October 4, 2015 12 p.m. Larson Hereford Farm • Spring Valley, WI Registered Hereford Cattle Larson Hereford Farms • Boettcher’s Brookview Acres J&J Polled Herefords • MGM Polled Herefords Wildcat Cattle Company

A Special Invitation to the Genetic Selection X WOW! Twenty years of history for the Genetic Selection Sale. Many things have changed over these past twenty years… the sale’s date and location, contributor families, the cattle business, but most importantly for all of us — the value of registered Hereford cattle. The cow-calf business is the shining star of agriculture right now and the Hereford breed has regained its prominence. Hereford demand has brought excitement back and keeps pushing higher. Many factors have contributed to the resurgence in popularity; a focus on improvement, discipline in culling, perseverance and leadership, to name a few. Another special reason — Wisconsin will be the home of the 2016 Junior National Hereford Expo, to be held at the all new Alliant Energy Center in Madison, July 9th-15th. This is an event that no junior (or adult) should miss; lifelong friendships to be forged, a myriad of contests and competitions and making great family memories. With this event on the horizon, our five families have brought our best, not just for showing, but also for a lifetime of productivity. Take advantage of the opportunities at you door. One last special reason — make it a Northwest Wisconsin Hereford Weekend. You can attend two registered Hereford sales within 24 hours and five miles distance apart — Lamb Brothers’ “Built to Last” on Saturday, Oct. 3rd and immediately afterwards the Genetic Selection offering will be on display. Supper will be served at 5 p.m. and lunch on sale day Sunday at 11 a.m. We look forward to sharing a special weekend with you!

Lots 1-26A Excitement abounds at Larson Hereford Farms. 2015 has been an exciting year for us and we’ve made a big effort to raise the quality “bar” for this year’s sale offering. Obviously with the Junior National in our backyard, we put an emphasis on top heifer calves. We want to stress the maternal depth of these females and their future production capabilities — these heifers look good and bring strong EPDs to the table. The bred heifers offer some diversity in genetics and type. Several are bred to cutting edge industry sires and the bulk are bred to Fireman, a truly impressive and problem — free sire with some very powerful genetics. Finally, the cows. None of our offerings are over five-years-old. Make no mistake, these are cows that we will miss and will be hard to replace. We’ve tried to insure that their families are maintained through sisters or offspring. They truly represent quality and opportunity. If we can do anything to make your visit more pleasant, please contact us. We look forward to your visit.

• Fireman stems from our Bittersweet cow family. His dam is currently in our ET program with our old friends at C&L Herefords. • Fireman’s great — grandam produced our $18,000 heifer that sold in the Mile High Night Sale to Don Moler, Frans Polled Herefords and Tom Biglieni. • Shown only once, FIREMAN was named the 2013 Minnesota State Fair Reserve Grand Champion. • We’ve used him extensively on cows and heifers with great results on 53 recorded progeny. • Great feet and structure, easy moving with good fleshing ability and lots of dimension. • He is the service sire for all the bred heifers in the sale except Lots 6, 8 and 9.

• The first daughter of Regal to be sold here. We cannot say enough about how impressed we are with these calves, both male and female. They have all kinds of dimension, lower birth weights, are smooth made and flat jointed and very quiet. • Splendor has all the attributes of a show heifer; clean fronted and very feminine, nice hip, depth, soundness and a nice attitude. • Her dam is the full sister to the dam of our Paris heifer, the third high selling heifer in the Ladies of the Royal sale a couple years back. • A Regal heifer out of another high producing cow with a lot of history here. Her great — grandam was the first lot in the ring at the historic dispersal of the John E. Rice & Sons herd in Sheridan, Wyoming, and they have never disappointed us. • This pretty gal is extremely feminine and well balanced with a great set of EPDs. • We hate to let many of these first heifers by Regal off the place because we’re very confident they will make impressive females. • OCV.

