, professional looking package of features. You are able to upload an avatar to stand for you while you play, and there are enough colorful backgrounds for both cards and tables that you will not become bored over a lengthy play session. The software is functional, too - you’ll be able to check the recent hands you’ve been dealt, and scroll between multiple tables to maximize your screen real estate. The software oozes professionalism. It’s unobtrusive, loads quickly, and has a screen large enough to be easily read by anyone.
The staff at Poker Stars have spent much of their profit improving the service for customers, and it shows. The customer service is exclusively via email, but it’s thorough, friendly, and responsive. The website is also very secure, there aren’t any incidents with cash disappearing from players accounts. Also, payouts almost never take longer than 12 hours
once you’ve decided to take your money and leave. They’re very flexible, pay through many different services, and require a relatively low minimum deposit of 25 USD. The players at Poker Stars are generally more conservative and won’t make large bets outside of games with higher states. This conservative style makes it one of the harder sites to make fast money at. On the positive side, one of the reasons that the play is so conservative is because experienced players are always on the lookout for someone to take advantage of in a long game – if you follow their lead, keep your eyes open, and watch the low ante tables, you’ll play the role of a shark instead of a fish. Download the Poker Stars software and try it yourself. If you love the excitement of never knowing who you’ll play next or just want to chance to improve your game and take money from your friends, it’s a fun, fluid experience.

ADVISE Be wary if you are aware that the situation described above is happening in your relationship – such struggles can breed contempt and resentment between you and your partner. If you value your relationship at all, make an effort to become personal with your partner again. Jasmine Sliger, a psychologist and sex therapist, advises that, “… something as simple as the way partners talk to each other can make a huge difference.” She goes on to suggest that by changing an invitation from, “I feel like sex tonight,” to “You make me want to have sex tonight,” is good enough. It puts your partner into the equation and makes him feel wanted.
Being intimate doesn’t necessarily mean having sexual intercourse. Indeed, many people complain that one of the reasons for their ‘libido limbo’ is the pressure they feel to ‘sexually perform’. This leads them to feel stressed and unhappy. To take the pressure off ‘sexual performance,’ Steve Stokes suggests that you find other ways to ensure that your sensual needs are met. Activities like having a bath together, going for a walk, giving each other a massage or sharing, “a daily devotion to each other where you take your clothes off and one partner lies on top of the other for five minutes just breathing and feeling the sensation of skin on skin.” Many people have said that when they no longer have pressure to have sexual intercourse, they learn to relax; ironically, sex does follow.
HOW TO AVOID
THE LIBIDO LIMBO Y
ou’re ready for sex tonight but your partner wants to work. He’s in the mood in the morning but you’ve had a restless night’s sleep. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to reach common ground where both of you feel in the mood for sex at the same time. You’re both suffering from what’s called ‘libido limbo’. According to Steve Stokes, a sex therapist and psychologist, “Feeling like sex at different times is a fairly common relationship complaint. It has the potential to become a major problem for partners who see sex as their highest and most valid form of intimacy.” Follow the suggestions made below to avoid the situation where you and your partner don’t want to make any effort and would rather be couch potatoes than lovers.
WORKING WITH HORMONES
Are you confused as to why, sometimes, you’re eager for sex and, at other times, you don’t even think about it? Well, the answer is based on your hormones – during the first half of your menstrual cycle, a woman’s oestrogen levels increases and, when you ovulate, there is a surge of testosterone. Both these hormones cause you to experience a surge of wellbeing and desire (testosterone is regarded as the hormone that dictates the sex drive in a person). It is quite likely that during this time, your libido tends to be higher. Understanding when and how these hormones have an impact on your body will help you comprehend why your libido fluctuates.
DESIREMAGAZINE JUNE 2010
Steve Stokes suggests that you schedule sex as though you would a meeting. For example your partner is a labourer and he likes to have sex in the morning. That’s the time he feels rested and energised. You, on the other hand, are not a ‘morning person’. Besides, you need to get ready for work. You prefer to have sex at night, after the day is over and when you can relax. Consider the following simple lifestyle changes: have sex when you get home from work. Don’t wait until it’s too late and you’re both tired. Or, get to bed earlier so that both of you have some time in the morning together. Couples who have made such lifestyle changes have reported that, at times, the anticipation of simply knowing what might happen later in the day increases their libidos. Many couples say that they start out their relationships with very high libidos. Over time, their libidos become polarized and, instead of enjoying sex, they are looking for ways to cope like making excuses to avoid being together, pretending they’re in a good mood when they’re not and faking an orgasm to ‘get it over and done with.’ In addition, people complain that when they say they’re not in the mood, their partners engage in emotional blackmail or pick a fight with them. Each party then ends up feeling rejected, unwanted and alienated. In other words, each party is emotionally prevented from becoming close to the other.
