ELSA University of Minho A STEP FORWARD TO THE NEXT LEVEL “One of the most grateful experiences as an ELSA member is the possibility to breathe the international atmosphere that our association can give. Nowadays, the possibilities are even bigger considering the number of international events organized every year. This term-in-office I was blessed with the opportunity of not only attending two amazing International Summer Schools (Lisbon and Vienna) but also initiating the work of the 2nd ELSA Summer Law School in Portugal. The city chosen was the recent 2012 European Youth Capital Braga where we can find one of the most active Portuguese Local Group – ELSA University of Minho.”

Diana Correia de Sá – VP S&C ELSA Portugal

ELSA University of Minho (ELSA UMinho) founded in 2002 - only a few years after the creation of the University – is an open-minded Local Group of ELSA Portugal. In the past few years the local boards had been organizing creative and unique events such as the Juridical Trivial Pursuit and the wellknown Forensic Medicine Seminars. Twice a year ELSA UMinho also contributes with traineeships for the Student Trainee Exchange Programme of ELSA.

Daniela Guimarães President, ELSA UMinho

Definitely the dream of organizing a Summer Law School was the icing on the cake. Welcoming students from each part of the world, showing them the breath-taking landscapes of Minho Region and at the same time contribute to legal education of law students and young lawyers was something that finally we were able to achieve. In 2013 we decided to take a step forward to the international level. By keeping up the general environment at the University of Minho we established a long-term cooperation with the newly LLM in European and Tranglobal Business Law. After a few meetings and taking into account the good scores of Intellectual Property Law on the results of the survey commissioned by ELSA among law students it was clear that we had reached a decision. The Organizing Committee is ready to host you in the beautiful city of Braga and we also prepare a fantastic social programme that will include a visit to one of the most ancient Portuguese Medieval Castle!

We look forward to meeting you this Summer! 3
