Help end Period Poverty One in ten girls has been unable to afford sanitary wear, according to new research, while 49% have missed an entire day of school because of their period. Imagine being a young girl feeling too guilty to ask your parents for sanitary items when you see it’s already a struggle buying the food that the family needs. Add to that the fact that menstruation is still a taboo subject for many people, making it even more difficult to ask for help when it is needed. But it doesn’t have to be this way... Lauren Millard, a 24 year old Youth Health Champion is co-ordinating the collection of products to help young women experiencing this kind of poverty across Dudley borough. She is asking for donations to help support the distribution of packs for young women aged 11-18. Anything you can donate will be welcome, but here is the suggested donations list Once we have collected and made up the packs, we will be distributing them via CHADD and Operation Santa to local schools etc. Packs and donations may be dropped off at: DY1 Community Building, Stafford Street, Dudley DY1 1RT or Dudley CVS Offices, 7 Albion Street, Brierley Hill DY5 3EE For further information please contact Faye Hall, DYHC Project Coordinator 07903 374686 or fayehall@dudleycvs.org.uk
