Welcome to the August issue. I hope you've had a chance to get away and take vacation. If not, August affords a wonderful opportunity and perhaps the final opportunity of the summer season. We are so fortunate in this area to be only a few hours' drive away from both the North Carolina and South Carolina coasts with many fantastic destination choices awaiting! There is nothing quite like the feeling of sand between your toes, that ocean breeze blowing through your hair, and the sound of waves crashing ashore!

When I was growing up, my family visited Myrtle Beach for our summer vacation. I would so look forward to spending the week there, usually the week after July Fourth. The pool at the hotel was great, but I always wanted to go to the beach, feel the warm ocean water as it ran across my feet, and the sunshine and wind on my face. I have so many fond memories of the Grand Strand area from my youth!
