CAD

The above image shows a render of a motorised protein shake bottle that I designed. It also contains a rotary calculator telling the user how much protein they should be consuming in relation to their weight. I modelled it using Solidworks then made some adjustments in Rhino. I then rendered it using Vray in 3DS Max.

1 The above image shows a collection of SLS 3D printed (sintered nylon) models. The numbered models show the ones I created from scratch using Rhino. The rest of them I fixed and prepared for SLS (selective laser sintering) using ‘Magics’.

Rapid Prototyping / 3D Printing

The above image shows a 3D printed (SLS) flexible pyramid I modelled from scratch using Rhino. Each triangular segment is connected by a spring component. This came out in one part and therefore did not require any assembly after being removed from the machine.

Rapid Prototyping / 3D Printing

The above image shows a photo of a pen holder attachment I designed, modelled in Rhino and then 3D printed (SLS). The attachment was then attached to a Kuka industrial robot that I programmed using Rhino & Grasshopper for different processes mainly milling out of foam. I also programmed the robot to draw.

6-Axis Robot Utilisation

The above image is of the Kuka robot I set up and programmed to carry out certain processes. I programmed it using a plugin for Grasshopper called Kuka|Prc.

Concepts

Neighby: a future concept to encourage goodwill within communities. Community members are each given a Neighby allowing them to reward each other for good deeds. Neighby will produce credit coins which their owner can use as Marks and Spencer vouchers. (Collaboration with Marks and Spencer.)

A future concept allowing Bentley owners to customize the exterior of their car (Brief set by Bentley).

A protein shake bottle with a motorized blending mechanism and protein intake indicator.

A future concept involving a set of three holographic cameras.

A high performance hair dryer containing a digital pulse motor (similar to a Dyson hand dryer’s).


Modelling

A yurial model of a motorized protein shake bottle. The level window and number covers are made of acrylic. Most of the model was turned on a lathe. A milling machine was used for the holes and the angle on the lid. The parts were painted separately and then glued together.

A model of a computer mouse made mostly from yurial. The wheel is made of rubber.

A model of a robot. The body and arms were rapid prototyped. The screen was formed over a former.

A brass and steel trammel that was constructed in a metal workshop. The box was made of mahogany.

A clock made out of acrylic. The hands and numbers were outsourced.


Computer Analysis

A virtual workplace task assessment using Jack software. Jack is a 3-D interactive ergonomics and human factors CAD package enabling users to study and improve the ergonomics of product design and workplace tasks.

Using Ansys software for rigid body dynamics analysis in order to improve a component.

Using Adams multibody dynamics software to create and test a virtual prototype.

Using Ansys fluid dynamics software to determine the behaviour and flow of liquid.

Using Ansys fluid dynamics in order to analyse and improve the aerodynamics of a car.


Adobe Software

I have in-depth experience with a range of Adobe software. This includes: Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. Above shows a Flash website designed to teach beginner guitarists their first few chords. The website displays the finger positions as well as plays the sounds of the chords.

I have created a range of presentations and posters using Illustrator.


Space Planning

During my placement I was an interior designer for a furniture dealership called Tsunami Axis. I was responsible for the design of the above space plan as well as many others. I was also directly involved with surveying as well as bespoke furniture design.

This was my first floor plan. It was for an office in Baku. I also designed the circular seating.

Sketching

Sketching is a skill I use throughout the design process. Above shows some quick initial idea sketches for my protein shake bottle development. Sketching, along with all my other design skills, is something I aim to develop to a very high standard.

Prototypes

I have extensive experience in prototyping. Above shows a working prototype made from acrylic and yurial to test a rotary calculator mechanism. The prototype was also used to test the desired assembly method for my protein shake bottle design.
