Taste of North Carolina Guests, NCRLA would like to thank you for attending this event and showing your support for the industry, the hospitality award winners, and the food and beverage producers from around North Carolina. The Taste of North Carolina strives to bring you a night of fun, networking, and delicious foods that will not soon be forgotten. This event began as a concept in 2009 to showcase the kind of remarkable culinary delights can be constructed using only North Carolina products. In 2010, the Taste debuted with 18 food, beer and wine partners and a sellout crowd of 350 guests. The 2011 Taste of North Carolina will feature over 25 food, beer and wine partners, and will once again be a hot-ticket event. The goal of this event is to encourage hospitality owners and operators to ‘think NC’ when ordering food products for their restaurant or hotel. As you can see from the wide variety of products at this event, North Carolina is home to almost any kind of food or beverage you could possibly desire. The aforementioned 25 food and beverage partners are listed in this reference guide, and we encourage you to think about them when ordering products to serve in your restaurant or hotel. NCRLA would also like to thank The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club for serving as a staggeringly good host to the first two Taste of North Carolina events. The Washington Duke’s hospitality, elegance and class make them the perfect example of why North Carolina is known for its class, style and hospitality. We certainly hope you enjoyed your visit to the Taste of North Carolina, and we look forward to seeing you next year at The Pinehurst Resort, as NCRLA celebrates it’s 65th Anniversary. We already are working hard on this event, and plan to unveil the documentary being filmed here tonight, highlighting NCRLA’s 65 years of service on behalf of the hospitality industry. We look forward to seeing you there! Best Wishes,

Robert Poitras & 2010 NCRLA Chair

Butterball Butterball LLC, which manufactures food products in the United States and internationally, specializes in turkey, cured deli meats, raw roasts and specialty products such as soups and salads, sandwiches, and entrÊes. Butterball LLC was a joint venture of Smithfield Foods and Maxwell Farms Inc., an affiliate of the Goldsboro Milling Co. Seaboard Corporation bought Smithfield’s stake in Butterball in 2010. The company sells over one billion pounds of turkey a year, including one in every five turkeys sold in the United States and operates the world’s largest turkey-processing plant (675,000 square feet) in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Beginning in late 1981, Butterball opened a toll-free telephone line called the Turkey Talk-Line to help customers with cooking and preparation questions. Eleven thousand people called in 1981, and in recent years the number has grown to over 200,000 each holiday season. Each of the operators holds a degree in either dietetics or home economics, roughly half of which are Masters-level. The most frequent question asked is how long a turkey takes to defrost.

Accent Partners Founded 30 years ago by brothers who came to America from the mountainous region of northern Lebanon, Neomonde has a spirit all its own. That’s because the Saleh brothers Samir (“Sam”), Joseph (“Joe”), Mounir, and DeGaulle decided long ago that anything they sell must be good enough to serve their own family. They consider it their responsibility as ambassadors of their country and their culture to provide nothing less than the best. Every day, Neomonde bakes more than 10,000 pieces of bread. Some pieces will be served, hot and fragrant, in restaurant and hotel dining rooms. Some pieces will be loaded onto trucks and delivered to schools, hospitals, and cafeterias. Some will soon find themselves on the shelves of supermarkets, independent grocery stores, convenience stores, and ethnic markets. With Neomonde, you’ll find bread and pastries that promise consistency in quality, size, texture, and taste!

This famous blend of 3 different types of peppers is aged to perfection to bring out the natural, bold flavor. The result is a rich, delicious sauce with strong cayenne overtones. This is the sauce that true hot sauce lovers have used since the 1930’s to spice up barbecue, eggs, pizza, chicken, veggies, and just about everything else. Texas Pete hot sauce was introduced in 1929 by Thad Garner, operator of the Dixie Pig barbecue stand in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Customers asked for a spicier sauce, and the Garners gave them what they asked for!
