This Chapter I want to discuss how the human society established in a Montage language. The upside-down sun in the beginning is a metaphor symbol to represented the authority of nature power is fall down to the earth, where the human beings can use and handle it to create their own society, it starts from a tiny spark (the only cloud in the sky) but spread rapidly via hundred brunches of railway that diverge nature energy to a specific direction, from iconic buildings stand up to the immense territory(nephogram) while the nature landscape is replaced.


Concept

The Tree of Life (Kabbalah), or Etz haChayim (‫ )םייחה ץע‬in Hebrew, is a classic descriptive term for the central mystical symbol used in the Kabbalah of esoteric Judaism, also known as the 10 Sephirot. The symbolic configuration of 10 spiritual principles, arranged in 3 columns/pillars, describes the manner in which God creates existence ex nihilo, the nature of revealed divinity, the human soul, and the spiritual path of ascent by man. In this way, Kabbalists developed the symbol into a full model of reality, using the tree to depict a map of Creation.


Concept In this video, I try to reproduce the Tree of Life under the development of human society. Human from the top creates existence ex nihilo, as bring life to earth, mechanical flora and fauna was born, developed into a bustling city. Set London as a stage, with the railway metaphor columns, with 10 different attributes architecture metaphor 10 Sephirot. Reveal omnipotence human to play as God to dominate everything in present era,.

Mirage

The idea concept for Roca London Gallery designed by Zaha Hadid begin with water in its many forms and phase as both an idea to make space and to express our adaptability and openness to change and innovation. Water act as the transformation element moving across the facade, carving out the interior and moving through the main gallery as individual drop. My goal is to represent the feeling of motive and the complex free-form shape in a personal and architectural language.

Perhaps Zaha Hadid just want people get lost in this gallery. Ceilings, walls and floors used by high reflective materials, and extending floor became into wall, as well as windows for the vague definition of spatial separation, make people feel the general sense of the architectural language are ineffective. The theme of project is based on image, so I want to capture all the strange scenes in this gallery then compressed into one picture.

Ceiling and the floor’s reflection let people cannot tell top and bottom, only the walls in which reference to differentiate yourself. Perhaps the best way to record these flowers is to put them in frames, these images solidified into a poem.

Just imaging the urban as a huge circuit board, what would you see? Buildings become video cards and sound cards, tube lines become circuit board traces, the only movable thing, electron, are cars and trains. So how can make the urban running faster and in efficiency? Hierarchy might be the choice. Archigram republished the Walking City in 1964, and I want to go further- Walking Urban.

Underground and train are two main means of long distance transportation in city scale. They can highly improve transport efficiency and reduce transport time. Can the railway spread to all corridors then people can get rid of slow walking to saving tons of time?

I try to make a underground’s corridor become the tube’s railway. Then people don’t need to spent 5-10 minutes to walking from one platform to the next platform, the corridor’s train will take you to the right place quicker then foot.

Following with my previously project-Walking Urban, I was researching the invisible energy circulation in a typical site, Tilbury. My proposal is to divide transportation into different hierarchy and develop the charter title - Urban Cloud.


Concept This film actualized the theory from last project. Set the stage into a real city scale. Explore the possibility of using the upper space in the air.

“A Road to Nowhere� raises questions about limits and thresholds that we have encountered while photographing, recording and scanning at Kielder. Team work with Iulia Fratila and Ben Hayes. Making use of the information we have gathered from the different parts of the site we fabricated a new landscape, which tells the story of our own, subjective journey. In this new reality we find old roads which have been swallowed by the man-made lake, landmark trees merging with the mathematical grid of the plantation and the banks of Kielder Water repositioned. On the acoustic level we have used actual recordings of our wanders; in this way we unveil the thresholds between different materials, rhythm, atmosphere and personal perception

Death seems close at hand but a maelstrom bring him to a strange unknown city, everything looks familiar but weird, he quickly realize this is a huge labyrinth to trap him inside. Can he escape from it, what is the reason that strange city existed?

The protagonist is a ordinary man doing ordinary jobs in the city. One day on the platform of paddington train station, he was fall to the railway and hit by the train due to distracted by answering a phone call.

At that moment, he was falling into a maelstrom that can not control and lost consciousness.

When he woke up, he saw an underground city that he never hear or even imaging about.

He tried to exploring the unknown city and found some peoples who seem like lost themselves, walking and dancing with unconsciousness. In one room, he even seem a monitor wall, each monitor showing one kind of himself trap at somewhere that he didn’t recognize.

He was very afraid and trying to escape, but no matter how far he run, the city just like a huge labyrinth changing its form to keep trapping he inside. He suddenly realized the scene is the one he saw in the monitor room. He gave up and depressed.

He couldn’t remember how many years pass by, but long enough to think back his whole life. He was awaken the past of his life is no different to this labyrinth, just trapped in different buildings. Then, a slit appeared on the sky, the city were crashed. When he have consciousness again, he was standing on the platform again, he saw the phone is ringing, but he ignore it, he known something is different in this time.