There are steps you can take to synchronize you and your partner’s libidos. When you have a higher libido than your partner, find out what makes your partner aroused and follow-through with it. Learn to accept that your partner may need stimulation that goes beyond just kissing and caressing him. You can also redirect some of your sexual energy into other activities like exercise. Above all, do not take your partner’s lower libido personally. When you have a lower libido than your partner, try to do things that turn you on. When you feel the slightest pulse of pleasure, open yourself up to your desire and ‘go with the flow’. As explained above, it is not necessary for you to suffer from ‘libido limbo’. Nevertheless, if you recognize that there is a problem, do not wait until it has had time to fester and cause irreparable damage to your relationship. Follow the suggestions made above to redress the balance in your relationship so that you and your partner have a fulfilling sexual life together.

C O N C E P T 6 Six-cylinder power units have always had particular appeal, offering not only supreme smoothness and refinement, but also superior power and performance as well as a truly emotional driving – or, in this case, riding – experience. A further point is that the typical sound of a straight-six almost like a turbine is absolutely incomparable, with straight-six power units at BMW having stood for fascinating engine technology in BMW cars for more than seven decades.
tages in terms of the running gear, weight distribution, and the centre of gravity. A further drawback was much higher engine weight usually setting off the benefits of extra engine power.
Looking at motorcycles, inventive engineers have also tried time and again to offer the enthusiast the thrilling concept of a straight-six power unit. But while a few engines in straight-six configuration have indeed been fitted in motorcycles both lengthwise and crosswise, the straightsix has never really made a genuine breakthrough neither on production models nor in motorcycle racing.
The new BMW straight-six will further expand the K-Series in the foreseeable future. The first model to be introduced will be an innovative and luxurious BMW touring machine. Reflecting the tradition of the BMW K-Series, this will of course be a genuine top-of-the-line product.
Depending on the way the engine was fitted, six cylinders in-line inevitably made the engine either very long or very wide, creating disadvan-
DESIREMAGAZINE JUNE 2010
The BMW Concept 6 now proves that a straight-six, benefiting from the most advanced construction and production technology, may offer not only unique prestige, but also a supreme standard of riding dynamics.
The starting point for this dynamic introduction of the straight-six in the new Concept 6 from BMW Motorrad is of course the extremely compact form and configuration of the engine. The power unit is approximately 100 mm or 4” slimmer than all former straight-six production engines
and only a bit wider than a large-capacity straight-four with conventional technology. The reduction in width is achieved in particular by the slightly over-square bore: stroke ratio with relatively long stroke and very small gaps between cylinders. To achieve this very compact configuration with minimum width, the electrical ancillaries and their drive components are positioned behind the crankshaft in the open space above the transmission. High-tech lightweight construction in all areas serves to make the power unit relatively light from the outset, important components in this context being the two hollow-drilled camshafts and the very light connecting rods. The perfect compensation of masses ensured by the configuration and layout of the engine avoids the need for a balance shaft and its drive elements on the new straight-six, which again means lower weight and enhanced running smoothness. In its layout, the straight-six featured in the Concept 6 follows the well-known straight-four in the K 1300 model series, again
coming with cylinders tilted to the front by 55o. This ensures not only a low centre of gravity, but also very good weight balance as an element essential above all under sporting conditions for precise feeling and clear feedback from the front. A further advantage is that the tilted engine provides extra space for the aerodynamically positioned intake manifold directly above the engine and allows ideal configuration of the frame profiles following the flow of power. The straight-six featured in the BMW Motorrad Concept 6 comes with dry sump lubrication. Apart from greater reliability even under extreme conditions, dry sump technology serves to keep the crankcase particularly low and flat, with the engine being fitted lower down and masses concentrated around the centre of gravity. Doing without an oil sump, the engine may be positioned far lower than on a conventional layout. The oil reservoir is provided by an oil tank integrated at the rear of the engine block. This avoids the need for a separate tank, again helping to make the entire power unit more compact and reduce weight to a minimum. Designed and laid out as a straight-six, the engine also opens up new dimensions in motorcycling in terms of supremacy, power reserves, performance and running refinement. Output of the new six-cylinder will be in approximately the same range as on BMW’s 1.3-litre straight-four power units. Torque, on the other hand, will be right at the top of the range, www.desiremagazineonline.com
BIKES BIKES The Concept 6 shows the absolute supremacy of its six-cylinder drive system also in ecological and economic terms. Fuel consumption of this six-cylinder naturally equipped with a fully controlled catalytic converter is lower than on a comparable four-cylinder under normal touring conditions. The use of E-gas technology (ride-by-wire) then offers further potentials for enhanced fuel economy and riding dynamics throughout a wide range of different riding modes and conditions. And last but not least in this context, the straight-six power unit featured in the Concept 6 offers long inspection intervals through the use of cup tappets controlling the engine valves. Supremacy and dynamism are also borne out clearly by the thrilling design of the Concept 6 and, as usual, this project from BMW Motorrad is more than “just” the attempt to develop a motorcycle of a kind never seen before.
even in comparison with the largest motorcycle engines, such superior power and muscle coming inter alia from engine capacity of no less than 1.6 litres. The engine’s power and performance characteristics are equally impressive, offering 130 Nm or 96 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 rpm and at the same time revving up almost to 9,000 rpm – a dynamic potential quite unparalleled in the tourer segment. This alone qualifies the engine of the Concept 6 as the ideal power unit for a wide range of different motorcycles.
