after attaining a Degree in visual Communication i applied myself as a multimedia and graphic designer at an advertising agency.

in 2007 i joined the team at rapport tydskrif as a layout and graphic designer. i soon took on more responsibilities and became an integral part of the production process. in 2009 i worked closely with peter ong, internationally acclaimed newspaper consultant, to redesign the magazine which we then relaunched as a lifestyle magazine; My tyd. i have a passion for lifestyle, fashion, decor, food and travel publications, not only for their content but also ways of presentation. i am always on the lookout for new ideas to present stories to the reader in an aesthetically pleasing, yet readable way. My success in this pursuit is reflected in the numerous industry awards and commendations that i have been presented with.

Vanessa Haywood is known for her roll in District 9, but she is also a sports model and an enthusiastic athlete. The interview was about her taking part in the Big 5. Being such a beautiful woman I decided to do a fashion sports shoot, posing and styling her in some of the sport entries that she would take part in. Swimming, cycling and running.

trash the dress

Trash the dress is fast becoming a very popular thing to do after your big day. There no point in letting an extremely expensive dress hang in a cupboard for years, with the hope that your daughter will wear it on her big day. And if you’re not donating it, you might as well thrash it for amazing photos; and that is exactly what we did in this shoot by placing our model in the Emmarentia Dam.

Student word Meester is an article about John Jacobs and the story of his rise to fame. With a bursary in France; he studied under Marcel Marceau; one of the founding fathers of the modern mime. Jacobs is a classically trained mime, thus not the typical mime that you would see on the street entertaining crowds with invisible walls and whistling movements. After 20 years of living in Europe and back in South Africa he felt that he didn’t belong anywhere.

sassy sandi

Sandi Shultz has accomplished a lot in her life. She was a contestant on Survivor, she is part of a counselling group for rape victims and she writes songs. Her latest entry however was to launch her own fashion label; Sass designs. I decided to use her as her own model for her clothes, all the pieces are interchangeable therefor one piece can be worn day after day without anyone knowing that you’re wearing the same dress.