Concept

The title of the project is Permanently Temporary Platform. Using current scientific and technological knowledge, I plan to turn a diamond mine, which unexpected discover by London underground extension nearby south west suburb of London, into “Multifunctional Platform”, an actuating chamber that will drive constructions on the surface moving and steering to change the spatial function. I propose to cover the pit with a flat metal plate leaving loopholes, to allow metal columns get through to attach the bottom of constructions on the surface. According to my proposal, space inside the pit will be divided into two levels, with a huge central core. The upper level will be a so-called “manipulator farm”, for control the position of constructions on the surface. The lower level will be a storage to hold containers, each container have a full set equipments, furnitures and facilities of rooms. The central core will be the engine room to provide the impetus, and administrative rooms. By utilising the different usage in time, the platform will be transfer into different functional buildings, as turned into office during the day, become restaurants and parks in midday, turned into shopping mall in the evening, become theatre in weekend, become concerts and stadium in the festivals. The quickly assemble is base on a replaceable logistics system that lift up the specific container from the storage level to the surface then to replace the rooms that not needed. This solution permits the maximize spacial usage of this region without constructing similar building, as their functions would be partly duplicated. The overall usage efficiency of the project makes it cost effective.

Residential migration in 2016 The discovery of diamond vein was shock whole country, and the government was decided to use this opportunity to transform and regenerate one of the most deprived and underdeveloped areas of the UK.

Plans and designs focused on delivering long-term improvements to the people and communities living in this area. Long after the mine exhausted, its ‘legacy’ – new economic area, homes, roads, railways, sustainable energy systems and sports facilities – will transform this area of London for the better. Rubbish bins and derelict buildings litter the site

In a London underground expansion project, 2015, an engineer found a huge diamond vein by accident in south-west suburb of London, the amount of what it reserved can compete with the world’s largest Mir Mine in Yakutia, Russia. Due to the huge profit-driven, Government offer a considerable resettlement fee to the local resident then sign a contract to London mining company ltd to fully in charge of the site. After held several hearings of the project, the excavating was start immediately in the second year, tons of worker swarm into this place, residential building, business building, and roads, railways were under construction as well as makes this area instantly influx of tens of thousands of migrants. It became a booming industrial district, although it wasn’t pretty, fine, but it worked well. GDP also increased by 10%.

The London Mining Company (LMC) is in charge of making sure that all the mine, parks, accommodation, transport, energy, waste and water networks and infrastructure are in place – both for the Mine and for the future. After the plans were agreed, civil engineers working for the LMC began preparing the land for construction, demolishing old structures and cleaning the contaminated soil, diverting the many waterways that cross the Mine, burying the overhead power lines and ensuring that any wildlife and plant species are protected. At the same time civil engineers, working as part of a multi disciplinary team, got to work designing and building excavating facilities, roads, bridges, waterways and electricity systems. Many of the roads and bridges have been cleverly designed so that they can be quickly and efficiently removed – partially or entirely – once they are not needed after the Mining.

Legacy beyond 2034 Arriving in 2034, diamond mine is approaching exhaustion after producing 50 million carats in the last decade. In order to facilitate the transport of minerals, advanced highway and railway were surrounding the mine, as well as using new technologies in reducing noise and dealing with waste and dust, the surrounding area of mine does not have serious pollution issues. In a few years the little town was developed into the third most important financial centre in London - so-called eastern canary wharf. So how to deal with the nearly abandoned mine and how to accommodate these workers who living with mine have become the two biggest problems in this region. Due to the exorbitant land prices and crowded spacial environment, simply buried the mine then covered with new buildings on the surface is not an optimal choice, but if we can use the void, then many interesting things will happen. My proposal is to transform the mine into a multi-functional platform - not an ordinary sense multi-function hall, but by changing the walls and facilities’ position to change the architectural features, I call the permanently temporary platform. In this term, the building above the permanently temporary platform will changing its form, it will disassemble and reassemble by specially needed of the region. The disassemble part of facilities will store inside the mine, the needed facilities will rise up by manipulator. Maximise spacial reusability in the limited land space.

After the mine exhausted in 2034, people living in south west London will benefit from the facilities and infrastructure put in place. From economic and community facilities, including health centres and schools to the new roads, waterways and energy systems. What is going next for the mine is an social concern issue.

UK’s lucrative diamond industry was fuelled in large part by the colossal mine at Richmond, above, in London, which produced immense profits for the country. The pit shut down 20 years ago due to dwindling yields and safety issues. The London diamond company later began mining underground, but this is far more expensive and came during the financial meltdown. The government hope the mine reuse project will bring a much-needed revival to the industry.


Concept This film is part of a wider exploration into how the building’s character could be reserved and transferred through a gradually dismantling of architecture that can be seen daily and familiar with. A series of experiments were carried out exploring how the designer might be able to control certain parameters of transforming systems using simulation and testing, which is based on a surrealistic research into disassembling material and technology that may one day become the solution of overcrowding mega-city in the future. The film doesn’t shows up the processing directly but try to rise some simple questions about the city evolution that people may ignore in the daily life, side reflects on how this change will effect to us.