DESIREMAGAZINE JUNE 2010
Working on Concept 6, the designers at BMW Motorrad have therefore focused yet again on technical function and quality and, in particular, the emotional element bringing together man and machine. Their rule, quite simply, is that a motorcycle must not only follow the laws of functionality, but also arouse emotion in all its facets. In a nutshell, therefore, the machine must be simply thrilling. Precisely this is why the design of the Concept 6 focuses in particular on the powerful straight-six engine as the heart of the machine. Conceived as a mixture of classic and modern styling elements in motorcycle construction, the Concept 6, with its long front end and short rear, takes up the design language of the legendary Café Racer. Powerful and muscular, the body elements extend around the power unit finished in a special platinum colour, presenting the engine almost adoringly from every angle.
The powerful and supreme character of the Concept 6 is also underscored by the six-chamber exhaust system complete with sidepipes and the strong presence of the intake ducts again finished in platinum look. Aerodynamic components such as the twin-tipped engine spoiler and the air guide elements derived from the design of the new S 1000 RR Supersports, on the other hand, bridge the gap between functional and clearly visible technology, on the one hand, and the soft and smooth design of other body elements, on the other.
Smooth and soft lines ensure fully organic integration of the power unit within the machine, while at the same time they create a powerful, exciting and dynamic contrast to the sharply contoured front and rear ends.
The suspension of the BMW Motorrad Concept 6 is built around a light-alloy bridge frame as well as Duolever and lightweight Paralever arms holding and guiding the wheels front and rear. Seventeen-inch HP forged wheels as well as the extra-large brake system with its six-piston fixed callipers emphasise the sporting look of the new machine and its high level of technology.
The so-called Split Face, a well-known design element of the latest models from BMW Motorrad, extends smoothly from the front of the fairing all along the top of the fuel tank made of carbon-fibre, again confirming the high technological standard of the Concept 6 and forming an exciting contrast to the outer shell in aluminium with its white layers. The division into three sections created by the Split Face is further accentuated at the front by the LED headlight integrated longitudinally in the machine in its rod shape and by the slender LED rear light extending far up into the seat hump.
The outstanding supremacy of the Concept 6 and its drivetrain is also reflected by details such as the instrument panel intentionally kept in minimalist design but nevertheless completely equipped with all the instruments and gauges required. While a digital display performs its usual function of clearly presenting road speed, there is intentionally no rev counter on account of the supreme flow of power at all speeds. So instead of a conventional rev counter, a LED display shows the rider at all times how much torque is readily available whenever required. www.desiremagazineonline.com

ASK HER... WHY DOES MY GIRLFRIEND WANT TO MAKE OUT WHILE WE’RE AT A BAR WITH FRIENDS? She feels insecure. I’ve acted publicly frisky when I wanted to keep a boyfriend’s attention on me, too. Had he taken this advice, it would have helped me chill: Don’t fool around just before going out (she’ll be hypersensitive to follow-up affection). During the night, keep the covert reassurances coming: Hold her hand, rub the back of her neck. And whisper that she looks so amazing you can hardly focus. That’s what she really wants.
MY GIRLFRIEND TAKES FOREVER IN THE BATHROOM. HOW CAN I GET HER TO HURRY UP? You can fib and say dinner is at 7:30 instead of 8. You can remind her (once, with a kiss) to start getting ready an hour and a half before your ETA. You can also shower and shave long before she locks herself in the bathroom. Beyond that, any attempt to speed up her beauty routine will only increase the odds that she’ll poke herself in the eye with a mascara wand or tear a hole in her hose--either way, the blame will fall on you. Rather than worrying about being late, pop open a cold one, cue

up an episode of South Park, and enjoy some rare uninterrupted time on the couch. I PREFER TEXTING. WHY ARE WOMEN SO INSISTENT ON A MAN CALLING? As a primary form of communication, texting is a little lazy. I know what you’re thinking: It’s fast and efficient, the opposite of lazy. But women want a sense of how you’re feeling at any given moment instead of trying to squeeze a drop of emotion from a few letters and numbers. We want intimacy. And texting makes it seem as if intimacy is something you might be trying to avoid.
I have a female friend that sends me e-mails signed “best.” What does that mean? Is she interested? Sorry, bud. I’d love to tell you that she uses ‘best,’ because she thinks you have the best ass of any man she’s ever known. But it’s just one of those signoffs that doesn’t mean a thing. It’s like ‘sincerely,’ or ‘cheers,’ which are perfectly nice and polite--but not the least bit flirtatious.
