Our portfolio includes collections of upholstery and decorative fabrics, trimmings and upholstery accessories. We offer a wide range of fabrics in various styles, including those with specialist technical parameters. Our goal is to create a versatile offer, meeting the requirements of any design project - irrespective of its style, scale, function, and technical and operational specifications. Whether it is a piece of furniture or a comprehensive arrangement of a private or public interior, a hotel or a concert hall, we wish to provide designers and manufacturers with a free, inspiring choice and professional service.

History

Dekoma’s history stems from the history of the Wielkopolska furniture cluster, one of the most renowned furniture hubs in Poland. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the areas of Swarzędz and Poznań have been widely known for their artisanal workshops and, later on, furniture manufacturing plants.

Following the collapse of communism in the 1990s, the economictransformation enabled the private sector to flourish. In 1993, Maciej Kuchareczko, the subsequent owner of Dekoma, began trading in fabrics in Swarzędz under the brand name Inter Tech. A few years later, the company’s name was changed to Dekoma. The final decade of the 20th century, witnessed the emergence of many new, private Polish furniture manufacturers, who are leaders in the Polish market today.

Talking about Dekoma’s history and development, it is crucial to mention the influence of Poznań, a trade fair centre which for decades has been attracting furniture manufacturers and suppliers of furniture materials and components. Contacts established during industry trade fairs helped us achieve dynamic growth and within a dozen years become a leader in the sector of quality upholstery and decorative fabrics.

Support for arts and culture

We actively cooperate with artistic and cultural institutions, artists and designers, sponsoring fabrics and sharing our knowledge and experience. Together, we create artistic installations, organise exhibitions and support ndividual projects. We strive to present fabrics in an unusual way, underlining the versatility of their application and the impact they can have on interiors and public spaces.

We support cultural events in Poland and abroad. To date, we have collaborated with among others Malta Festival in Poznań, Vogue Poland, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art or Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival.

Support for education

We actively support educational activities allowing young designers and technologists to gain knowledge about fabrics. Our regular partners are art schools and universities, such as the School of Form or Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań,

and vocational schools, such as the renowned Wood Technology and Forestry School Complex in Garbatka-Letnisko. Our support consists in organising workshops and lectures, as well as providing free-of-charge advice and materials for students’ diploma projects.

Sustainability

We regularly expand our portfolio to include products least harmful to the environment. We offer fabrics manufactured from recycled woollen clothes and cotton waste generated by the textile industry,

fabrics produced with low water- and chemicalconsumption technologies (e.g. without dyeing) and fabrics made from natural fibres, such as flax, hemp or organic cotton. As for synthetic fibres, such as polyester and polypropylene, our preferred choice are those obtained from recycling.

A significant number of producers we work with are European companies, which translates into a reduced carbon footprint for our products.

Sustainability

We analyse all aspects of our company’s operations, such as building maintenance, transportation, packing process and office work, to mitigate their impact on the environment.

Part of our energy demand is supplied by solar panels. Our headquarters are surrounded by a 900 m2 perennial garden and flower meadows. These are home to melliferous plants and fruit trees, which are beneficial for bees from a nearby apiary and other pollinators. We water them from our own retention tank. Our company uses solely recycled paper. We use recycled polyester bags to pack fabric bolts sent to our clients.
