Asif Ali Zardari

I

t is with great pleasure that I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the delegates, exhibitors and trade visitors from friendly countries, whose presence at IDEAS 2012 will be symbolic of their indirect support to Pakistan and reflective of mutually beneficial relations. We share common interests and perceptions and the theme of the exhibition ‘Arms for Peace’ manifests our shared objectives of global peace through regional conventional arms balance and deterrence.

President’s Message

President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Major General Tahir Ashraf Khan HI(M) Director General, DEPO

I

t is a matter of great satisfaction and pleasure for DEPO to be the organizer for IDEAS. It was inopportune to cancel IDEAS 2010 due to disastrous floods in the country, leaving more than 2.6million people displaced and homeless. The chronicle of the IDEAS series is one of continuous successes, with IDEAS 2008 as the most consequential in the history of the exhibition industry of Pakistan. I say this with great pride that over the last decade, IDEAS has emerged with prominence on the map of global defence exhibitions. IDEAS is an established rendezvous in this part of the world for convergence of international defence exhibitors, delegations, security analysts and top policy planners where defence and security of the future takes shape through a series of different conferences and a well attended seminar. It provides a platform to showcase technology of tomorrow and innovations in defence with more than 2000 weapons systems and items of equipment on display; it is a market place of innovative ideas and also brings together international manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to explore the opportunities for cooperation in the field of defence production through joint ventures, outsourcing and collaboration.

Director General’s Message

IDEAS exemplifies a successful public and private sector partnership. It has grown in its reach, participation and international attendance to a level that is ‘second to none’ in the region. In addition, the profile of the high level delegations visiting Pakistan to attend this exhibition adds to the prestige and stature of this event. IDEAS, in fact, is a great meeting point to promote friendship and cooperation. I look forward to extending warm welcome to the distinguished participants of IDEAS 2012.

Welcome to Pakistan’s most important defence conference

About the conference

T

he conference is the inaugurating centrepiece of IDEAS 2012 where the Government of Pakistan, the Service Chiefs and major international military delegations launch a seminar and exhibition with over 24,000 people, making it one of the biggest defence events in the world. With the conference attended by 500 people – mostly flag officers and senior government representatives – this seminal part of IDEAS 2012 brings together a concentration of the foremost minds and key decision makers in global defence. What’s new for 2012?

W

e have plans to make this the largest conference in the history of IDEAS and so we have extended it to three separate days which will include over 40 speakers of the most senior, strategic-level positions in military and government. We are focusing this conference on security aspects which will help the region find stability and in order to do that we have geared it to be as conducive to innovation and business as possible. For the first time, the conference will feature opportunities for industry to have breakout meetings with the people buying their solutions directly enabling you to engage with new customers and become front of mind for future acquisitions and partnerships.

Why Pakistan?

P

akistan’s ever growing defence industry is in quest for seeking international alliances to meet the requirements of its armed forces and the growing needs of the regional defence forces. Pakistan’s own defence products present a perfect mix of indigenous and foreign technologies thus offering an ideal platform for defence collaboration. The most volatile geopolitical region in Asia has now become one of the largest markets for defence products. The changing international security milieu has brought militaries and governments closer together to share their ideas and plans to meet the requirements to maintain regional and global peace. With a defence budget of almost $6billion, uniquely placed with strategic alliances with the West and the East, Pakistan also enjoys the status of being one of the foremost Muslim countries in the world, sharing special relationships and access with the rising powers of the Middle East and China, whilst offering an eclectic and diverse range of direct and indirect business opportunities itself.

Sponsorship Opportunities: The Benefits of getting involved Whether your objective is to break into new markets, cement your reputation as the leading solution provider, or you want to make sure you are front of mind with your target customers, IDEAS 2012 conference sponsorship is the ideal platform to get your message across. • Demonstrate thought leadership – Speaking on the programme will allow you to demonstrate your knowledge, place your products and pitch to an audience of decision makers of the highest caliber as part of a non-biased, military led, truly international conference. • Generate new sales leads – The IDEAS conference brings together a unique collection of key decision makers, influencers and budget holders in the global defence sector – especially Africa, Middle East and Asia. By presenting and exhibiting you can impact and engage with these buyers – the high quality of delegate attendance and contracts generated will lead to high conversion rates. • Meet the buyers and speakers - What better way to engage your potential customers than to enjoy the sponsors’ privilege of a private dining experience with the keynote speakers and potential customers?

Why Pakistan?

• Launch new products or services – Use this seminal event as a launch pad to promote your latest products or systems. With the most senior figures from the community in your audience, plus carefully selected media partners at the event, innovative technology will always leave an impression. • Enter new and emerging markets – Sponsorship is one of the most effective ways to enter new markets. It is a great way to research and network whilst gaining exposure to a qualified audience.
