Versatile Acadia offers many amenities By Faye Burg Meyer Motors of Plymouth is well known throughout the area and beyond for happy and satisfied customers who continue to return to the dealership year after year for all of their vehicle needs. Priding themselves on meeting and exceeding customer expectations, the staff at Meyer Motors enjoys assisting customers and making them feel at home. This level of customer service and satisfaction has formed lifelong relationships with customers who say they wouldn’t dream of purchasing or servicing a vehicle anywhere else. Leif and Pat Gigstad of Sheboygan Falls have been satisfied customers of Meyer Motors since the mid-1980s. Their most recent purchase, a 2017 GMC Acadia SLT-2, purchased in September of this year, is one in a line of 12 vehicles they have purchased from Meyer Motors. “They treat you right,” Leif said. “They are respectful of your needs and wants. There is a family atmosphere around here.” Getting treated right Leif said he isn’t fond of strong sales tactics and is grateful for the relaxed and inviting staff at Meyer Motors. “I don’t like to be harassed,” he explained. “If somebody treats me right, I come back.” “We buy from people we like,” Leif added. The Gigstads say they chose the Acadia, with its Iridium metallic exterior and jet-black interior, for it’s smooth operation and option preferences. “It’s quiet,” Leif said. “It’s a pleasure to drive and there is plenty of get up and go.” The Acadia’s standard advanced allwheel drive with twin-clutch improves driver control by directing torque to the wheel with best traction in poor road conditions. The Acadia’s 2.5L 4-cylinder directinjection engine (standard on SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1) features Start/Stop Technology, which shuts down the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop for remarkable efficiency and starts up again without hesitation when you release the brake. All Terrain features an available drive mode selector, which lets the driver switch between different driving modes for various road conditions. All-wheel drive, all-terrain, sport, and trailer/tow options are available. Different driving modes The Acadia’s Drive Mode Selector (Traction Select) allows the driver to choose between different modes based on their current driving conditions. Modes include touring, AWD, sport, off-road, and tow/haul. Both Leif and Pat enjoy the handling and maneuverability. “It’s very responsive,” Pat said. “It’s like floating.” Pat also enjoys the size of the vehicle. “I like that it’s not quite as big.” The Acadia’s all terrain available 3.6L V6 engine with active fuel management and GM estimated 310 horsepower provides plenty of power and versatility. The 3.6L 6-cylinder direct-injection engine with Active Fuel Management and 310 horsepower provides plenty of power and versatility (available on SLE-2 and SLT-1, and standard on SLT-2 and Denali). The Acadia’s versatility makes it an SUV favorite while offering six or seven passenger seating (five passenger seating on All Terrain package), an available hands-free, power programmable liftgate and standard innovative Smart Slide seats.

Pat truly enjoys the programmable lift gate option. “You can bring it up partially and set the hatchback opening,” Leif explained, adding he likes the look of the vehicle’s wheels as well. The Active Tow System makes hitching easier by employing an advanced rear-vision camera with dynamic guidelines to help you line up the Acadia’s hitch (This feature is available on more than the All Terrain.) with the trailer, as well as provide you with views of the trailer while driving. Seeing and being seen Attractive headlamps, tail lamps, and fog lamps on the Acadia assures you can see and be seen. The projector beam headlamps have LED daytime running lamps. The Halogen fog lamps with projector technology help reduce glare and improve visibility in foggy conditions. Completely loaded with computer options, Pat enjoys all of the amenities offered while Leif is especially fond of the navigation system and lane changing alert system. Advanced active safety features provide confidence for drivers and passengers. The comprehensive and continuous safety features are designed to prevent, protect, and respond when the unexpected situation happens on the road. The Acadia Denali is GMC’s first vehicle to offer an available Surround Vision Camera system. This feature has four cameras around the vehicle to display what is around Acadia to make parking, backing-up and slow speed maneuvering much easier. Innovations like the available seven or eight-inch diagonal color touch radio with IntelliLink and touch display make driving an Acadia an inspired experience. Amenities include keyless open and start, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, up to five USB ports, available navigation, Bose premium sound system, and 4G Wi Fi hot spot. Entertainment system IntelliLink keeps entertainment simple with its cutting edge voice-recognition and touch screen technology that allow you to listen to your favorite music, initiate phone calls from your smartphone or USB-enabled device hassle free. Acadia’s interior is filled with premium materials including real aluminum trim on all models, a soft wrapped instrument panel, console and doors along with authentic stitching. Denali and all terrain models give customers the choice of the
ultimate in luxury or sportiness. Denali trim includes premium perforated leather seats for that ultimate luxury feeling. Leif and Pat worked with Sales consultant Matthew Horstman when purchasing their latest Meyer Motors vehicle. “The Gigstad’s were really nice people,” Matt said. “They were excited about the new Acadia and ordered one to their exact specifications; the 2017 offers many configurations to allow customers to have the set up that best suits their needs.” “The 2017 Acadia is redesigned and offers better mpg and handling; the allwheel drive option is selectable. This feature, allowing the driver to choose between the better mpg of front wheel drive or the ruggedness of the all wheel drive, gives the owner of an Acadia the best of both worlds,” he added.
The Gigstads also own and enjoy their 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 also purchased from Meyer Motors. “I love that truck,” Leif said. “It is so stable on the road and has a full size cab. I just love it.” Meyer Motors Service Department is another favorite of the Gigstads. “They are always very accommodating and they go out of their way, going above and beyond to make it right,” Leif said. “I always get a sense that they are interested in an economical way of handling repairs.” Meyer Motors is located at 107 Plaza Lane in Plymouth and look forward to assisting customers. They can be reached at (920) 893-1851. For more information on the Acadia or other fine vehicles, please their website at gomeyermotors. com.
