A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR THE WORD “COMMUNITY” IS DERIVED FROM THE LATIN NOUN
COMMUNICATIO WHICH ESSENTIALLY MEANS THAT WE HAVE A
DUTY TO COME TOGETHER, FIND COMMON VALUES, AND ENGAGE
IN THE MUTUAL EXCHANGE OF GIFTS, IN THE SHARED PURSUIT TO LIVE MEANINGFUL LIVES TOGETHER AS A COLLECTIVE.
For DEAF, Inc., the common values and exchange of gifts focus around the importance of communication access. It has always been DEAF, Inc.’s mission to bridge our communities as a collective through effective communication access to all. This annual report reflects the importance and power of community – it truly is because of you as part of a collective that we were able serve the community in 2014 and accomplish our goal of improving communication access. We are truly blessed to have a dedicated donor base, army of volunteers, and ardent collaborators who believe in our mission. Thank you. We have raised our expectations even higher for the 2015 year. And we’ll need your help. DEAF, Inc. enters 2015 with the mindset that it takes all of us as a community to become stronger; I often refer to community as a metaphor for a forest whose ecology is intertwined in a beautiful synergy of resources to become a beautiful symbiotic ecosystem. We embrace you for being a part of something bigger and important. Everything you do for DEAF, Inc. is for the community and for that, we humbly thank you after all, it is the community that we serve.