SHE WANTS TO TAKE A BREAK FROM SEEING ME. WHAT IS SHE EXPECTING? She wants you to mope, drink too much, and miss her while she tries to figure out what she wants. But instead of drowning your sorrows, you should also use the time to think about what the relationship means to you. Ask her to set a time limit, and agree to talk when the time’s up. Less emotional confusion means you’ll both be able to think clearly. She might realize she can live without you -- but you might find out that you can live without her, as well. WHEN WOMEN OFFER TO SPLIT THE BILL ON THE FIRST DATE, IS IT A TEST, OR SINCERE? Just assume it’s a test. Modern-day etiquette holds that women are fully capable of paying their way and should offer to do so. However, most of us still usually expect the guy to pony up, at least on a first date -- and especially if he did the asking. Rest assured that if she truly wants to pay her fair share, she’ll insist on going Dutch even after you’ve waved off her initial wallet dive.

AVATAR While it doesn’t really live up to all the “#1 MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!” hype, Avatar ($20) is an entertaining sci-fi epic featuring a ecofriendly storyline that, while slightly muddled, is still perfect for Fathers Day.
2010 AUDI R8 GT
2010 MAYBACH 62 AND 62 S
Now even more powerful, lighter and faster: Audi presents a limited-production version of it R8 high-performance sports car, the R8 GT. The output of its 5.2-liter V10 has been increased to 412 kW (560 hp); vehicle weight has been reduced by roughly 100 kilograms (220.46 lb). The R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph)
The facelifted versions of the Maybach saloons are even more self-confident and effortlessly superior, their charisma even more striking. The exceptional status they enjoy finds its main emphasis in the new dominant chrome radiator grille, which is meticulously produced in two different variants. In the Maybach 57 and 62 models it has 20 fine longitudinal bars, and in the Maybach 57 S and 62 S twelve solid double louvres and a “shadow strut” flag up the vehicle’s tremendous power. Both arrow-shaped radiator grilles are also higher and boast significantly greater dimensions than before, and they have been assigned a more upright position.
The R8 high-performance sports car has been a winner from the very beginning. This applies to both the production models, winners of the “World Performance Car” Award in 2008 (R8) and in 2010 (R8 V10), and to the race car, the R8 LMS, which won 23 races in its first season and claimed three championships. The genes of the race version are now coming to the street – in the R8 GT. The exclusive series is limited to 333 units. Each R8 GT has a badge with its production number on the shift lever knob. The production R8 5.2 FSI quattro is already a shining example of the Audi’s lightweight construction philosophy. Its aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF) body weighs only 210 kilograms (462.97 lb). The aluminum body panels are joined to the frame of extruded profiles and cast nodes by means of positive and friction connections. The engine frame is made of ultra lightweight magnesium. The ASF body is largely hand-built at the Neckarsulm plant in a complex manufacturing process. The extremely high strength of the body is the basis for the high-performance sports car’s precise handling, and it also offers good vibration comfort and first-rate crash safety. Thanks to the ASF body, the production R8 5.2 FSI quattro weighs only 1,625 kilograms (3,582.51 lb) – with quattro permanent all-wheel drive and optional R tronic transmission. This made it all the more difficult for the engineers to once again achieve substantial weight savings. They took an elaborate approach involving every aspect of the vehicle, and in the end the scales came to rest at 1,525 kilograms (3,362.05 lb).
DESIREMAGAZINE JUNE 2010
The designers have elevated the modified bonnet and given it sharply defined contours. It has a contoured edge and appears distinctly arrow-shaped. A restyled, horizontally structured bumper trim gives the Maybach saloons an even broader look. Daytime driving lights featuring LED technology and bordered with a chrome insert have been integrated into the outer air intakes. The new exterior mirrors with optimised aerodynamics for less driving noise harmonise with the striking front, whilst their large surface means improved vision. Dark red tail lights and chrome trim used on the handle in the boot lid lend the end section a powerful, distinguished look. This in turn is underlined by new high-sheen 21-spoke 19-inch wheels in titanium silver for the Maybach 57 and 62 models. The Maybach 57 S and 62 S models will in future be shod as standard with new 12-spoke 20-inch wheels in noble sterling silver. All models are available in the new Bahamas Blue paint. Even though the Maybach developers have increased the output of the Maybach 57 S and 62 S by 13 kW (18 hp) to 463 kW (630 hp), they were able to reduce the consumption figures (from 16.4 to 15.8 l/100 km) and the CO2 output (from 390 to 368 g/km CO2). The output of the 57 and 62 models remained unchanged, whilst consumption (15.0 as opposed to 15.9 l/100 km) and CO2 output (350 as opposed to 383 g/km) was also cut here. All the Maybach twelve-cylinder engines meet the EU5 standard/LEV2.
