Funding Extended to 2016 Government Announces PE and Sport Premium extension The Chancellor’s Autumn Statement included good news for PE and School Sport with a oneyear extension to funding going into primary schools. The PE and Sport Premium was initially a twoyear package running until July 2015. The recent extension means it will now continue until at least July 2016. Although little detail has yet been confirmed, it is expected that the funding will be on the same basis as at present. This would see schools receive an annual payment of £8000 plus £5 per pupil. All eligible schools should already have received the first payment of their funding for 2013 – 2014. If you are unsure, please contact us and we will investigate for you. The Chancellor also announced new funding to assist primary schools to improve the quality of the PE and Sport facilities. £18million of Government funding will be invested in the scheme, which is due to launch in February 2014. We will provide more details as soon as they are available.

Winter Olympics come to Derby Schools enjoy our first ever Winter Sports Festival Our first ever Winter Sports Festival in December gave pupils from four Derby schools a taste of Winter Olympic fever, just weeks before the Sochi 2014 Games open. Pupils and staff tried their hand at curling as well as taking to the ice on the rink in Derby’s Market Place to test their skating legs. Following a very positive response to this first ever Winter Festival, we will look to arrange a similar opportunity next year with more chances for schools to attend. Details will be provided to schools as soon as they are available.