Lots 37-50 The Merrys welcome you to the Genetic Selection Sale X. For 111 years and five generations Merrys have been Hereford breeders. We sincerely appreciate your support over these years. MGM dams have produced the first or second highest selling bulls at the WHA Sale for 12 of the last 13 years, including 2015. MGM has been Premier Breeder or Premier Exhibitor at the Wisconsin State Fair in three of the last five years. We are offering many sibs of these cattle. Many of the pregnant cows were able to have the sex determined by ultrasound. The vet states he has 90 % accuracy. If the footnotes do not mention the sex of the pregnancy, it was not able to be determined. We are excited to be part of the Genetic Selection Sale and to offer this set of cattle to you! • Our sale offering features these three maternal sisters to Vibrato, our calf who was a division champion at JNHE this summer. The Moler x Enuff line has always clicked and this girl is no exception! This heifer calf will take a back seat to nobody in the style and looks department and yet, like her sister, she has the bone, hip and structure to get it done in the showring. With the 2016 JNHE coming to Madison, you will want to be showing this one. We plan to have updated pictures and videos of all Wildcat lots on wildcatcattle.com in mid-September.

Moderate and square with a great belly. She has cutting edge genetics. Her sire, Full Throttle’s, first calf crop is taking the breed by storm with a great set. • This heifer is straight out of our Sky cow family. They are all long necked and deep ribbed with super milk flow and udders. Her dam is a 10-year-old donor dam for us that has done a great job, as well as having daughters working in four different herds. This cow family has a lot of longevity bred in it, going back to a Dam of Distinction from the great NJW program. Her sire, Justified, has limited semen as he died before his first calf crop. He has done a great job for the Lowdermans and Wiswells. He sired my favorite heifer at the JNHE for the Grimmel family, which went on to be a division champion for them. We think she is a can’t-miss cow. • Due Feb. 1, 2016, to AH JDH Cracker Jack 26U. Ultrasounded heifer calf.

• This beautiful, long-necked heifer is sired by one of the most influential sires in the breed, the now deceased About Time. Her dam, Gold Star, has done a tremendous job for us, excelling as a show heifer and now a donor dam. The dam flushes exceptionally well and twice has given us over 20 transferrable embryos. She has two daughters that are now donors in Colorado for the Mrozinski’s and in Wisconsin for Otter Creek Polled Herefords. Ask Chuck Badertscher about his Gold Star daughter. • Due March 16, 2016, to AH JDH Cracker Jack 26U ET.

Lots 58-73 The Boettcher Family welcomes you to Genetic Selection X and our offering of powerful heifer calves and productive young females from the cow families that have built and sustained our breeding program. Brookview Acres has been breeding structurally correct, functionally sound and high production Herefords with balanced EPDs for nearly 50 years. Our program emphasizes cattle that have the ability to generate profits in a wide variety of production systems and environments. We select proven AI sires and natural service pasture sires that we feel best complement our cow families. Foundation herd sires, Vaquero and Missle, will appear in many Brookview Family pedigrees because they left the sons and daughters we critically selected for. More recently we have infused the influence of NJW Durango 64U, TH Mr Hereford 11X, TH Victor 719T, Brookview Wisconsin 40W, WLB Lego 90X, Churchill Red Bull 200Z and NJW Hometown 10Y. Our breeding goals are substantiated through performance measurements of birth, weaning and yearling weights as well as calculated feedlot gains and strict reproductive evaluation. We are humbled by the success stories of how our cattle have performed for our customers and the number of repeat buyers that visit our farm and sales each year. Please visit www.brookviewacres.com to view videos of our sale animals.

• We chose two fancy Churchill Red Bull daughters to headline our offering of Junior National show prospects. This deep ribbed, extended heifer is from a cow family proven to grow and show. Her dam was successfully shown as a yearling by the Jones family as part of their Wildcat show string. From the showring to the pasture 47X continued her work ethic by being named a Dam of Distinction after recording a 112% weaning ratio on her first three calves. Show heifer and future brood cow all in one package here.

