Winter Guard. Congratulations to all the students, staff, and parents who helped the Winter Guard achieve a Semi-State appearance last month. Director, Matt Scott, along with his staff, have done a fantastic job this year. The Guard placed 20th this season (of nearly 65 Class A Guards) and made significant improvement in equipment, dance, and drill. The Guard also attended the State Finals awards ceremony to see Senior, Jenna Walters, receive a IHSCGA Scholarship (a Decatur Central first)!
Winter Percussion Ensemble. The WPE earned 5th place in the ultra-competitive 2010 Indiana Percussion Association “Open” movement class. This was a great show that has made improvements each week. The WPE students invested many hours, and we appreciate all that they have invested. Thanks to our amazing staff (Justin Lahr, Nate Noble, Jon Amato, George Stuteville, and Chris Jacobs). Thanks also to the many parents who drove, cooked, traveled, pushed, etc. . . . we appreciate you! The WPE will attend the WGI World Percussion Championships as Class A members in mid-April.
Dinner and Jazz. The 12th annual Dinner and Jazz concert and silent auction was a great success. This event was held at DCHS and proved to be a wonderful space. Thanks to the many parents who helped put on this event! Thanks also to Mr. Odya for all his help and to Mr. Lahr who brought the DMS Jazz Band, a first for our event! All the students enjoyed the event and love having such an evening dedicated to our wonderful jazz ensembles! Attached is a statement of income and expenses prepared by Liz Hatfield.
