A bit of a look into our day to day works. Series of skill builders and toying with controls allowed us to create our works of art. Thankfully, Mrs.Joseph provided guidlines for us.

Line: the gate to our art

Among the first things we learned was how to control the pen tool and creat lines and series of lines. It became the foundation to a majority of projects we created. Line is a point moving in space which can vary in curvature, width, direction, length, or color.

Shape: giving our art substance

Shape is a two-dimentional area or plane that is closed, it can either be organic or geometric. Applying the pen tool, reflect tool and anumber of other skills we learned, we created expanded shapes out of what was once a rectangle.

Tesselation:giving texture to backgrounds Texture is the surface quality of materials whether physical or implied visually. Much of this project used the same skills as shape but we also used duplication and rotation to make the white space look like it was also created individually when it is actually just negative, unused space.

Mandalas:bringing color into our art When we reached the mandala project, we had just learned about complimentary, analogous, and colors. We used these kinds of pairings to create each of our mandalas color schemes. Along with that, we got a better feel for rotational symmetry. This project felt like it wrapped up our skills.

Logo: Creating our own little style For this project, we tried a multitude of ways to design our own name. My favorite was the one where we had to find two different complimentary fonts and merge them. After merging them I used different styles with the pen tool to create a vine to join the letters and added a fairy to fill empty space.

Beverly Hills: A city, blinded During this project we were limited to using Beverly Hills, a thing we are constantly limited to. I decided to break the barrier and criticize our seclusion. It is good to be a strong community but many students are blind to what lies outside of the pretty streets and lighted buildings. Photoshop allowed me to create a background to describe the universe we sheild ourselves from

Line: More than just a moving point This project was our veryfirst project. We had to chose a song lyric (mine is a translation of a japanese song) and express it with line. Each line is in fact custom made and for mine, each line fits every bit of my chosen lyrics. we simply adjusted and overlapped different types of lines to create this project.

Character Final: A wrap in Illustrator This project had us create a character of our own based on what we had learned that year. I liked this project because the only restriction there was, was on time. Though we had learned much, I only used few of the skills we learned to create my character. The character portrays a connection between beings and elements.

Self Portrait:an abstract self This project was based on the style of Chuck close. It was hard to stay true to the style because I found it blotchy and irritating. I think chuck close’s style is better portrayed with physically painting, not digitally. This project still forced us to accept that within our skin, different tones and colors can be found. We just had to roll with it.