»2010 Delahaye USA Bugnotti Type 57 Roadster
hat do you do when you have a craving for a classic Bugatti or Delahaye but can neither afford one, nor would you want to cut one up to make it into your fantasy dream car? The answer Terry Cook came up with was to build such a car from scratch. Starting with one of his composite Generation II Boattail Speedster bodies, which are manufactured by his company DECO RIDES of Long Valley, NJ, he radically modified the design incorporating styling ideas from a number of different cars. The body itself was designed eight years ago for Cook by top hot rod builder/designer Chip Foose of Huntington Beach, CA. It is a cut down and streamlined version, inspired by the early Al Leamy and later Gordon Buehrig styled Auburn Boattail Speedsters. Relatively unknown clay modeler Vince Gardner contributed a lot to the styling of the second generation Auburn Boattail. The fully enclosed “pontoon” fenders were strongly influenced by several mid 30’s Delahayes designed and built in Paris by famed coachbuilders Figoni & Falaschi. The front tires steer lock to lock inside the somewhat bulbous front fenders that look like a Chipmunk with it’s cheeks stuffed with acorns. The grille shell is a faithful copy of a Bugatti Type 57 that has been chopped about 4 inches to fit the car. DECO RIDES also remanufactures dimensionally correct brass duplicates of the Bugatti shell with reproduction steel shutters in the grille. The radiator shell was capped off with a replica Hispano Suiza stork from American Arrow of
Clawson, MI. Put it all together and you have BUGNOTTI, a car that does not pretend to be a Bugatti, but pays homage to this great marque as well as the incredible styling of Figoni, Leamy, Gardner and Buehrig. That explains the FIGONI personalized license plate. Using a Fat Man Fabrications boattail frame made for these bodies, Gary Brown of BROWN’S METAL MODS in Indianapolis started the project, mounting the body and hanging the fenders, making the car into a “roller”. Because Cook pulled Brown off the BUGNOTTI Project to have him concentrate on building the DECO LINER Zephyr delivery, the project was moved to Delaware. Ramsey Mosher of RAM’s ROD SHOP in Dover, DE was given the impossible challenge of completing the car by a mid July 2008 deadline for a major show. Ram had previously built Terry’s SCRAPE steel ‘39 Zephyr, his 1956 Lincoln “TITANIC” and had worked on an assortment of Cook’s other toys. Because of the wiring complexities of the BMW V-12 engine and automatic transmission and the deadline, the V-12 was snatched out of the car and replaced with a trusty LS-1 small block Chevy V8 and 4L60E automatic transmission. The careful rubbing and loving of the body surfaces to make it mirror smooth was turned over to Brian Butler ot Greenwood, DE. His EAST COAST RESTORATION & COLLISION team did the paint and bodywork using RM black and 5335 Glamour clear. The resulting superb finish shows that classic “black is back”. If you wondered how the car manages to have trademark Bugatti-style louvers in the rocker panels of a composite body, Ram stamped them in a piece of steel and bonded it in place. He also fabricates the sculptured eight stainless megaphone exhaust stacks that smack of a pipe organ. The subtly curved windshield was designed by famed sculptor Stanley Wanlass and is manufactured by RODWARE of Salt Lake City. The car will tour the US during the summer of 2008 and will be exhibited in the DECO RIDES booth at Retro Auto in Pebble Beach the week of 1417 August. Like most of Cook’s creations, it is FOR SALE to provide funds for numerous other current projects. Interested parties can email Terry at firstname.lastname@example.org .
TECHART PORSCHE PANAMERA BLACK EDITION
2010 MINI COOPER BULLY MOSCOW
Black – the most dominant of all colors. In various cultures of the world, it symbolizes characteristics such as individuality, independence and experience – concepts that characterize TECHART and its customers. Reason enough to put the combined experience and individuality from TECHART to work in order to give the Panamera a unique appearance – the TECHART Black Edition.
The car, decorated with the traditional Russian painting Khokhloma by DENIS SIMACHЁV, is a perfect copy of the SimaPhone MOSCOW, the co-project of iPhone Apple and DENIS SIMACHЁV. Changing the color of the car ornament in blue-black variant the designer supplies the car with the calm appearance on the one hand and remains the mischievous tricky character on the other. This MINI Cooper Bully MOSCOW is like a chameleon, it changes colours when the light hits the surface.
The Panamera captivates with its exterior kept entirely in matt black. From the TECHART Aerodynamic Kit I to the multifunctional TECHART daytime running light system in black and the TECHART exhaust system, all exterior components across the board merge equally seamlessly into the matt black design. Just the red TECHART logotype gleaming through the spokes of the sporty TECHART 22-inch Formula II light alloy wheels provides a point of contrast in the deep black and powerful appearance of the four-seater. In the vehicle interior, the Black Edition also does credit to its name. Materials of the highest quality reflect the individual design of the exterior also in the internal space of the Panamera. Finest black leather combined with alcantara as well as hand-sewed decorative stitching and leather piping in flamenco red let the driver feel the impressive TECHART character. In addition, all interior components like trims, door entry guards, cup holder or air vents present themselves in a premium matt black painted design. Quality and precision in every detail - typical TECHART.

»Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce China
talian super sports carmaker Lamborghini surprised audiences at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show with a highly exclusive edition of the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. The Chinese Edition is limited to not more than ten numbered cars and will be offered to the growing group of sports cars collectors in China only. Furthermore the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera celebrated its Asian premiere on the Beijing auto show. “Automobili Lamborghini’s strong performance at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show and its launch of a special edition of the flagship Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce exclusively for the Chinese market underscore our unwavering commitment to China and the development of a super sports car culture here,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “Last year, Automobili Lamborghini achieved 11 percent growth in China. At the beginning of this week on 20th of April, we have launched our seventh Automobili Lamborghini China dealership in Shenzhen. The inauguration of our eighth showroom in Xiamen will come soon. It is our pleasure that we can share our passion for Lamborghini with China’s super sports car drivers, collectors and fans.” Limited to only ten cars worldwide, the special edition Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is designed and manufactured exclusively for China’s most discriminating super sports car enthusiasts. An orange stripe, symbolising the strength of an erupting volcano, decorates the flat grey painted carbon shell of the Murciélago. Every model holds a numeration badge with the name of its owner. The Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is one of the most fascinating super sports cars of all times. The exceptionally purist and even more extreme top model – the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce – is even more powerful, lighter and faster than the
Murciélago LP 640. With the output of the 6.5 liter V12 increased to 670 hp and a weight reduction of 100 kg (220 lbs), the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 2.3 kg (5.1 lbs) per hp. It vaults itself from zero to 100 km/h in just 3,2 seconds and hits top speed at 342 km/h. With its outstanding performance, razor-sharp precision and exceptional high-speed stability, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is the ultimate performance car for advanced sports car drivers. In order to achieve the substantial weight reduction of 100 kilograms (220 lbs), the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce was extensively reworked and redeveloped in virtually every aspect – from chassis to engine and transmission, right through to the interior. The increase in engine output from 640 to 670 hp is the result of optimized valve timing and a reworked intake system. The significantly modified aerodynamics with substantially increased downforce brings considerable improvement to vehicle stability at very high speeds. The large “Aeropack Wing” and its added downforce give a top speed of 337 km/h (209 mph). The booming Chinese automobile market has matured and created a culture in which the brand of the raging bulls has taken root. In 2009, Automobili Lamborghini delivered 80 new cars to People’s Republic, achieving 11 percent year-on-year growth. With six dealerships in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Hong Kong, Lamborghini unveiled a new dealership in Shenzhen this week. Another Showroom in Xiamen will soon follow.

2010 CLASSIC RECREATIONS SHELBY GT500CR
On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the “Frecce Tricolori”, Pagani Automobili created the Zonda Tricolore as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team.
Classic Recreations 1967 G.T.500CR prototype makes first public appearance in Las Vegas the same weekend as the NASCAR Shelby American Race
In 2010 the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori comes to its 50th anniversary, wich will be celebrated on 11th and 12th September at Rivolto Airport (info: www.aeronautica.difesa.it).
Yukon, Okla. (Feb 26th, 2010) - Less than four months after custom coachbuilder Classic Recreations announced the Officially-Licensed 1967 Shelby G.T.500CR continuation car program at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the first prototype made its debut in the same city but with a very different setting.
The Frecce Tricolori (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is the demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine. They were formed in 1961 as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had been sponsored by various commands by the end of the 1920s. The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of 898 km/h at sea level, with nine aircraft and a solo (the highest number of aircraft of any aerobatic team in the world). The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.
Details of the reborn supercar have been a closely guarded secret, but on February 25th, 2010, the first GT500CR prototype was photographed near the Shelby American facility in Las Vegas, prior to an all-Shelby weekend where car owners and NASCAR fans gathered to celebrate the legendary mark during the NASCAR Shelby American GT350 stock car race. The G.T.500CR is the first official 1967 Shelby Mustang continuation car ever built, and each hand-built vehicle features a 427 cubic inch (7.0L) engine, model specific bodywork, custom paint and hand-stitched upholstery. Every G.T.500CR has an official Shelby serial number, badges and will be included in the Shelby World Registry. The prototype that appeared in Las Vegas is the 545 horsepower Performance Model, featuring a fuel injected, naturally aspirated engine, Tremec overdrive transmission, modern coil-over suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, modern vented disc brakes, and a custom handcrafted interior featuring Carroll Shelby signature seats, custom gauges, brushed aluminum trim, fivepoint harnesses and more.

