Her successful career as a model on the catwalks of fashion capitals like New York and Milan gave her a good start. At the age of fourteen she was lucky enough to be spotted by a model scout in her home city of Hamburg. Today she still walks the runways for international labels, models for glossy magazines and appears in front of the camera for her own lingerie collection, Marie Amière by HSE24. In her show she presents young women with new possibilities for the future. At the end of last year we saw Marie Amière in the best of company in Mallorca - with fashion designer Thomas Rath, who was celebrating his birthday in Puerto Andratx to which he had also invited TV presenter Kena Amoa and his sister, the singer Sua Amoa.

Marie Amière, do you have any new projects in view? Where shall we see you from March 2016 onwards? In March 2016 you will see me in Mallorca again, for Easter! Professionally, at HSE24 of course, with my lingerie collection. I shall be doing another catalogue shoot in South Africa for my longest standing client, OTTO. That is always heaps of fun. I am also looking forward to presenting some events for Airfield and Douglas, for example. And then there is always my charity work for ‘DKMS life’ and ‘Stiftung-Kinderjahre’. You have presented a show for ‘taff’ on ProSieben aimed at helping young women in difficult circumstances to find the right job. Is this kind of coaching useful? My programme ‘The opportunity of a lifetime!’ is all about life coaching. I helped three young women and one young man in difficult family situations to gain a foothold in their dream profession. Four talented young people who deserve a helping hand. This type of coaching goes all the way from makeovers to careers advice, a course on etiquette and motivational talks, through to trial periods at work. Ultimately they all got training places. I am still in touch with my protégés today. What do you think of shows like ‘How Do I Look?’ and ‘Mission Makeover’ on SIXX? Wouldn’t programmes like this that deal with fashion be attractive for the German market too? ‘Clothes make the man’ of course. But they are not enough on their own. When they are put together with good conduct, ambition and attitude to life, then you have a great starting point for young people to achieve something with their lives. How do you keep yourself fit for a life in front of the camera?

I am lucky enough to have a personal trainer in the family. My brother Samuel trains regularly with me and he has created a home workout plan for me. So I can keep myself fit anywhere in the world. Apart from that I eat healthily

styling in the world can beat an enchanting smile and a positive attitude. Do you have any fashion or make-up dos and don’ts? Personally I’m old-fashioned enough to believe that it is still important to dress appropriately for an occasion. Which is why I am sometimes amazed to see colleagues at a premier event on the red carpet in casual daywear. Are there goals in your working and private life that you still wish to achieve? Yes, lots. But there isn’t time for that today … You grew up in Hamburg. What do you love about the Hanseatic city, and what are your must-sees for visitors? I love Hamburg. For me the city is literally the gateway to the world. The port is beautiful. Clouds restaurant on the 23rd floor has stunning views of the city from its panoramic windows and beautiful rooftop terrace. Hamburg is also a musical city – something I already loved as a child. And then there is the diversity of its different districts. Harvestehude, with all its Art Nouveau buildings is stunning and right on the banks of the Alster. Schanzenviertel is young and trendy. And as a contrast there are the Hanseatic suburbs on the banks of the river Elbe. The terrace of Hotel Jacob is an absolute must in the summer. It gives you a magnificent view of the Elbe. You travel a lot with your work, what would be your perfect holiday? Where are you drawn to during your time off? The perfect holiday for me is sun, sand and sea! A lovely hotel, good restaurants, exciting nightlife, interesting people, beautiful beaches and a spa. Mallorca!

most of the time. But my secret weapons are my alkaline baths and my seaweed mud wraps. I use them once or twice a week. They purify and tone the skin. As a model, what styling tips do you take with you from the catwalk into everyday life? Through my work as a model, I am naturally always very close to current fashion trends. I have loved fashion and beauty ever since I was a little girl. Despite this, I believe that you do not have to follow every trend. The most important styling tip I have learnt over the years is, “Be yourself!” Moreover no amount of

You were in Mallorca for New Year’s Eve, what did you like about it? Do you have any recommendations for hotels or restaurants? I am absolutely blown away by Portixol! Hotel Portixol is magnificent and its terrace is a really wonderful place to sit. Sonja Kirchberger’s restaurant Can Punta is absolutely great! I also like the restaurant That’s Amore in Puerto Andratx – is serves only healthy cuisine that is also absolutely delicious. And I feel really at home at the Harbour Grill in Port Adriano. Its chocolate fondant is a joy to eat! Marie Amière, thank you for talking to us. interview Birgit Unger tranSlation Celia Moody PhotoS Silvio Kühn
