What drives you? I always wanted to explore different aspects of life and my work allows me to do that. I guess I would say I have an expansive style. There are sub threads running through my work that ties it all together. It allows me to have flexibility to work on many different types of projects.

Which city suits you best?

Dostoyevsky famously claimed beauty would save the world. Do you dis/agree and why? Beauty is accepting truth that leads to openness and freedom. It can save people from outdated structures.

Whose style today would you label as impeccable? Bill Cunningham

New York City will always be my home. I was born in Queens. In spirit, I would say I’m closer to Paris. I would like to live there one day.

What can throw you off course? When I focus too much on the external world. It can be very distracting. How do you cope with challenges of the fashion industry?

How do you navigate the notoriously confrontational relationship between stylists and photographers on the set? There has been a trend of me not agreeing but in the end it comes down to “but will it work in the photograph?” As things progress and I’m working with people who have similar aesthetics there is much less tension.

I just focus on being creative as a photographer and strive to make great pictures. If I focus on the challenges it just makes them more real and more of a problem.

What is the suitable cinematic genre for your life?