CAPRICORN: DECEMBER 22- JAN 19 You approach work and personal ambitions with incentive and dedication. Increased creativity and inspiration benefits any professional, artistic, musical, or personal endeavor which you undertake during this period. You may select one particular interest, hobby, or project which appeals to you and get carried away in the process of achieving your objectives. If you want to achieve something during this time, you should avoid daydreaming about it or getting caught up in selfindulgence. Personal acquaintances and professionals could provide assistance and cooperation as long as you make yourself available and accessible now. AQUARIUS: JAN 20- FEB 18 Your thoughts turn to love and this is a favorable time to bring out any concerns you have in your personal relationships. Agreements and cooperation can be achieved easily now. You readily discuss your personal needs and desires. Also, you are more aware of beauty and may want to rearrange your decor or buy something to beautify your surroundings. A fast pace, with many letters, phone calls, errands, meetings, or discussions, is on the agenda. You may feel mentally restless, impatient, and overly eager to get your own ideas across. Also, a situation may arise which requires you to say what is on your mind, to make a decision, or to clearly voice your personal opinion on some issue. PISCES: FEBRUARY 19- MARCH 20 A certain amount of self-control is essential in a romantic relationship at this time. Your affections and emotions are more apt to be expressed with an urgency and intensity that approaches obsession. In some ways, you may be feeling a tremendous sense of responsibility or devotion toward your mate, or you may rely too heavily upon your partner to supply you with assurances, dependability, and emotional fulfillment. In a strong and sound relationship, any imbalance or tensions might only require minor adjustments. However, if a love union is unstable or lacking in security, this may be a time when separations, break-ups, or unfriendliness and hostility can occur. Also, business partnerships, work or financial areas of your life may be affected during this time period. You might have to use more discretion and constraint with regard to these interests as well. ARIES: MARCH 21-APRIL 20 This can be a time when you have a very insightful mind and a very sharp tongue. On the other hand, you might feel that the words of others are stinging you now. This can be a great time to do mental work which requires concentration. You have the ability to filter out distractions and crack through difficult material. Be careful, however, that your intensity does not lead to aggression on your part and conflicts with others. TAURUS: APRIL 21-MAY 20 Effective communication skills may afford you new opportunities to get your message across and express yourself to others. At this time, your communicating ability can go beyond words, and therefore, you also relate well on physical, spiritual and emotional levels with others. You may be able to discover ideas and insights that others may have overlooked, also giving you a chance to help people see things from a new perspective. In business as well as in personal life, you can reconcile differences with those around you without giving up your individuality and beliefs. GEMINI: MAY 21- JUNE 21 Someone is likely to offer you a very promising opportunity at this time, or you may have an offer for someone else that you think will be mutually beneficial. The offer seems like a “deal that can lead to tremendous growth and success, and yet you wonder if it is too good to be true. Because there are risks involved, it is impossible to know whether the offer will work out well, and you consequently are likely to feel uncertain what to do. In truth, there is definitely the potential for opening up new avenues for success and fulfillment, but there is also a tendency to overshoot the mark due to overoptimism and a willingness to gamble and speculate. The best course is usually to proceed with some kind of plan, but to thoroughly investigate all details as much as possible and to avoid wild speculation. CANCER: JUNE 22- JULY 22 Revitalizing or renewing family involvements and close relationships is accented now. You may respond more emotionally than usual to loved ones, children, and friends and experience a very deep need to give and receive love, care, and nurturing. This is a also a good time for making effective changes or bringing a sense of order and control to your domestic and private life. A long-standing problem or unresolved issue between you and a loved one may begin to improve or you can show more compassion or understanding when trying to heal past wounds and differences. Other domestic or personal changes can occur now, such as planning to start a family, a pregnancy, a birth, or assuming some type of caretaking responsibility for a loved one, parent, child, or friend. If anyone in
DESIREMAGAZINE JUNE 2010
your surroundings is in special need of healing or attention, you will prove your loyalty, strength, and devotion by going to great lengths to help this individual. On the other hand, this period can signify a time when you find it easier to release yourself from negative attachments. Although any loss can be quite painful, your desire is to form more positive and healthy relationships with room for growth rather than to remain in a situation which is unfulfilling or destructive. LEO: JULY 23- AUGUST 23 Personal gains may come through professional or influential connections in your business life. Therefore, make certain you put your energies and service at their disposal. Cooperation, devotion to your work obligations, and a spirit of enthusiasm may bring some type of recognition or reward for your efforts. All business or legal matters, as well as travel and academic interests, appear more promising at this time. You may be in an optimistic and expansive mood which increases your vitality and brings you maximum efficiency and productivity on the job. VIRGO: AUGUST 23-SEPTEMBER 23 You may feel relief by bringing certain issues out in the open at this time. If you have any worries or concerns in your personal life, this is a good time to search for the resources to resolve them. During this period there can be opportunities to heal or stabilize your relations with friends, family members, siblings, and close associates. Your wit and humor can assist you in talking your way out of a complicated or long-standing situation and get things back on track rather quickly. This can be a time for optimism and hope. You have a chance to expand what you are doing and to gain recognition for it as well. Your wisdom, your knowledge and your ability to teach may be in evidence as others are ready to hear what you have to say. This can also be a time when you have a great understanding of what makes you tick and what is best for your future. LIBRA: SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 23 This is an enjoyable period for home and career interests. You feel more confident now and portray to others a strong sense of pride in either family, work, or creative endeavors. You may receive benefits or rewards and opportunities at your job as your leadership abilities are easily accepted by others. Or if you have children, they may receive scholarship awards or artistic honors and enjoy confidence in their abilities. There may be an opportunity now to rejuvenate and improve a relationship with a parent. In addition, your love and acceptance toward loved ones offers them an opportunity to release their fears or feelings of grief and sorrow. You emerge from this cycle more compassionate, mature, and sympathetic. SCORPIO: OCTOBER 23- NOVEMBER 21 Opportunities that benefit your career and public life will present themselves, as long as you remain clear-headed about what your goals and directions are. If you are aware of what you want to accomplish, you may reap the benefits and success of your achievements. This is a favorable period for making intelligent decisions regarding your career and creative planning. You have a natural ability to grasp knowledge and learn from your work environment. Family members and intimate relationships may support your efforts to accomplish your desired goals. SAGITTARIUS: NOVEMBER 23 - DEC 21 Some adjustments in the way you express yourself and treat others are required now. Others may complain that you are not sincere with them, or that you are too domineering or passive or unfair in some respect. You may also find yourself feeling the need to approach others about the way they express themselves and treat others. This is the time to evaluate whether you are guilty of any hypocrisies, insincerities, or laxness in expressing the ideals and beliefs that are important to you. You may find yourself feeling disappointed in others or losing confidence in yourself but do not allow yourself to wallow in self-pity and negative feelings. Instead, try to see clearly where changes are needed and make them. You can find ways to be more sympathetic, understanding, and honest now and break old habits of indifference and negligence to others.

