www.whatsonderrylondonderry.com Culture Night will see cultural venues across the City of Derry open their doors for a programme of entertainment, discovery and adventure. On Friday September 21st 2012, locals and visitors across the island of Ireland will enjoy the unique experience of Culture Night, a free night of entertainment, discovery and adventure taking place in 34 locations throughout Ireland.

Cascade Gallery, Waterside Theatre Peter Tudhope Exhibition

Waterside Theatre Peter attended Edinburgh, Glasgow and Glendermott Road Manchester Arts schools, attaining an Honors degree from Glasgow and Masters Waterside Degree from Manchester. He worked in many different jobs to make a living including as an T: 028 7134 5180 Art teacher, College Tutor, fabricating large scale public sculpture and marketing artists.

‘Catwalk in the Craft Village’

8pm – 12 midnight Joe Carlin Creative Events in association with Void The Craft Village Bringing the ever popular Culture Night Fashion Show to the newly regenerated Craft T: 078 6496 5733 Village. This year’s production promises to deliver a showcase of Derry Fashion Talent in the run up to 2013.

Dress up and show up. Music will follow by ‘outlaw superstars’ The Murder Balladeers.

Centre for Contemporary Art

6pm – 9pm Throughout, Peter has exhibited his paintings and drawings in galleries throughout the UK. In 2010 he decided to paint as a full time occupation. Soon after he started to visit Northern Ireland on a regular bases and is in the process of relocating from Scotland. Admission Free 2

Culture Night Derry~Londonderry 2012

CCA’s exhibition Contours of Common will take place throughout the city of Derry. It will feature new and recent works Lara Centre for Contemporary Art Almarcegui; Amy Balkin; Andrew Dodds; Andrea Geyer; Sean Lynch; Seamus Nolan; 10-12 Artillery Olivia Plender; and Johan Tirén. Craft Connect The new Craft Village Collective Shop located in the Craft Village Square will be open for Culture Night on 21 September 2012. There will be craft demonstrations throughout the evening. Come along and meet the makers.

CowParade NI Trail CowParade is the world’s largest and most successful public art exhibition, having taken place in over 75 cities globally since it started in 1999. It brings life-size fibre-glass reinforced cows to the streets.

Cultural Treasure Trail Discover the unique cultural treasures the City of Derry has to offer. Taking in the unique arts cultural and historic sites of the city.

Culturlann Ui Chanain Cóisir an Tí – Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, the home of Irish culture, presents their ‘Irish House party’. Visitors will experience a top quality cultural experience, with Irish traditional music, song, dance, Irish language, and Irish food – and a chance to join in. Don’t miss the party!

Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company Dance and Music performance With it’s home in Derry~Londonderry, Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is one of Ireland’s leading dance companies. For Culture Night, the company will produce a 30-minute improvised dance performance accompanied by live music from acclaimed local composer Christopher Norby. These dancers have fearless improvisory skills, and alongside Christopher’s awesome musical talent, they will leave you breathless.

St. Augustine’s Church St. Augustine’s is a beautiful, welcoming little Church, tucked away at the bottom of the Grand Parade on the historic City Walls. Visitors comment on its architecture, its aura of serenity, the friendliness of its welcome and its windows which feature some of the finest and most colourful stained glass to be found in the city. St. Augustine’s will be open from 10am and from 7pm – 9pm will feature performances from the Church Choir, Ardmore Folk Group and Foyle and Londonderry College Jazz Ensemble. A Cultural Talk will also feature – see local press for details. So why not come along to see us, listen to the music or browse the chutney, jam and pickles in our Pop-up shop!

St. Columb’s Cathedral Open to visitors to see the cathedral, the audio visual running on the history of the building and the silver and siege artifacts will be on display in the Chapter House. Enjoy music played by the Dean on the organ during the evening.
