Introduction Since 2010 is a census year, we spent some time learning about the importance of the census and why we all need to participate in it. Our class decided to conduct a survey of our own. We received responses from all around the world. We collected data, made charts, and organized findings into this online magazine.

“How Old Are You?” We are doing a census and we have question number 1 which is “How Old Are You?”. The highest People's Ages ages were 15 Total 15 and older or older and Total 14 Total 13 13. Each had Total 12 89 responses. Total 11 Total 10 There was a Total 9 tie. The lowest Total 8 age was 8 Total 7 which had 4 0 20 40 60 80 100 responses. All together we got 320 responses. There were so many 12 and 13 year olds because the census was sent out around the world to different schools and 6th, 7th and 8th graders in our school took the census. We are surprised that more 7 year olds responded to us than 8 year olds. We are also surprised that more 9 year olds have more responses than 8 and 11 year olds combined. We are also surprised that we had over 300 responses. This was an important question to ask because it helped us understand the other questions. For example if we looked at the hobbies and the ages we could tell if they are good hobbies for the people.

Most of our responses came from the United States. Most responses came from the northeast part of the country. This is the case because our friends and family the live in New York. Some of the other responses were in Canada and India. This is case because we sent are census around the world. The internet helped spread our census to Canada, India and Argentina. This is because people sent it all over the world. Most of the responses were the same.

Our question was “How do you get to work or school. Most of the people who submitted responses to our question chose car/van. The least two that were chosen were train and bicycle. Boat and city bus were the same amount of people. Car/van was about 215 submissions. That was our biggest submission section. Less than 50 people chose walk. We had a lot of fun working on this question because we got a lot of information out of it. One of the people who answered our census uses car or van but has zero cars. Maybe they did not have a car but they might have a van. Or maybe they do not have that much money Our Census

so their family or friends drive them to places. We went back to our data and found that the person lives in India who did not have any cars. In India they probably do not have a lot of cars because mostly they ride animals such as elephants and in the desert part of India they ride camels. As we were looking through our data, we found out that a lot of people did not take the census seriously. For example favorite thing to do is killing. We hope you enjoyed our article and answering our census. We really enjoyed analyzing your responses. We are in group 3. Students: Julia, Maximilian, Rebecca and Timothy. ď Š

‘’How Many People Live in Your House?’’

Total 9 to 11 Total 3 to 5 Total 2 or fewer Total 11 or more Total 6 to 8

The question we analyzed was “How Many People Live in Your House?” We have learned that there are more houses with 3 to 5 people. Then 2 or fewer had the second most responses. In the chart 6 to 8 is the 3rd highest response. Now 9 to 11 had the second least responses but, 11 or more had the least. ¾ of the chart shows 3 to 5 people. On the chart 2 or fewer is ¼ of the people. We weren’t surprised that 3 to 5 was the most because most people we know fall into that category. We also weren’t surprised that 11 or more was the least because it is a big number and families that size are not that common. By: ViolettaK., Elizabeth G., and Steven B.

Asian Bread Dairy Dessert Fruit Italian Junk Meat Mexican Pasta Pizza Seafood Veggies

0ur question is “What Is Your Favorite Food.” Our results are very interesting and we are very excited that we learned all these cool foods that we didn’t know about before.0ur favorite foods that are a lot of other peoples’ are pasta and pizza. The favorite choice of all is meat. The categories in meat are chicken and steak. The least favorite food of all is dairy products. We had 13 categories. They are Asian, bread, dairy, dessert, fruit, Italian, junk, meat, Mexican, pasta, pizza, seafood, and veggies. We were surprised by the unusual foods people like, especially alligator and foods from other countries. We were also surprised that more people like veggies than seafood. These results show that

people from all over the United States and the world eat and like different kinds of foods.

The question we have been working on for the last couple of weeks is “What Is Your Favorite Hobby?” The

most popular was sports. Reading was the second most popular. This surprised us because we thought that most children had other interests besides reading. We looked back at the data and found that people of all ages did not like to read. There were many choices that we thought that would be popular but they were sadly not. Maybe not many people had time for TV or praying. When we were looking back at our data we found that T.V was only 2% of our circle graph. When we saw that we thought that T.V was going to be the most popular because a lot of people like to watch T.V. At first we thought it might be because people don’t have T.V. When we looked at the data we found that wasn’t true. It might be because of sports.

“What Language Do You Speak?”

350 300 250 200 150 100 50 0

Our question for the census was, “what language do you speak?” The language spoken most was English. 296 out of 303 people spoke English. This happened because most people responded from the United States. One person spoke 9 languages. He came from New York. 303 people responded to this question from our survey. 22 different

languages were spoken. A lot of languages only had one person speak them.

Our group has been analyzing and interpreting data on our census. We hoped you liked our census. People from all around the world spoke many different languages.

HOW MANY TV'S DO YOU HAVE?

Total 0 Total 1 or 2 Total 3 Total 4 Total 5 or more

The fourth grade is asking questions to create our own census. We are going to ask some questions about the about the peoples lifestyle. The question that we are asking is, “how many TV’S do you have?” This question is important because it can tell us how much money people have. It also helps us to know how people spend their free time. About one-half of the people who responded have 3 or 4 TV’s. In fact the question what is your favorite hobby 2% of the people like TV The most people who like TV is 4 so that tells us that a lot of people have TV’S in their house. The least number of TV’S people have is 1 or 2. The people who have 1 or 2 TV’S show us that people may not have a lot of money. I went to my friend Jamie and we looked at her chart and there question was “what’s your favorite hobby?” and there were a lot of people who picked TV as their favorite hobby.

How Many Cars Do You Have? Total 0

Total 1 Total 2 Total 3 Total 4

The question our group had to analyze was, “How Many Cars Do You Have?” This is an important question to ask because it tells us how many trains, buses, and stop signs we need. About ½ of the people have 2 cars. About ¼ of the people have 4 cars. ¼ of the people have 3 cars. It was interesting because some people have fewer cars and some people had greater cars.

How Many Pets Do You Have? TOTAL 0 TOTAL 1 TOTAL 2 OR 3 TOTAL 4 TOTAL 5 OR MORE

Hi I’m Delia and my friends and I are learning about census 2010. We have all types of questions for you to answer. The census only happens every 10 years! The census workers send out question in the mail. If you don’t answer and send it back the census takers will come knock on your door and ask the questions that are on the census. I’m very surprised about the question we were given (How many Pets Do You Have) because a lot of people had no pets but then I saw they lived in all different kinds of places.

Hi I’m Dylan, My friends and I have been working on our own census. We organized the data so we can turn it into a pie chart. It seems that most people had no pets and the second highest amount is only one pet. The third highest amount is 2 or 3pets. The fourth highest was 5 or more and the sixth highest amount or the last is 4 pets. We have the 10th question in our census. I am sort of surprised that most people have no pets at all.

Hi I’m Mike. My friends and I are working on a project for the census. It is fun working with the census because we get to see all the different types of places people live in and sports people like to play. I was very shocked that most people had zero pets. Some people might be allergic to animals or just cannot afford them.