BOOMER 8N TRACTOR With a classic red and gray design that dates back to the 1940s and modern tech under the bonnet, the Boomer 8N Tractor ($TBA) is, well, a modern classic. This old-timey tractor is powered by a 50hp, four-cylinder diesel engine, and features a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for a car-like feel, a four-wheel drive axle for SUV-like handling, a large operating platform for maximum comfort, and a threepoint hitch for easy attachment of add-ons. Those green/yellow-driving neighbors of yours are going to be jealous.
DOANE DAILY ARSENAL KIT No matter what your day brings you, you can rest assured that you’ve got the tools to tackle it with the Doane Daily Arsenal Kit ($66). This 21-piece set includes every single stationery product from Doane’s grid+lines collection, including large and small writing pads, a flap jotter, two utility notebooks, large and small idea journals, and, of course, pens and pencils. Sure, you could pick out all of this stuff separately, but face it: you’re way too lazy for that.
GERBER AO F.A.S.T. 3.0 KNIFE Not content to just let a knife be a knife, the Gerber AO F.A.S.T. 3.0 Knife ($75) has a few tricks up its sleeve. Its Forward Action Spring Technology ensures the serrated edge blade is open quickly when you need it, and it also packs a bottle opener, carabiner clip, and a modified drop point that eases use when your mission is spreading, not slicing.
HUSQVARNA DXR 310 DEMOLITION ROBOT Never mind the fact that you probably have no use for a big, expensive, and heavy demolition robot — you’re going to want one anyway. The Husqvarna DXR 310 Demolition Robot ($TBA) is like having your own life-size Transformer to play around with, breaking down walls, doors, and anything else you can imagine. It features a robotic arm that reaches over 15 feet, a modern remote control that offers Bluetooth, a 3.5inch screen, one-handed operation, and the ability to pass through normal doorways and climb stairs — if it hasn’t ripped them apart already. To hell with actual work though - you should just use it to wreak apocalyptic havoc on your neighborhood, then tell the police a drunken Optimus Prime is to blame.

CRAFTSMAN C 3 L AW N C A R E L I N E Take care of your turf from top to bottom with the new Craftsman C3 Lawn Care Line. Comprised of the C3 String Trimmer ($135), C3 Hedge Trimmer ($100), C3 Sweeper ($80), and the C3 Chain Saw ($110), all of which are powered by the C3’s interchangeable 19.2 volt lithium-ion batteries, which recharge in an hour or less, with a red-to-green charge indicator and a common Craftsman interface which make them compatible with many power tools you may already own. The chain saw is the only piece that you can buy right now, but they’ll all be on sale soon.
BYRD HARP MULTI TOOL It’s about time someone designed a true multi-tool that didn’t look like a Swiss Army knife. The Byrd Harp Multi Tool ($35) instead borrows its design from the stringed musical instrument, with functional slotted- and Phillips-head screwdrivers, a punch/awl, a gimlet, a mini-saw, a corkscrew, a file, and a small/large head hammer that doubles as a bottle opener, all of which rotate out individually from an outer ring and fold flat for insertion into an included leather carrying case.
LEATHERMAN MUT MULTI-TOOLS Whether you’re a handyman, a soldier, or a crazy, bomb-defusing badass, you’re sure to find at least one of the Leatherman MUT Multi-Tools ($150) works for you. These multitools were built with the military in mind, containing specialized components for handling maintenance on the M16/AR15 family of rifles, but still contains the common tools — like screwdrivers, hammer, saw, knife, wire cutters, pliers, and, of course, a bottle opener — that regular joes care about.
