OTHER MARKETS From North Continent very little new and we doubt much fresh will develop this week especially for loading from the UK view holidays. From the Continent we did see a little more fertiliser business developing with BPC open for 30000 MOP loading Klaipeda to Rio Grande and Antonina for 8/11 June dates and the same Charterer still quotes 25000 MOP from St Petersburg to India for early June. Nothing really fresh on the scrap side we saw NBC took the “APUANA D” (31962 dwt/’98) open Flushing 31 May/2 June for a scrap run to the east Med at $20000 daily, the rate looks pretty good under the present circumstances. In the Med/Black Sea area we saw that Oldendorff have an additional order for a 42/65000 tonner delivery Med prompt/on for a trip PG. We saw Clipper Steel Services open today for a 28/58000 dwt Delivery Monfalcone 6/10 June for a trip Tampa-Veracruz. In the Black Sea yesterday we saw a new Dreyfus grain order with the Charterer open for 40/50000 barley loading Novorossisk or Ilichevsk to Jeddah for spot/5 June cancelling. Today ACTI/Toepfer have 45000 10% HSS loading Black Sea to Antwerp-Hamburg range for 7/12 June. On fresh voyage business from the area we see ADM International have 25000 10% BHF stowing 38’ loading Pasadena to Santos-Rio Grande for 3/17 June dates. On timecharter Dreyfus have a requirement for a Handymax-Supramax delivery US Gulf 7/17 June trip with scrap to east Med. For similar size Bunge are there delivery US Gulf 8/15 June trip Nigeria option 2/3 laden legs. MUR also have an order for a 45/65000 tonner delivery US Gulf 10/20 June trip Med. Pacific Basin seem active from this area and still look for Handysize tonnage for a trip from the Mississippi to St Lawrence. They also have orders for a 28/37000 dwt delivery Texas Gulf 12/17 June trip Gib-Benin range and another for a 48/61000 dwt delivery Atlantic Colombia 10/17 June trip WCSA. Also Clipper Bulk are there for a 24/37000 dwt delivery Texas Gulf 15/21 June trip Brazil. On the fixing side we heard the “JAN S” (29000 dwt/’10) fixed to ABT delivery Dominican Republic for a trip via NCSA redelivery Morocco at a decent $15000 daily. This apart few fresh fixtures reported though the “HERMAN S” a 57000 tonner spot EC Mexico was said to have gone on subs. In the South Atlantic on the bulk sugar side Sucden fixed a bulk cargo from south Brazil to the Black Sea or Baltic, but details were not disclosed. The charterer had been quoting and end May/early June 27/40000 cargo. Man still push their orders from Santos or Paranagua to China and Tunisia but most other sugar orders seem destined for timecharter trip basis. For example as we reported earlier this week Copa Shipping took the “C JOURNEY” (73095 dwt/’95) which sailed Mundra about 9 May for a trip via EC South America to the Persian Gulf with bulk sugar at $13500 daily plus $600000 BB basis passing or more likely retroactive the Cape of Good Hope. Timecharter business from this area included Dreyfus open for a Supra delivery South Brazil 10/20 June for a trip with bulk sugar redelivery Singapore-Japan. Also Bunge had a new one yesterday for a Handy/Handymax delivery Plate 10/20 June trip Dakar and they also quoted an orde3r for a 26/33000 tonner delivery Recalada 15/30 June trip with agriprods redelivery Continent/Baltic. Clipper also looked for a 29/38000 dwt delivery Itagui 8/20 June trip with pig iron redelivery US Gulf. Otherwise Fednav have an alumina stem to Norway and also WBC and Pacific Basin all have orders available but with ballasting tonnage heading towards ECSA rates at best remain just steady. Fresh grain quotes in the area include Raymore open for 35000 10% harmless agriproducts from Itacoatiara Brazil to Santa Marta or Cartagena but for 5/25 July dates so not helping early tonnage

too much. Meantime the “CS SALINA” (32355 dwt/’04) went to Olam for a 1/10June 30000 10% HSS stem from Upriver to Durban at $35.00 with 8000 shex/6000 shinc. +++++++++++++++++++++++ Disclaimer : We hope the above information is useful as guidance and we welcome any suggestions/requests.