• This long bodied, feminine heifer is another example of a show heifer prospect with balanced EPDs that are in demand by serious Hereford breeders. It is hard to sell another heifer from this Dam of Distinction, but we always select our best for Genetic Selection. The Churchill Red Bull heifers will be popular this fall, but how often do you have the opportunity to choose from a pair out of Dams of Distinction? Take a close look on sale day.

• We are proud to lead off the Brookview cow offering with a powerful, broody Missle daughter that personifies the ideal Hereford cow we believe can headline nearly every breeding program. From our Anxiety cow family, 06U has proven herself in the showring and by bringing a top calf to the scale every year. She attracted lots of friends being named Reserve Champion Hereford Female at a very competitive Badger Kickoff Classic in 2008. She grew into all of her expectations with an ideal udder, deep chest and moving on a big foot with a correct leg set. Take note of the Lego heifer calf at her side and you will understand why we chose to breed her back the same way. • Bred AI May 7, 2015, to WLB Lego 83T 90X, then pasture exposed May 13 to Aug. 8, 2015, to Brookview 100W Bellagio 44B. • This deep, dark red Hometown son has been a favorite of ours since he has born. We named him Cartwright because of his distinctive western range bull phenotype, but he has become known as “Hoss.” We have enjoyed his good-natured, laid back attitude as he continues to grow and pack on muscle. We plan to take him out to one show before the sale as we feel he represents the kind of herd sire prospect that will fit our customers’ criteria of wanting bulls that are safe to use on heifers and still have enough frame to breed cows. His dam is a highly productive young Missle daughter that is a full sister to the heifer selected by Ned and Jan Ward several years ago at our sale. She sports a 105 weaning ratio on her first two calves and will likely make Dam of Distinction after weaning Hoss. Act. BW 83 lb. • Selling ¾ interest and full possession.

• Charity is a very extended, feminine Hometown daughter from one of our most productive Missle cows. Her dam, 70U, is out of a Postive Plus cow we purchased at the first NJW production sale. The Hometown calves out of Missle daughters are probably our best performance calves this year and this heifer is no exception. When she develops the same body and rib as her mother, she will be a powerhouse to be reckoned with next summer. One has to appreciate the balance of growth, milk and carcass traits in her EPD package.

Lot 67 — Brookview 11X ZOA Cass 14Z

• Not many of these Mr Hereford females to be had. She is a full sister to our top selling heifer from this sale two years ago that showed well for the Renn Family. Not one that we part with easily, but we still have another sister to keep the family going. Dark red, long bodied and sporting a neat udder with small teats make this a cow with a long future. Like the rest of the Cassie cow family, she will likely produce her share of show competitors. Her steer calf at side is just a sample of her potential. • Pasture exposed May 26 to July 3, 2015, to Brookview 3027 Bear 02B. Observed bred on May 30, 2015. • Offered with Dr. Tom and Sue Beckett

• This Wisconsin 3-year-old is as prettily packaged as you will find. She has a great profile and is passing that style on to her offspring. The Wisconsin daughters are doing very well for us and for others who have purchased them. Her Missle grandmother continues to be a centerpiece of our breeding program and gives us a heifer calf nearly every year. That enables us to offer this young cow, her 2015 heifer calf and her 2014 heifer as Lot 69. • Bred AI April 25, 2015, to NJW 73S M326 Trust 100W ET, then pasture exposed May 13 to Aug. 8, 2015, to Brookview 100W Bellagio 44B. • Ouch! It hurts to sell a smoking hot 2-year-old sired by a Missle son and out of the Durango daughter that we purchased at Ned and Jan Ward’s last production sale, but we have to put young cows with heifer calves in this sale. We reached very deep into our herd to offer this pair. Carefully evaluate her udder, teats, depth of body, long spine and the thick heifer calf at side, then mark her on the sale sheet and get ready to bid on this young blue chip cow. • Bred AI April 30, 2015, to K&B Sentinel 0042X (owned by ABS, Sandhill Farms and Loewen Herefords), then pasture exposed May 19 to July 3, 2015, to Brookview 3027 Bear 2B. The 77U daughters are making their mark as cows in our herd as easy fleshing, great uddered cows with our first Lambeau daughter following suit.
