Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (Habitat NOVA), local affiliates, provide homeownership opportunities to well-qualified first-time homebuyers who cannot afford a conventional mortgage due to high home prices in our area. Both affiliates rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations, faith groups and other organizations. Our ReStore resale shops also provide a key source of funds to support our mission by selling new and gently used appliances, building supplies, hardware and tools, furniture and more at 50 percent to 90 percent off retail prices. The net profits support the operations of Habitat for

Humanity Metro Maryland, which builds in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, and Habitat NOVA, which builds in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax and Falls Church. ReStores are open to the public. There are no memberships or fees to shop at the stores. Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland operates ReStores in Gaithersburg (9100 Gaither Road) and Silver Spring (12006 B Plum Orchard Drive), while Habitat NOVA operates ReStores in Alexandria (869 S. Pickett St.) and Chantilly (4311 Walney Road). Inventory constantly changes at the ReStores as new merchandise arrives each week. All ReStores depend on donated goods from generous individuals as well as businesses such as building contractors and suppliers, property management companies and others. By donating to ReStore, you can keep reusable items out of landfills while supporting affordable homeownership

in our area. ReStore trucks can pick up donations for free and ReStore provides a receipt for tax purposes. Just like Habitat for Humanity construction sites, our ReStores depend on the time and talents of volunteers. We welcome volunteers individually or in groups, with a range of skills. We are particularly thankful for the dedicated military groups that have volunteered at our stores over the years. Volunteers work with ReStore staff to receive and sort donated materials, price and stock items on the store floor, clean and organize the store, set up displays, and welcome and assist customers.
