I try to find a balance between pose and 'naturel'.
The self portrait: For me is an inner purge, a reflection, a complete transparency and acknowledgment of existence. It is how we interpret ourselves and reinterpret ourselves.

The realization of the right relationship between the person in front of you and his relationship with what surrounds him. If you don't want this, you can make a passport photo

Portraits can be incredibly intimate and honest but still reveal nothing about the person. You're seeing a fraction of their personality during a specific mood. Â

WHO ARE YOU? My name is Silvia Bocuma. WHERE DO YOU COME FROM? WHERE ARE YOU NOW? WHERE ARE YOU GOING? I was born in Madrid (Spain) thrity years ago and so far I'm still happy with all the energy this city and its people give me. I'm enjoy very much living in present time. It's difficult for me to imagine where I'll be in the future. WHICH CAMERAS YOU SHOOT WITH? I have a few different cameras to take pictures, all of them are analogic but one, a digital Lumix. If there is a really special one for me and which I know how to use the best is a Canon AV1. It's was my firts reflex camera, it made me fall in love with photography. WHAT IS BEHIND YOUR IMAGES? It's my way of sharing a particular moment I lived with someone and a way of returning to it whenever I want. WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU DO IF YOU COULDN’T TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS? My real passion is electonic music. DO YOU SEE THE PICTURE BEFORE OR AFTER LOOKING THROUGH THE LENS?
Almost always, before. WHY PHOTOGRAPHY? I have fun with it ! I love it ! Since I was a little girl I was surrounded by pictures and cameras. I've seen my parentes playing with lenses and capturing our own lives. It's just great to know that in a way you've kept a part of a moment you have lived. HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR IMAGES
I try to capture people's essence in a given space and moment. It's what really inspires me, what makes my shutter realese go on. SOMETHING YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID TO SOMEONE BUT YOU NEVER DID?
If there's something i didn't say to somebody, it was because there was a reason no to do it. WHAT COLOR ARE YOU? At this particular moment, red. A SONG, A MOVIE, A BOOK: AN IMAGE THAT MOVES OR INSPIRES YOU? Music: Anything from the Boards of Canada. Movie: Delicatessen. Book: Now I'm reading, a book about oriental philosophy that I´m enjoying a lot. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN DEFEATED? WHAT HAPPENED? Spiritually, only once.probably.

What often happens to the subjects of my photographs is that they don’t recognize themselves later in my photos, so I’m forced to ask myself some questions: Is it because it's so easy to forget that what others see and love in us is not the same as what we see and love on ourselves? Are my portraits saying more about me, then about those on the pictures? Do I use their body positions and their expressions to speak about my own absence, departures, longings and dreams? Where is the source of that atmosphere that prevails at many of my photos, the atmosphere of nostalgia for the irretrievably lost or the atmosphere filled with fear from the uncertainty of future?

I live in reality. But it is not always meet reality. I saw anyone, even when I take a picture, I saw wanted to see the look or otherwise. In reality, people are watching, it is not at all objective. Remember, sometimes combined with unpleasant things which eject, Sometimes you may be combined with imagination.
