RUDOLF STEINER. L’ALCHIMIA DEL QUOTIDIANO Filosofo, riformatore e pedagogo austriaco, oltre che maestro di vita, Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), ispirandosi all’insegnamento di Wolfgang Goethe sull’armonia tra uomo, spirito e natura, ha fondato nel 1913 la Società antroposofica, sviluppando una nuova ‘arte dell’educazione’ e forgiando una visione del mondo, sostenibile ante litteram, che ha saputo esercitare una profonda e duratura influenza negli ambiti più disparati: dalla medicina omeopatica all’agricoltura biodinamica, dall’istruzione fino all’architettura organica e al design ergonomico. A lui è dedicata la mostra retrospettiva ‘Rudolf Steiner. L’alchimia del quotidiano’ ideata dal Vitra Design Museum di Weil am Rhein, curata da Mateo Kris e allestita al Mart di Rovereto. Il percorso dell’esposizione, esemplarmente articolato in tre sezioni, si apre illustrando il ‘Contesto’ in cui Steiner ha maturato la sua originale visione, documentando i movimenti e i temi che alimentavano il dibattito politico, scientifico e culturale a Vienna e in Europa tra la fine del XIX e l’inizio del XX secolo. Nella seconda sezione, denominata ‘Metamorfosi’, sono evidenziate le modalità con le quali il fondatore dell’antroposofia ha saputo promuovere una nuova, pervasiva estetica del quotidiano, declinandola in una molteplicità di discipline, linguaggi, scale e forme che spaziano dall’architettura al design, dal teatro alla musica e oltre. Significativo, sotto questo profilo, è il fulgido esempio del Goetheanum, tempio della dottrina antroposofica da lui stesso progettato ed eretto a Dornach (Svizzera) in omaggio al suo maestro e ispiratore, che rappresenta un’autentica pietra miliare in tema di architettura organica e che viene presentato qui in un fedele modello in scala. L’eredità di Rudolf Steiner nel nostro tempo è al centro della sezione conclusiva ‘Pratica’, in cui sono esposti disegni, dipinti, mobili, oggetti e gioielli antroposofici, ma anche sedie-icona di Henri van de Velde e Frank Lloyd Wright che ne testimoniano l’influenza. Il percorso culmina, infine, nelle ‘Farbkammer’, camere cromoterapeutiche ideate da Steiner nel 1913 e ricostruite per l’occasione. (F.M.)

RUDOLF STEINER. THE ALCHEMY OF EVERYDAY Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), the Austrian philosopher, reformer and pedagogue was a Maestro of life. He was inspired by the teachings of Wolfgang Goethe in terms of the harmony between Man, spirit and nature; he founded the Anthroposophic Society in 1913, developing a new ‘art of education’ and creating a vision of the world, sustainable ante litteram, that exerted a deep and long-lasting influence on a wide range of sectors: from homeopathic medicine to biodynamic agriculture, from education to organic architecture and ergonomic design. The Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein has dedicated an exhibition to him called ‘‘Rudolf Steiner. The alchemy of everyday’ organised by Mateo Kris in MART of Rovereto. The exhibition pathway, split into three sections, opens with ‘Context’ that illustrates where Steiner developed his original vision, documenting the movements and the issues that fired the political, scientific and cultural debate in Vienna and across Europe between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The second section is called ‘Metamorphosis’ and highlights how the founder of anthroposophy was able to promote
a new pervasive esthetic of everyday events, declining it in several disciplines, languages, scales and shapes that range from architecture to design, from theater to music and beyond. One outstanding example is Goetheanum, a temple to the anthroposophic doctrine that he designed and built in Dornach (Switzerland) as a tribute to his Maestro and to inspiration, a true foundation stone of organic architecture and an exact scale model has been presented here. The legacy of Rudolf Steiner viewed today is the core topic of the final section ‘Practise’ with anthroposophic drawings, paintings, furniture, items and jewelry; also the iconic chairs by Henri van de Velde and Frank Lloyd Wright that bear witness to the inspiration. The
