Academic Programs At Delta State University, the courses you take are organized under three colleges and one school:
Arts and Sciences Business Education Nursing While working toward your degree, you will have the opportunity to study in one or more areas, depending on the major you choose and the concentration within that major. You may also select a minor area of study, which is a group of courses outside your major field that you can explore in depth. You will also have many opportunities to travel as part of your studies at Delta State. Travel-study programs range from just a few days, to several weeks, or an entire semester.
Unique Degrees If you are looking for something a little different from traditional degree programs, Delta State offers a few distinctive programs. Commercial Aviation Delta State University is the only school in Mississippi that offers a Bachelors of Commercial Aviation. Come fly high with DSU as you major in Flight Operations or Aviation Management. Take off from DSU’s very own airport in one of over 20 airplanes, and get a whole new perspective of the Delta. Music Industry Studies Interested in song writing, recording or music production? The Delta Music Institute boasts three full recording studios and our very own record label—Fighting Okra Records. Come work with Grammy award winning song writer, Tricia Walker, as you learn the ins and outs of the music industry. Geospatial Information Technologies Our GIT program has made national headlines for its groundbreaking work in what can be described as mapmaking for the 21st Century. The GIT Center has created maps for the FBI, the Secret Service and emergency response maps for disasters throughout the world. Outdoor Recreation Leadership If you’re looking for a career that won’t make you sit in an office every day, DSU has the only Outdoor Recreation Leadership program in the state of Mississippi. With classes like White Water Rafting, Mountain Biking and even Skydiving, you will learn wilderness skills and gain confidence in leadership situations.
